That was completely unnecessary, has likely taken WAY too long than it was good for and Im very glad and happy you guys did it and I loved every second :D
"Fill" Collins. I clicked like as soon as that downbeat hit. Jared managed to take the longest build up ever and make it even more suspenseful. AND there was still a lesson at the end. Quality content all around.
Actually, yes. But I am NOT the instructor. I had help from Pianote's Lisa Witt with this vocal part. Singing this tune was much harder than I thought it would be.
The only acceptable cover of this song! Listened to the original yesterday and really got into all of the different elements beyond that icon fill. This song is so beautifully layered and I enjoyed hearing it all. Of course I laughed and geeked out at all the toms, all so different and pretty. I’m not a drummer but I have a deep appreciation and fascination for percussion.
There’s absolutely nothing more amazing than watching a drummer play such an AMAZING SONG with such feeling! I enjoyed watching as much as I did listening! Thank you for sharing this!
Fantastic. After watching your previous Iconic fill video, I have been the In the Air fill. Just good fun for a person who started at 48 years and will never be a drummer. Thanks
What am I doing in my drumming that's terrifying me right now? Playing the drums (with my garage door open) at 7:00pm for the 7:00 shift change to support our frontline workers. I especially play for nurses and police that are connected to my church. Every song I play is a terrifying (I have not played in years) but I want to keep supporting the people who are risking their lives everyday. I'm up to 137 songs and thank goodness for great neighbours. If I"m at my church I ring the church bell. If I have a meeting I have a retired minister who will cover for me . He plays his snare drum on his balcony. Thanks for sharing your love of drumming and your fear of singing! God bless Rev. Geof
Jared “Phil Collins” Falk. You are a man of many talents. Dude, I didn’t know you could sing. I love the way you guys planned out this video. It’s a great tribute to Phil Collins. And the 99 Tom’s. That’s dope! Thank you for encouraging us to get outside of our comfort zone and strive to reach for new heights.
I was just searching youtube for something to give me and intensify the feel of this fill. i didnt know it but i was just looking for exactly that and i just realized it during the fill. That is the unexpected culmination of a drummers climax! Finding it here without even knowing that i searched it breaks through to the next dimension!
I literally had to laugh out loud for your whole run through those Toms. UNTIL you just sat back down on the kit and seemlessly started playing again. had to watch it twice
@@redwarf8118 He seems to be wearing different shoes on the electric kit, vs. the acoustic one, but from the run back to the acoustic kit the shoes stay the same :P but on a serious note, after I put my comment up and rewatched it yet again, I realized a cut from the moving cam to a stationary one in front of the kit. there is definitely some room for conspiracies. Maybe he even owns two pairs of the same Shoes just to throw off the average viewer!!!
Never worry about negativity as those people are irrelevant mate, you boys have done wonders for drummers. Including me I’ve got your dvd books I’ve had for years when you first started. Keep it up and ignore the Wilson’s as we say in London
Holy crap... did not see THAT coming! Amazing! Jared, you’ve got a great voice... job very well done - thanks for sharing your talent, creativity and insight!
Man, that was way too cool. For my terrifying story: I am 16 years old now and I have been learning drums since the start of *2012.* I have been doing a Rockschool Exam each year, and I thought I'd be quite an expert, given that I would've done the highest exam (Grade 8) this year, but postponed it to next year due to the pandemic. I actually thought I would be so great but during quarantine I became terrified knowing how much I didn't know. For God's sake, I still need to learn my way around the (extended) kit! I never knew the correct techniques for rapid double bass, etc. During this time, though, I set off on a journey to learn all the necessary techniques, etc. as well as drumming culture for that matter. Next year is my last year in school and to leave my mark forever, my friends and I got together and we decided to play Through the Fire and Flames. Man, as the drummer, I never knew where to begin for I was really terrified, given the drummer has it the hardest for that song, but those conditions pushed me to be better, and learn what I didn't. A massive thanks to Drumeo for teaching me so much and helping me to go from "academic" drummer to true drummer.
@@YewrinePish Thanks, man. You know, I once learnt we are our own most damning critics. You know what I mean? Whenever I play a gig in front of my peers, like, say, Welcome to the Jungle, I think it's such a simple song, and I could go one up, yet all my peers think it's nothing short of amazing.
