At a young age, Dan Brunn moved from Tel Aviv to LA; armed with a love of cars, but unable to speak English, he found a novel way to interact with other children who shared his passion - through car designs and drawings. His first design was a 911 from 1987, borne from falling in love with it on first sight and thereafter deciding to become an architect.
Dan went on to achieve his childhood dreams and then some, purchasing a 993 Carrera 4S amongst others. Here is his story.

Beautiful car and nice report. I had the opportunity to buy a dark blue 993 Carrera 4S in March 1998 - one of the last 993/4S ever built - here in Switzerland. This was also my first Porsche. Now it is 22 years old, looks like new and I still drive it, but only about 2000 km/year to prevent it for one of my children. Hope that in the future you will be allowed to drive this wonderful car and not suddenly petrol cars will be banned completely. That would be a disaster.

@@911aircooled5 I know his channel; thank you. But my 993 has never seen snow and almost never rain, is washed exclusively by hand and therefore it is not an option to test its perfect winter set-up. Apart from the low ground clearance 🙂

@@Seanboxter1 Fair call. I never drove my 993Turbo in the rain or wet roads. It was immaculate, better than factory. Sold it recently to fund my 992GT3 (and again, never driven in the wet)

Ditto. I have a 993 turbo and I much prefer that over my 997 GT3. Right from the moment you open a door on the 993, it just takes you on a journey, and a very happy one!

Exactly. Every times I open (and close: CLACK) the door of my 1996 Cabriolet, it brings me vintage-like in the Sixties. But when I drive it hard into corners in the Swiss Alps the car shows that Porsche did everything right with the technical innovations with the Multilink Rear!

Loved this video. These mountains are my backyard and I drive these roads often in my mk7 GTI. 911 has and always will be the dream. I look forward to the day when I'm ripping through these canyons in my own Porsche.

993 is the best looking Porsche ever made. I just can't get over it how good looking car it is. Don't get me wrong I like 997 and 992 and they're among the best looking modern cars but 993 was just the "peak" of the whole 911 range. At least when it comes to looks. Perfection.

I understand the feeling. I bought a 1998 993 C2S in December 1997 and now, almost 70,000 miles later, it still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it and hear that flat-6 engine as I run through the gears. It feels like the car is wrapped around me when I’m in the driver’s seat. I’m one with the machine. I’ll never sell it and plan to leave it to my children but not for a long, long time.

I drive a Model S. 100% torque. 100% adrenaline on the get-go. BUT I miss the growl of an engine, the control I have on the gears, the build up to that point of exhilaration that only a Porsche (or an E36) can deliver. Looking at purchasing a 1996 993 4S (maybe a turbo) for my 50th. Your vid made me excited!

I watched this video a couple of years ago. I had a 911 SC and only hoped that one day I could have a 993 4S. I just realized I now have a ‘96 C4S in my garage also with rest of the world stance and bumpers. I now wonder how it will be to own a 993 Turbo and wishing for a 993 Turbo S. :-) Does the wanting and the next Porsche ever stop?

Love my 993 C4S. Slow by today's standards, but still provides an amazing driving experience. The front headlight design is a love or hate item. The widebody rear is IMHO the best looking 911 ever produced. Even the non widebody has wide hips. Love the sound of the door click opening and closing. Last of the air cooled 911's and has an A/C that actually works.

I love my 993 C2 Cabriolet (1997 manual with 285 PS) exactly because of the sleek design and the front headlight as well as the hips / widebody. Maybe slow by today's standards. BUT, it depends on how you drive and on which roads. Mine I drive it hard around the Swiss Alps and corners. Not easy to catch for a lot of modern cars in a similar horsepower range...Have fun with your 993 C4S

I would love to see a comparison video story of the new and old generation. Not only in terms of 911 models but the young and old owners of Porsche. As the region president of Porsche Club China, many Porsche 911 owners in my region, like myself, are under 35. Would be great to see the difference and similarities in thought and appreciation between old and new. :)

Love that. Good Guy. Good Story. Great Car because that era allows a driver to be connected... Today cars are ok and nice and have tons of tech... I own a Taycan Turbo S -- sure nice. But nothing close to owning an early 70's 2.2 or 2.4 911, 964 or 993. It's just not in the same league of happiness.

@@evannussbaum1863 ... Also own 993RS, 964RS, 964C2, 1973RS, 1971 911S, ... Lots of Porsches. I have owned McLarens... Happiness comes from a mechanical car, going slower and just enjoying the ride -- not getting hung up on 0-60 tricks. Those jack rabbit tricks get old after a year or two... Then the difference between 3.1s and 2.8s is stupid. I will say that the Taycan Turbo S is different... Its a funny feeling that the torque curve never ends -- it always feels like it can pull you even after 4 seconds of acceleration at stupid speeds. No matter, I liked the video because cars are getting stupid -- no feel and just hype. Getting a car where your involved in making it move -- that cant be replicated today.

Cold Gecko I agree with you. My uncle’s got a 991.2 turbo s, a model 3 performance. Model S, R8, and Boxster. He used to have an old MG roadster. That was my favorite. It just goes to show you don’t need horsepower and tech to have fun. -cough cough hellcat cough cough

Super. I own a 1996 993 C2, iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram, LSD. No CEL, no oil leaks. Multi-show full-concours winner. I do my own maintenance. I'm never selling it.

930 Turbo looks amazing and so iconic. I own a 996 (yeah I'm poor and can't afford the air cooled). Best looking 911's are the 930, 993 S and 964 RS. If I had all the money in the world I'd buy all three. But damn that widebody 993 still takes the cake as the ultimate Porsche perfection.

Rear wheel drive is better 2S, the only thing the 4S has is the wide rear hips from the turbo which are beautiful.

280hp and 240lb/ft of torque. The new Honda Civic R could probably outrun this car. That 993 body though...... Porsche has come a very long way in terms of power from the 90's.
