This dispatcher did such an amazing job with the questions to get information, the repetitive questions to keep her awake, the reassurance that she had help on their way. Michelle was determined to live and subconsciously knew she would by remembering all the small details right before she even entered the home. The moment the dispatcher said: “I’m getting everybody to you, ok?” That dispatcher was on a mission to save her and be present for her in her moment of need. I’m so glad Michelle lived, as painful as her days may be every now and then… she’s an example of a strong determined woman, she never once felt bitterness towards the murderer who took her baby girl from her.

My neighbor is a big guy 6’2” 200lbs with a wife and 3 young children. After selling household items on Craigslist one woman kept returning to their home at strange times 10pm, 1am, 5am about once a week to ask them if they had anymore items to sell. She was gone after police arrived. Frustrated and scared they sold their house and moved. When the new owner experienced this woman he ran after her and said he would be meeting at her house. He would find her and would love to come visit her. She never returned

In case anyone wants to know the outcome, On March 18, 2015, 7-month-pregnant Wilkins, 26, was brutally attacked by Dynel Lane, 35, who cut her fetus from her womb. Wilkins was attacked in the home of Lane, a mother of two girls herself, after she answered a Craiglist ad for free baby clothes for her unborn baby girl who she planned to name Aurora. When Wilkins arrived at Lane's Longmont, Colorado, home, she was hit over the head with a lava lamp, stabbed in the neck with a broken glass and choked until she lost consciousness. Lane then cut Wilkins's baby from her womb and left her dying in the basement. Wilkins locked the door, not knowing at the time that Lane was no longer in the house but at the hospital with the baby she had just cut out of Wilkins, having told her boyfriend David Ridley that it was her child and she had suffered a miscarriage. Wilkins had lost half her blood and could feel her own intestines when she called 911 to report the attack. Wilkins didn't learn until the next morning, after doctors were miraculously able to save her life, that she had lost her unborn daughter. Prosecutors claimed that for the past year, Lane had falsely told others that she was pregnant and planned to pretend that a girl was her miscarriage but her boyfriend noticed that the girl was alive, she later died. Lane was found guilty in attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and unlawful termination of a pregnancy and sentenced to 100 years in prison. Carol DeHerrera, Lane's mother, said Lane never recovered from the accidental drowning death of her young son, Michael. Lane's desperation to have another child caused her to make this choice.

@@BS-dq1kz a little late for this reply, but I agree she seemed cold at first but then softened. It's usually like that, because it's their job and they need to remain cool and collected at all times. After some time, I guess sympathy/compassion kicks in, especially in serious situations

Vaishnavi Ramesh you choose where you live, and that's what it's based on. Resources and your location. You can't say because of your one incident that EMS is slow and don't give a shit. The video you posted on were doing EVERYTHING in their powers to get their fast, but they were in an unincorporated area- the family paid taxes for unincorporated services. If I called 911 right now and needed EMS, I'm a few miles from the station, it would take no longer than 3 and a half minutes. Add a minute to that at 3am. When I was in law enforcement it was the same, and I worked in a less populated area, but incorporated, nonetheless.

911 responder should be quick to inform victim that help is on the way and then continue the rest. So that victim has hope someone is coming to help her and she feels encouraged to continue the talking. Hormones also play a role in maintaining blood pressure etc and a positive news (of help on the way) will help victim hold on to life longer. And at the end of call, don't let go so abruptly, first make sure it is really the officers/EMT who are with the victim before hanging up.

My husband worked with a disbatch center and emt dept in wisconsin, i asked him and he said if it is a land line it is extremely east and quick to track the address but if it is a cell phone its nearly impossible because the cellular phones use towers that r spread all over so all they have to go on is the location of the tower it goes through, which is why asking the address is EXTREMELY important in these situations

Even in public places you are not really safe. Bring someone with you and a weapon. I used to sell things on an app called OfferUp, most sales went great. There was this one guy who I was sketched out by when we met. We met at Jack-in-the-box, I was in my car with the window down. This was in a prostitute heavy area. He was leaning in my car saying he had weed on him and wanted to smoke me out. Told me how beautiful I was and asked if I had ever prostituted. I told him thanks and no and that I had to be somewhere in like 10 minutes. He insisted on smoking me out, but I told him that if I wasn't at my destination in 10 minutes that my friend was going to come looking for me at the Jack-in-the-box because I told them where I was going to be and my friend worries. I lied to him and told him that I would be back at Jack-in-the-box in a few hours for another sale and I would love to smoke then. ALL with my hand in my pocket grasping my pepper spray. He was excited at the thought of coming back later and smoking with me. I told him I would call him in an hour. Blocked all contact and from then on... I brought someone with me when I sold stuff. Pretty sure that I would have been kidnapped and forced into sex trafficking. I live in a bad area where sex trafficking is a huge thing. So scary, I learned my lesson without and major repercussions. Thank God.

I imagine to be a competant 911 dispatcher like this lady you have to set aside personal emotions regardless of the circumstances. Michelle is a strong beautiful lady God Bless her.

This was tough to listen to. Michelle has a strong will to live. One of the strongest I've ever seen.

Im wondering the same thing. I think it's because she hung up before verifying it was actually the cops ringing the doorbell. Doesnt make sense

dangel angello It's simply because that's what they do when a perpetrator and victim goes to court. They have many witnesses and it's very detailed. They want to have every single little thing right so they can be certain the jury understands and the killer is put behind bars.

@@BS-dq1kz Ah right. The title makes it sound like she's the one on trial.

So if you don't know any land marks or can tell 911 exactly where you are. Then your screwed. Good, got it.
