Just in case this doesn’t work for your vierwers... I had a problem where my 2001 Honda Accord would not shift out of park. It was a few months ago & I was visiting my son in college about 4 hours from home and was really freaked out. I watched a different video here on RU-vid that really saved the day. I found out that it needed a part called the brake light switch which needed to be replaced. To get it home in the meantime, all I needed to do was stick a key or something similar (I used a fork) into the little hole just to the left of the Red “P” on the shift panel. It was an amazing instant fix until I was able to replace the part 🙏 ✌️💞
I watched several videos that didn't help with the issue. Anyone can put a key or screw driver in the slot but that's just temporary and doesn't fix the issue. In this case the shifter was my issue too and now it's fixed. A fuse would be a first thing to do, then check brake lights to be sure they work. Then this would be #3) to reassemble the shifter. My chronological order is screwed up as to how I finally got to your awesome video. 😂, Some take drastic measures and replace the computer also the TPS throttle position sensor can also prevent the car from getting out of park. I'm so glad I finally got to your video. God bless you for sharing and now I subscribed to your channel. Thanks brother
Muchas gracias son las 2 AM en Tijuana y no podía dormir aún por ese pequeño de talle sabía que algo se me olvidaba bien por estos vídeos la verdad si sirven gracias
If this starts to not work bro it’s your shifter cable going out to fix it tho every time it gets stuck to the right of the gear knob there’s a tiny slot you can slide something in to release it and you’ll be able to change gears as you have that button pushed down in the slot
Mr Josiah! Your video on fixing the Honda Accord gear lever was awesome! Can you please upload more do it yourself fixes on Honda accords of any kind. Thank you very much!!
It’s deeper than this I’ve seen this video and yes it is a fox for a while till you realize it’s the release switch when you press the break sometimes you can hear a click which is the release for the knob to go in gear the fix for this is to jimmy the plastic surrounding around the gear shift then go to the first slot coin looking whole and get a item typically a key to push down while your foot is on the break and move gear and it will release thank me later
I have this problem but it is intermittent ! It works then doesn't, then works again. If i start the engine, and press the brake pedal, i can hear the click from the solenoid unlocking the gear lever but the button first remains stuck. After releasing the stuck button and pressing mildly 3 times then suddently it goes in ! Sometimes it won't go in for a minute, but eventually always will. I know the button mechanism is not the problem, because i took it off and it slides in and out without problem by itself. I think it's an alignment problem, i notice the wedged metal piece from the stick can rotate and may set itself in a bad angle. But i dont' know how to fix it. (note that 3 years ago i already replaced the button mechanism with a new one but that time it was not stuck, it was broken in pieces. This time it is no broken).
Hey man my accord will only not go into reverse and when its in drive the rpms are really high could u let me know what could be the problems other than just replacing the whole thing??
Hey Man I have a Honda Accord 2002 and it started to give me problems I already watch your video because sometimes it stuck in Park so what you can told me about the sensor in the stop pedal?
Check to see if your brake lights are on when your brake pedal is pressed. if they're off when the brake is pressed then you just need to replace the brake light switch. the part is only $5 and is easy to access and replace.
