I placed the smaller o-ring into the water pump as shown as opposed to on the end of the down spout however it continues to leak. Maybe ill double up the o-rings and use the old one in addition to the new and place one inside and one on the downspout. Good video though, it helped me out.
Did that solve your leak? I’m leaking from the same downspout. Old downspout had a tiny hole so I bought a new downspout, put it in with a new o ring but it leaks as if it didn’t seal. Curious if two o rings helped you out or not. I know mine should be sealed because it’s screwed all back into place.
I wonder if he found out I've got to do mine tomorrow should I put it in the downspout. I'm only replacing because my timing belt broke I didn't have a leak. Well not yet 😬
I have replaced my pump, and when I was done the oring for downpipe was leaking. Is there a way to properly install the oring without removing the pump? I have tried a couple of times but keep failing. Part of it, I think, is that the oring they supply is too small in diameter. It is not as nearly thicknas the one you show any hint or tricks would be great. And by the way you made a great how to video.
@jesushinojosa8192 ya, I did. I used two o rings and used gasket sealer to glue them on the pipe and let that dry before I installed them. It worked perfectly. Thank you
I noticed when removing the water pump bolts, that the bolts go through the engine coolant ways. Did you put any gasket sealer around the bolts when you reinstalled the water pump?
Great video man ! Using it to replace my water pump this weekend. Curious, was it necessary to replace the thermostat & housing at the same time too ??
You should hear some noises or see some leaking from the water pump when it needs to be replaced. If you’ve gone more than 100k- 130k miles on the original, have it checked along with the timing belt.
@@CarolinaMedia Thanks for the info. I have almost 137K miles on my current water pump (not original). I'll probably wait another 20K miles and change it along with the timing belt. BTW, how many miles do you have with your Ranger? What size are those tires?
My timing belt just broke at 178k kilometers. I'm doing this job tomorrow, is it best to put the small o ring in the water pump hole and not on the hose? Also is there any places you recommend for rtv
