I really hope #100 isn't your last. I truly look forward to your podcast every week and hope they continue. Just hearing about your week and what projects you have going on is extremely enjoyable and relaxing.

With this being show # 98, I'm concerned! Are you only going to do 100, then stop?

Mr. Linker, I am asking if when you decide to do some videos again, could you please do one on the sharpening technique that you referenced in this video. I know it would help me and I would think some other people would be interested also.

Been using Artistro acrylic paint pens on my caricature carvings for areas with fine details and signing the carvings. An artist friend of mine highly recommended them.

The pfeil video shows a rack of gouges, completely cherry red. The tips are quenched in the oil up to the tang, then hung on a rack with just the tang out of the oil. Ie the blade is hardened to the tang. That having been said the different types of gouges are manufactured differently. Palm vs intermediate vs full size vs the monster ones.

I have Norway Spruce trees and I tried to carve a piece from a branch. It was horrible.

My favorite carving wood is sugar pine. Back in the '70s, I got free offcuts from a foundry patternmakers shop. The grain is consistent and holds detail well.

As someone that has trouble carving beards that look natural/real, I think that newest bark carving you showed on C&C #98 looked like a perfect example to strive for! Beautiful !
