I'm saying this for your benefit: Walk away now. I don't know where you're both from, I can't speak about your cultures, but the odds are you're living somewhere where, even IF the law says 16 is okay, you're better off only looking for girls 18+ so you don't have people giving you grief. For all I know, the law could be 18 where you're at and even entertaining the idea could land you in hot water. On top of that, she's already told you: the age gap is too much for her. Sorry, but that's how it is. As you both get older, age gaps mean less and less, but at 16, it's absolutely normal for her not to want to go above 3 years older. Is what it is. Now with that aside, here's something just as important to remember: You're in different countries, all you're going to get is friendship at the very best. You aren't going to get the actual benefits of a romantic relationship; not even the non-sexual benefits. You can get verbal support and encouragement, you can have a great friendship, but you're not going to be able to hug her, you're not going to be able to spend time with her, you're not going to make the same wonderful memories. That's not fair on YOU. You should be looking for someone who can do things to look after you, to keep you company, to make memories with, to look after, to live life with. I get it, trust me, I get it. We all want to feel loved and appreciated, and it sucks to hell and back when we don't feel like we are. Internet relationships can feel like a way to eek out some small portion of that validation, but it's not the same and you'll be wasting your time, not giving yourself a chance to find the honest, real version of what you're after. Walk away from those feelings now (you can remain friends if you want) and you'll be opening the door to better opportunities. ...Just make sure to reach out for them when they come about, eh?

I live in Singapore and she lives in Malaysia so we're not that apart from each other and can meet occasionally if one of us traveled and also she keeps saying she's excited to meet me one day when she has the chance.
