Lovely Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Piyason Videographic Ventures (search on google)? It is an awesome exclusive guide for creating your own viral video without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my good mate called Gray finally got astronomical results with it.
There is a lot of genuinely very useful stuff here, Multiplier, but I'd like to suggest a few things I'd add: 11: ... Consider cutting up the various takes and build a "best take" from those edits, also known as comping. Often has to be done with acoustic instruments and vocals, and the same trick works just as well with synths, particularly if one is absolutely anal about how each note modulates etc. 35: Using MP3Gain to bring the level of an MP3 down before uploading to SoundCloud might work, so that one doesn't have to entirely remaster a track just for SC. Haven't tried this, though! And it's preferable to make a quieter master for SC in the first place, and preferably FLAC/WAV. 42: Reverb sub bass - I'd recommend cutting all side audio below 120Hz with a mid/side EQ, or use some kind of "mono making" plugin. 56: I really think understanding everything mentioned in this tip will help go a LONG way to improving one's ability to mix and produce. 66: This isn't something everyone has to do. If there's a particular genre that's already well established that one wishes to produce, go for it but try to find something unique to add to it. 75: Better still, gain stage everything so that nothing goes above 0dB anywhere. Leads to better mixes. 82: I'd add Togu Audio Line and FabFilter to that list. P.S. I'm not trying to show off, I'm just sharing knowledge and opinion. I think Adam does a great job with his videos and is very generous with his knowledge. I've been producing since 1998 and still learn things from him.
Finally wrote all of these down in my studio writing thingamajiggy. The funny thing is, I've used a lot of these tips in the tracks I've created since the last time I watched this. I guess I'm not as forgetful as I thought - though - I didn't remember where I got the tips. Get out of my head Adam!
Holy hell, what an amazing video. Except that I had to pause constantly to take a million notes. One question--and I don't have the number--you mention that snares and claps should go slightly nudged left. Will this affect the groove pocket being slightly on top of the beat Vs slightly behind it? And on the subject, I've heard a lot of hyperbole on that, do you have a preference for exactly how "on the beat" you prefer a track to be, or perhaps a variety of preferences based on context? Once again, thank you for this epic video. Wowsers trousers!
25, 35, 48 (looking at best ways to visually analyze kick:bass and best ways to make them fit better), 53 (sampling and how it would take someone years to reverse engineer [depending on how many rounds you do]), and 89 are the ones I would recommend doing a vid on. I reckon you should make a video talking about how you you don't need the best synthesizers to get the best sounds, rather you should learn how to make a polished sound from the most limited synthesizers. A lot of people get hung on needing to get plugins like nexus and such, which isn't necessarily bad, like I use nexus all the time just because it's super conveniant, but it is still important to know how to change a sound to what you want, or what you think will sound good if you need it to. Thanks for the vid man, I watch yours all the time.
he kinda means that some build ups consist of a note increasing in pitch with a snare roll getting faster and then the drop, and some others the intro just stops, fades into a reverb and then the drop hits.
could you maybe do a video on what to do if your track isnt mono compatible? e.g. if a lead sounds great in stereo but really weak in mono what can you do to fix that?
25 You can also have a solid mono sub and/or bass sound and layer in a wider (lower volume) bass on top to have it sound best on proper setups but not lose the bass on a mono system.
44 Bouncing reverb is probably one one the greatest tips of the list. Being able to reverse, filter etc your reverb really separates you from others, no one does it. 54 High Rankin!!!

my top tip thats not here: sliding whole tracks backward and forward using track delay to create cohesive timing. I can spend hours playing with minor adjustments to timing because it can have such a huge effect on the feel. this is different than swing because the whole track moves back or forward together.
Thanks, Adam. Good advice. Really interesting. Obvious why you are a good teacher you know heaps (well at least 97 things). I'd love to collaborate with you. I could let you do 99% of the work. I could name the track if you like. Why Serum? Is it the best? I have all NI synths, Arturia synths, LPX & Alchemy and several other synths (ok, nearly a million. I'm a digital hoarder). But I don't have Serum, Sylenth or Nexus. Do I really need them (do I need every single VST in the world???).
can you elaborate on headphones dry venue wet please? I produce mostly on my headphones and I'm going to play my music live very soon so I'd appreciate any kind of heads up. thanks
Could you elaborate more on tip nr 21? I've been noticing the change in volume and the change in sound in monitoring for a long time in headphones and it confuses me sometimes into making the the right decisions in my mixes. Of course loud sounds different than quiet but I can really hear it when trying different quiet volume settings. Almost like sweet spots. Great stuff in the video!!
You have to start by choosing a DAW - Ableton, Cubase, FLStudio, Garageband, Sonar, Protools etc. I personally think FLStudio is good for beginners. Ableton is very popular among dance music producers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AtOrDf93jOk.html
