90's HORROR on Laserdisc | My Extensive Collection

I'm watching Criterion collection's Video Drome and your video at the same time 💯

I remember first coming across a laserdisc. I thought it was an album,lol. My grandpa had Back to the future on laserdisc. It was lying there on top of one of the machines, probably the laserdisc player and I looked at it. I didn't ask about it though. I just looked at it and was like "What is this?" and then decades later I realized "Those were laserdiscs" I wish I had watched one. I had watched Beta and VHS, but laserdisc was something I didn't even realize existed. Didn't know Beta existed either till I went through my grandpa's movie collection and found beta tapes. In fact, that was the first time I had ever seen The terminator - on beta tape. Which I now own. I think I also saw Alien on BETA too. I had already seen Alien 3. So I went from Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, to Alien and then Aliens. I remember watching Alien and the prolong wait for the chestburster and I instantly thought "Damn..." because I realized "this was the first movie. Nobody knew an alien was gonna burst out of his ribcage." So I mentioned that to my grandpa and he was like "Ya. Imagine seeing that for the first time. You'd already seen the other movies. That was the first time anybody had ever seen that." and so for me, that kind of makes that all the more special. Speaking of Misery, ever seen Rollerball? Awesome movie. Love the costumes for the game. It has James Caan, which I just found out a few days out died last year. Like many others I thought he was gonna live forever,man. Leprechaun 1 and 2. Those are my only Leprechaun movies. I actually started to prefer part 2, it does after all actually take place on St.Patrick's day. I love the opening with the human slave, set hundreds or thousands of years in the past then we get this awesome soundtrack set to a map of the slave's ancestry through the decades. LOVE that title sequence. My only real issue with the movie is the ending. Before I never cared, but the last time I watched part 2 it was blatantly apparent and it really bothered me. When they defeat the leprechaun there is this really bad transition scene to the next scene when they are out of the Leprechaun's home. For years I always wanted to know what the hell was Killarney, because the Leprechaun says "You thought you could outsmart me?! The genius of Killarney!" Well, I just looked it up and apparently it's a town in Ireland. So I guess that's where the Leprechaun in part 2 is actually from. Also.....the leprechaun genuinely scared me as a kid. That scene with him chasing and messing around the cop. That scared me as a kid. Ya, I love Gremlins 2. Love the first movie more. My first love in terms of movies. I was OBSESSED with Gremlins when I was 4, 5, 6 years old. Absolutely obsessed. I had my own stuffed Gizmo I took everywhere with me. It was my prized possession. It was filthy enough to show it's age. As a kid I use to make my own stuffed animals out of paper. Paper stuffed animals. Couldn't get any gremlins from part 2 so I made my own paper gremlins from part 2. Seriously....you got a laserdisc of The frighteners?! AWESOME!!!!!! Finally someone brought up The frighteners. That film is so criminally underrated. Easily one of the best 90's movies. By the way....I don't know if you remember this, you might...but remember Gargoyles? The animated cartoon? Well, I watched the movie in theaters and later got the VHS of the movie which actually came with a board game. Loved the movie, but could never get into the TV series. I remember seeing Once Upon a Forest in theaters as well. Also saw Aladdin in theaters. Always have vague memories of Ferngully and Prehysteria! when I was a kid. I remember as a kid watching Prehysteria! and thinking "I WANT A DINOSAUR! I WANT ONE! That's so cool." Also was a fan of The brave little toaster. Of all the movies from my childhood, that is the film I've been wanting to revisit and I don't care what anybody says.....THE TOM AND JERRY MOVIE IS A GOOD MOVIE!!!!! "oh Tom and Jerry speak." "oh it isn't about a cat and mouse trying to kill or escape eachother." SO WHAT?! It's the typical "Roy?! Where's Jason?! TWO THUMBS DOWN!" "Where's Michael?! What's all this Halloween mask nonsense?! TWO THUMBS DOWN!" and of course Friday part 5 is my favorite of the franchise and Halloween 3 is my second favorite of the franchise. How about watching the movie based on it's own merits? Alien 3 was my introduction into the Alien franchise, can't deny that. I even had the xenomorph action figures. One of them spitted water. That being said...never really been a fan of Alien 3. I will say I've watched the director's cut and it is better then it's reputation, but even then...not a good sequel. Anaconda. Not one of my favorite 90's movies, but still really good. Last time I watched it which was around 2016, 2017 I enjoyed it. Hadn't seen it since the 90's "is it as good as I remember it or better?" and it still held up. Great laserdiscs collection. Made me think back to my childhood in a lot of ways.

Laserdisc disc it's probably IMO the best artin any physical format. Those boxsets were soooo goood...

The 90s had the best dark…almost horrorish comedies nothing but trouble, stay tuned, death becomes her, bogus journey, serial mom…etc

The girl on the knife for H6 was just done for the home video release, I remember being kinda surprised by that addition on the artwork when it hit VHS. They also changed the font from white to pure orange, I like the orange much better and has better contrast with the blue/black.

I have watcher this 5 times, love this kinda talk and displaying MORE!

Just a heads up, I have a few photos of the Elm St 1 coffin vhs box if you want a couple of photos. I sold it on a few years back but have the photos on my phone

My first laserdisc was the Aliens box set bought it in my rental vhs store at that time u could order laserdiscs from your vhs rental store this was b4 Blockbuster but a couple yrs later Laserland opened and then I really got into purchasing laserdisc especially Criterion cav discs

Love my laserdiscs. I wish I could buy more locally since nobody ever ships these safely

Great video as always. Fun trip down memory lane for me. Never had any experience being able to watch a laser disc, but remember one of the video stores growing up had them. I always liked looking through them to see the big artwork. That Full Moon Era of home video was so special.

I love your collection; I wish I was collecting 10 years ago. Most of these titles are pricey now.

I have that Alien 3 LD! I do have all the Basket Case films on blu ray and the Alien films as well.

Cool video and I remember seeing some of these in theaters and all the rest I rented on VHS and one of my friends had laser disks and he had a pretty good collection of laser disk and I was going to jump into buying laser disk in 1997 but DVDs came out on the market and I jump into buying DVDs instead of laser disk bc of the price difference between laser disk and DVDs but laser disk had some of the coolest films released and still to this day there is still films only available on laser disk like Michael mans 1983 the keep and your laser disks collection is really cool and some very good horror films in your laser disks collection and keep your videos coming

I'm in Canada and rented texas chainsaw mssacre the next generation when i was younger and it was always called that on vhs. I hate that movie but it was definitely the same name as the US like everything else. So hearing that it was return of the texas chainsaw massacre in canada is news to me.
