This spring must be very strong. And this part of table can hold only a low weight. I guess, here must be a some locking mechanism or folding legs.

I like this design for the upper cabinets I have in my camping van. The cabinet is only 5 inches tall, and I don't like having a lip to keep stuff in... since stuff keeps falling down. I just gotta draw this pattern and cut my own with plasma!

Wow! How do you even begin to design these? Link lengths? All that?
@radiowallofsound
@radiowallofsound 5 лет назад
I guess it all starts by analyzing the moving part (green). You already know the starting and ending position and orientation of it, and you know it should have 2 links to describe that movement. Then you need to trace a circle that touches a given anchor point at its initial and ending positions.... and there you have the first link origin and length (circle's origin's point and radius). then do the same with the other anchor point, and you have the other link origin and length. Then you repeat the same thing over and over with different origins and lengths, and you end up "getting it" how anchor point's position and link length affects the motion... I guess it's not intuitive until you test it.. .maybe there's a more mathematical way to design it, but I usually do the trial-error way

To meet the desired closed and open positions of the movable plate, “try and adjust” is the method used here. With a CAD software that can support kinetic simulation the process is less laborious. It means that we have to alter dimensions of the bars, run the simulation and check the movable positions for each case until getting desired result.
