As a teenager in the 90's, I never thought that the decade had "a look"...but looking back now--the hairstyles, clothes, lingo, and general aesthetic SCREAMS 1990s.
As someone who collects retro games for the NES, SNES and Genesis, it's great seeing all these video game commercials. 94 was a great year for gaming with Super Metroid, Sonic and Knuckles, Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan), and Donkey Kong Country.
My parents had these exact commercials on tape when they recorded the simpsons Halloween special. I always wondered why they recorded commercials, guess they knew one day people would want to look back at them on RU-vid lol 😆
I would have been 9 years old around this time, I can't believe I remember 90% these commercials. I must have watched a lot TV back then cause the FOX was the only channel that not only came in clear but but had all the cartoons and TV shows that I liked.
i know that these commercials aired nationwide, but it feels extra special that these are "Fox Philadelphia" commercials. i remember seeing most of these commercials as a child in West Philadelphia. The Fox New music REALLY took me back.
The ads used can actually vary quite a bit by region. I posted some of the ads from this same block in a previous volume: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubagxvPXJM8.html And those came from WPGH in Pittsburgh, so even within the same state you'll see differences.

Remember the Sega vs Nintendo console war? I remember as a die hard Sega Genesis fan boy freaking out on how amazing Donkey Kong Country looked in that commercial. That is when Super Nintendo started to gain my respect.
IMO SNES had the superior hardware and an unsurpassed library of games. Sega had more aggressive marketing and cornered the “cool” demographic. That’s not to say there aren’t great games on the Genesis though.
@@Evander42117 Kinda proves my point. Yeah, on sale they become cheap. Which means they are still making a profit at $2 per. Yet where I live, they are hardly ever on sale and always expensive.

The elves in the Sonic Commercial are Phil Fondicaro who stared in several Charles Band produced B-Horror film, and Michael J Anderson from Twin Peaks!
It's impressive that McDonald's had such big boy money to string along the likes of WB AND Disney as well as Mattel AND Hasbro and casually bring Sega along as well. Even more amusing is the thought of a corporation inviting other corporations to its 'party'.
I remember I was staying at a friend's house that night and we watched the Simpsons Halloween marathon for the first half of the night. I went home during the second half (so I missed some of Treehouse of Horror V) and caught the repeat of IV at home. I recorded the episode, but I can't remember what happened to the tape.
If all this video consisted of was just the Cryptkeeper saying "D'oh!" that would have been entertaining enough! For some reason I don't remember that but any Simpsons fan will remember this year's Treehouse of Horror V!
oh yeah I almost forgot the Donkey Kong Country ad referenced CD technology... bet they wouldn't be saying that if the Sony deal didn't fall through? We had Earthworm Jim back on SNES though I don't think we ever beat it. SHAQ FU I never played til years later on an emulator... yeah you ain't missing much. So many cool games during that era, good times!
@BigDreams757 She also sang the whole version of Your True Voice. You could look at one of the 1994 Whitney Houston AT&T Commercials, and you could listen to the whole song. After all "Your True Voice" was a slogan.
Shaq Fu-i guess the planned reboot isn't happening,the Kickstarter campaign failed to meet its goal(even Shaq himself reportedly contributed to it) :( Melrose Place-Plot twist..it wasnt Amanda and Peter 90210-a very good episode..R.I.P Luke Perry Martin-the kid whom Martin thought was his long lost son later went on to play Myles on Moesha Avalanche-not a remake of the 1978 film starring Rock Hudson Donkey Kong Country-JUNGLE FEVER SPREADS..and Spike Lee had nothing to do with it Married With Children-Bud shouldve just transitioned to female Party Of Five-after they watched the movie it became a party of six Fox Halloween Bash-could actually see them all in a horror movie..T.C Carson would probably be killed first,Jamie Walters might do the"heroic sacrifice" bit while Laura Leighton and Scott Wolf would be the only survivors Alien VS Predator-with Vin Diesel narrating the ad M.A.N.T.I.S-the CW should revive this show..maybe even make him part of the Arrowverse(a crossover with Black Lightning would be good) Double Dragon-the Chairman of Iron Chef America and Samantha Micelli vs the T1000
