Hello there, my name is Christian Hanna. People know me as Christian Hanna Horror, aka CHH. This is my Planet here on youtube, hence the channel name PLANET CHH. I specialize in classic action and Horror Movies.
No mention of the man on whom, Laurence Woolsey is based? William Castle deserves to be remembered! Maybe the elimination of Mant, will spur conversation promoting collectors to seek out the Bluray…
Oh there absolutely was CGI all over Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead. He did an interview where he talked about how much he LOVED CGI and how much easier and better he felt it was using CGI. He talked about how with the original 3 IF they messed up a shot, they lost days having to clean and redress things with practical but with the CGI if something got messed up it didn't matter, they could just do another take without losing time. It was kind of weird how much he seemed to love CGI.
The comparison between these two isn't even comparable, the blu ray looks awful and the 4k looks great it's like watching a different film practically.
I actually went to the movies to see this and I did not like it. Then I caught the tail end of part 2, which was straight to video on the Syfy channel. And I liked it.
A movie called 976 Evil. that starred, Evil and featured a man who's played a hologram and a werewolf. it did have an actress from one of The Nightmare on Elm Street films. 976 Evil part 2 is also very good, different from part 1 but very good.
If it were any other label I would consider that perhaps it's some kind of legality issue or something of that caliber a play, but knowing Shout Factory it's probably just some dumb shit like they forgot to put it on the disc and QC didn't catch it. Joe Dante might be my favorite movie-within-a-movie directors. I was hoping The Howling 4K would have included the full length version of that fake porno he shot for the peepshow scene where Eddie Quist is introduced. It's meta grindhouse from the grindhouse era lol.
Bro , i love Matinee, But that's definitely a bummer, that means I got to have two copies of the same film, and with very little shelf space, that would have been nice not to have to keep both. Great Video 👍
The Mant movie was even included with the laserdisc edition (which I won from West Coast Video). A feature on William Castle would have been a nice touch.
The issue with the music is contracts are signed with something like "theatrical, broadcast television and video home movies (VHS)" Blueray, DVD, streaming didn't exist so the bands got paid according to the contract and the studio doesn't have rights to distribute the music in any other format. So if they do distribute ...on Blueray or whatever they are in violation of copyright which goes beyond just a civil suit for payment and could extend into criminal court.
Saw this in the theater. I was/am a huge John Goodman fan. This, King Ralph, The Flintstones. Watched them all in the theater. This is probably my favorite John Goodman film. I love it.
Return of the Living Dead soundtrack was changed from the theatrical release too. I was like "WTF?!?!" I still have the original cassette tape around here somewhere. Young Fast Iranians wasn't on the original soundtrack the scene you are refering to was originally The Damned "Deadbeats Dance"
Really love this show! Easel Kill Ya from season 3 is my favorite. I owned the individual releases that you have. During my most recent rewatch, I found a disc in season 3 was defective and no longer played in my disc player. I was devastated, so I looked to buy another copy of season 3. During my research, it seemed as though those individual seasons are usually used and hard to come by, and typically in the $15 - $25 range. I found the complete series for about $30, so I ordered that. But BEWARE! Unless my copy is a fluke, the picture quality looks more like VHS quality, so I think the "chunky box" newer release is a lower quality. Cases and printed cover art also looks lower quality. But it does not look bootleg or anything. Just cheap. Be curious if your slimmer complete series box set is also lower quality than the original, individual release.
When I discovered your channel last year, you convinced me to go region-free before the year was up, and now you've convinced me to check out Matinee. It seems like my kind of movie anyway. I like Joe Dante and movies like Ed Wood. Why am I just now hearing about this?
Very confusing release. I loved Matinee it was always a movie that aired randomly on tv for me.Not sure which release I would go for personally. I am surprised Joe Dante's The Hole doesn't seem to have a similar release.
FYI Matinee 4k is part of the current Target movie sale just picked this up along with Species 2 4k and Primal Fear 4k. Also thanks so much for this video I love this movie but didn’t pick up the Blu-ray was waiting for the 4k but great info to know.
Not only is this my favorite Joe Dante film, it is one of my all-time favorite films. Saw it opening weekend when it came out. Two things that hurt the film at the box office is 1) The marketing was pretty bad, and 2) it was dumped in the theaters in January on the Friday before the Super Bowl. I snapped this up when it first came out on Blu-ray a number of years ago and showed it to my son when he was little and he absolutely loved it. Became one of his favorite films. Still need to pick up the new 4K disc, but will make sure to hang on to my original Blu-ray.
I’ve always avoided it because I know it’s not a horror film. But I’ll likely give it a chance some time. Just feel like I’d get a bit tired of it like I did one cut of the dead
Happy belated 4th of July!!! This was a classic and hilarious episode. The dogs were absolutely the cherry on top of this sundae, though. Christian saying “y’all get out of here” to his dogs a bunch of times had me cracking up lol… 😂🤣 🤘🏻
Stallone read the script= "This is a little over the top, don't you think", producer= "That's it, we'll call it Over the Top and we will pay you 12 million to do it", Stallone=" Ok, i will rewrite right the movie to explain the title"
The discs in the Saw X steelbook is meant to be eyeballs. And the red on the left is like the blood and idk what it's called but the end bit behind the eye.
