The 993 driver had the most skill. The way it launched better then the autos is nuts.

The 993 really is a beast off the line -- it's crazy how fast that car is still now.

Huge respect for all 911s despite not being a car I lust over, but this is one of the best videos you have done Matt.

Hands-down the most perfect drag race, there could ever be. The results were textbook. Now time to throw in GT2 and 3s.

The 964 is my absolute all time favorite. That car seems so get even prettier as it ages.

Epic!! The 992 is just stupid fast. However, that 997 still doing sub 11s is flat out amazing. As for looks, I’d take that 993 all day.

The 911 type 964 is such a beauty...

The 996 with remap, exhaust work and air flow is still pertinent if you get it done. D.M.S automotive will do the lot for around 2K and it will be a missile that will stun new variants. I had mine mapped to a safe 670 bhp with 700nm torque. Wish i still had it, the newer one lacks so much character and is a GT rather than a sports coupe. Viva 996

Air cooled vs water cooled 911 , matt you've made it one of the most hyped drag race ever , you allways doing some crazy drag races that never meant going to be.

You can really tell how much the 997.2 Turbo S was ahead of his game back in the day - sams as the 992 is nowadays. Just imagine it’s a 1/4 car with 10.9s in 2010.. I really love the 997.2 but went for a 991.2, the drivability is on another level

honest, i'd take the cars from the oldest to the 993, glorious , newer cars legit spaceships, amazing!

The car I'm most impressed by, is the 997 Turbo S, considering how much less power it has than the 991, those two were extremely close.

This video is interesting. It starts off predictable, but then gets more confusing and unpredictable. Thanks for setting up this epic contest! I have never driven a 911, so no idea which one I'd want. But it would probably be one with AWD.

Finally a video that can show the decades of progress in one video. imagine in another 50 years -60 years of Porsche will make the newest generations look like the older generations in this video.

The 997 was extremely impressive. Give that thing a remap and it easily beats the 991.

Hello Carwow people. Great and fascinating races. Loved the air coolers as usual, was sort of biased for the 996 as we have a ‘04 C2S with X51 everything at home. The water coolers all sounded strangled. Are you sure all those switchable mufflers were set loud? The din we get while flogging down a straight is like the soundtrack in the Le Mans movie. Great fun and thanks.

Huge Porsche 911 fan, and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. But it would probably be the 930 or 964 but I love them all, 993's are cool because they stick out in a very early 90's way, 996, the one none wants is still cool as well! There was a 996 Carrera S for sale here for just 20000€ or slightly below a few years ago, if only I had been in a position to strike, I would have in a heartbeat, it was blue. Was waiting for my father sometime mid 90's, an old couple come walking by heading for their garage behind me. They open the doors and inside sits a stunning all black 930 Turbo, will never forget that! They backed it out and drove off... They where probably easily in their late 60's or maybe even 70's if I recall, pretty awesome! :D Might been owned from new, I will never know. Thinking about it, I think Becky's 930 is the winner, it might not be the fastest of the bunch, but yeah, best looking... and thats hard for me to say, such a Porsche fan, I love em all too much! xD Hope this did not turn out too expensive for her! :O

Loved this! I am a rare one that really likes the 996. Kind of wish Matt’s 996 example wasn’t a tip so it could compare closer to the 993 and 964. The 997-992 are on different levels with their gearboxes. Great race! One of my favorites, if not my favorite.

Do a Japanese classics drag race. Imagine. Celica, Supra, Integra, WRX, Civic, Skyline, etc may not be a close race but boy seeing those together just would be a wet dream. Obvs I mean these at their heights not the newest ones.

Just how good do the 964 and 993 look??? Fantastic aircooled 911's. New ones have lost their 'flair'. Fastest is not every thing, driver emotion is everything which the 964 and 993 bring in bucket loads. Owed a 993TT for 10years.

I had kind of given up watching carwow videos however this was the best one I've ever seen. Superb concept. Well done. Strangest thing is that, on the exhaust sound check, they never sound that good at all, but when one passes me on a road, they sound amazing. Weird. Must just have a timbre that doesn't translate in a microphone. Anyways, more like this please carwow. VW golf range? Fast Ford ranges? Honda civic?
