99-05 Grand Am/Nbody F Body Brake Swap

Heres a quick walk through of installing F Body front brakes on an N Body otherwise known as Grand am(99-05), Alero(99-04), and Malibu(97-03). Theres different routes to take, i explain all that and include some example part numbers at the end!

highly recommend locktite on the caliper slide, and caliper bracket bolts. otherwise, good stuff!

I've had quite a few come to me seized in there! That's why I personally won't throw any on! I know on other vehicles I've seen bracket bolts come out, but never on a grand am!

Hmm I was thinking of upgrading the brakes on my 99 Trans am, I guess I can throw the old stuff on the grand am now 😀

Even tho the F body is 5x120, this still goes over the 5x115 hub?

So on rockauto at least. The rotors are the some part # they must over bore the holes to fit both.

How did you reprogram your speedometer for the bigger tire size?

If you run the right tire size you don't need to. Example, if stock is 225 50 16 run a 225 45 17 and the speedo will not be affected! There's calculators online where you can compare tire sizes and see the difference it'll cause the speedo.

You'll have to consult a w body channel! I believe my buddies have. But not 100% on the details.

Propping the brake pedal down limits the amount of fluid that will come out..

Hi! My 2004 GA gt has 16 wheel size, so, can i use these? Or i have to up to a 17s. Mines are the originals

Depends on the style of 16s! There's 3 that come to mind. You'll have to grind the fins down for sure on the curved ones.

I’ve got a 03 GA SE, looking to change the rear drums to discs. Would this upgrade bolt right on? Also when looking for this complete upgrade on rockauto how do I find it? Having trouble lol

So as far as the rear swap, I have 2 videos on that actually! But yes it is bolt on, just need to change a couple things. For this videos swap you'll 99-02 fbody front brakes!

@@davidcochrane7211 front only. You'll see in the video I only replace the front. Rear is another setup that I chose not to go with.
