I love making fluted (or carved) bowls on the potters wheel. Not only do the fluting add an interesting twist to the shape and design of a bowl but the way glazing breaks over the fluted edges makes them look so beautiful.
However, there are a few challenges to making fluted bowls - one of them is that they often end up being too heavy.
In this video I will show you how I make fluted bowls on the potters wheel - including some good tips on how to make them super light too.
