The protag got impregnated by her inhuman lover (the first guy at the bar). The thing inside her was some sort of creature, possibly a harpy, but it didnt show up on the ultrasound, so the hospital just sent her home. The thing left her eventually, but it came back to feed on her milk every night, until finally it wasn't enough. So in desperation, the protag went back to the bar to get guy 2, as a sort of sacrifice to the creature.
