The vibe in the 90's was just magical, before social media, before 99% of people even had mobile phones, Before you could google anything, the world was still such a mysterious place, every day was a new adventure, everybody had their own unique style and vibe since nobody was copying what they seen on social media everybody was more creative and less influenced it was so pure, going to a new area or city truly was an adventure you never knew what kind of people you would meet or places you would see, Your homie would give you a tape with new artists you never heard of, you had no idea who it was but it sounded fire, Nowdays with social media, smart phones and google, the world is now so small, that sense of adventure and mystery is no more, most people are sheep, and every city you go to everybody walks talks and looks the same. I graduated HS in 1995, joined the Marines, and by 97 I had already seen like all the Mediterranean countries. Hip hop was like a universal language everywhere I went. The 90s were good. Internet wasn't really a thing. No cell phones. People were different then. You didn't have anything besides your wits and guts. Thats how it went down man.

Man back in the late 90's a friend of mine gave me a mixtape he made while in New York, it was like Friday night hip hop thing, with a lot of rare stuff. Unfortunately that tape got ate, and never thought I would ever hear or be able to find any of those songs again. Crazy enough, several of those songs on on this list. Amazing list man!

Watched Rap City religiously, listened to plenty of college radio stations that played underground content. I was about as much of a dyed in the wool Hip Hop head as there was. There is a line in Mobb Depp's "Shook Ones" where it states: "They come around, but they never come close to". Probable Causes "Never Come Close" samples this line throughout the song (Or at least I am almost certain they do) 38:17. I am an avid hip-hop fan and the more I familiarize myself with all kinds of hip-hop, the more sampling I able to connect to their original songs. It is pretty cool when you are able to connect a line/sample in a song to another song. It really makes you appreciate the art and artist(s). Sampling is one of my favorite aspects of hip-hop. It is almost as artists allow other artists to live vicariously through their own work, while also paying a tribute to them.
