I'm happy to assume you Hikaru cannot see the eval bar during the stream. I'm curious to know how seeing the evaluation would affect play. It's one thing to ask for the best next move. It's another to ask how good your move was. What advantages does knowing the evaluation offer?
Most likely the best use for it is knowing that you have a winning move because when you play chess you are focused on so many things that when there is a tactic right in front of you, you can overlook it. Seeing the eval bar go up and knowing that there is a winning move will cause you to search for it. And obviously if you are good enough you will find the move. But then again sometimes it will just be some weird rare tactic that only stockfish would find and in blitz or bullet it would be a waste of time to look for. (Sorry for the paragraph 💀)
@@maxxcollins8981 it could clue an ignorant player into seeing a complex multi move strategy that could help him. You don't think on a move by move basis in chess

@@ethantodd3558 Kramnik is arguably one of the weakest former world champions. Also he's been retired for a while and Hikaru is literally world #2 in everything right now. Without Magnus (the greatest player of all time in my opinion) he would be world champion right now. Plus Kramnik thinks Hikaru cheats so he'd definitely be happy.

The habit that Hikaru has of regularly doing an autopsy of his games even when he wins to understand where he missed chances is really telling. It seems to me that this habit is a big part of his continual improvement and staying at the top of the game for so long.