@@shalinpather4198 It also helps to remember that most people who listen to you drumming are no drummers themselves, so they're not as fine-tuned for all the little mistakes that make a drummer instantly cringe. I once played a recording of myself playing Sweet Child Of Mine for a friend and commented on how horrible it was and she looked at me in disbelief and said: "Really? I didn't even notice a difference to the original"... boy was she wrong... sometimes I wonder why even bother keeping proper time for such cretins :-D
I started teaching myself a few months ago. Thanks to a gift from a client, eBay and finally sweet water.com for the final 2 pieces, I have a 9 piece set. I’ve set a goal to play Nothing else matters in April and In the air tonight the end of July. Thanks for your help. Love all the videos.
I actually gave up on drumming completely during this pandemic. My wife bought my gretsch catalina as a Christmas gift for me in 2019, but we separated a few months ago, and I haven’t touched it since. Today was a day I contemplated suicide, and if I hadn’t made it past those moments I wouldn’t have had the chance to see this amazing video. I’m terrified of playing that catalina kit, but maybe it’s time I face those fears head on, instead of letting them take me out. Thank you for the great content and encouraging videos. They didn’t save my life, but I was able to crack a smile while watching this on my way to bed tonight. Peace drumeo
I am so sorry about all the challenges you've been having. You should absolutely get the kit out and start playing. It can be so therapeutic. And if you are feeling like hurting yourself, please call for help: 1-800-273-8255
Drumeo I got myself an appointment tomorrow with a counselor. And I’m going to an open mic tonight to enjoy some “music therapy”and jam on a friends kit while I’m there. Thank you for the encouraging reply. I’ve never had a lesson in my life and maybe I should hit y’all up soon for some. Peace.
That outro. Much love my guy. Somewhat terrified. Planned w love and kindness. So much negativity in the world in every walk of life. On the streets at the job online. We need love and kindness.
I am just pushing my limits getting out doin harder and harder songs on a very minimal drum set and I am trying to get better at my bass drum technique And actually just chillin on drums and practising different stuff that I see in vids and lessons but the most terrifying thing is actually going infront of people and showing the skills thanks for the motivation Jared !!
What puts me out of my comfort zone?.... well me being a beginner EVERYTHING, all my limbs dont do what I want them to or do things I dont want them to..... This is my inspiration and my dream to play this, but being 50 learning these actions maybe completed by 65...... that was ace Jared
That life lesson at the end hit deep!! Making me feel a lot better about the uncertainty that lies ahead of me drumming wise with so many new projects on the horizon!! 🥁🥁
Drumeo was just a setup so Jared could gain enough reputation and clout to do this 🤣😂. Hilarious! In honesty though, great message about getting out there and pushing your comfort zone
I started playing with floor toms on both sides of me as a right handed drummer. It made me nervous because I am using a Slingerland marching snare as a snom but primarily as a low pitch medium tom to reduce cross sticking and provide a stereo separation. But I am glad I moved out of my comfort zone. The possibilities are amazing now!
Hello, I am a massive fan of Phil Collins and Genesis (apart from the first and last albums). I love Peter, Steve, and Anthony too. I saw some footage of the latest Genesis concerts and was sad to see Phil sitting in a chair. I found this today and could see where it was going but was still in wonder when you did it. Thank you it made my day I smiled and had a tear too. Forty years people. Thanks, Jared. Love and Peace Adam x
Great job!!! I remember, (how could I ever forget? see what I did there?😜) an old video of Gene Krupa (I think) running around playing all kinds of rack toms, floor toms & even some kick drums they'd put up on stands & set up in kind of an 'S'-shaped pattern. He also had some stan-mounted cymbals, tambourines, chimes etc he usede in a solo that was about 5 minutes... It was awesome to see that as a little kid!
It would've taken 3 days to take off all the bottom heads and make sure to keep the rims/heads organized so they go back properly.... But I totally thought about it!
Really enjoyed watching this. Great playing. Some light relief as my hometown (Newport, South Wales, UK) re-enters lockdown tonight at 6pm. Appreciate your message. I'm currently challenging myself by working on the Purdie Shuffle!
JARED......JARED....THAT WAS SOOOO TIGHT! I GOT EXCITED WHEN I SAW YOU RUNNING AROUND TAPPING THOSE TOMS... I WAS WAITING FOR THAT ROLL.... YOU DID THAT NICELY BRAVO!!!!! 💯💯💯💯💯
Well, if you can’t play that fill now, after watching this, not sure. I just received a 1982 Graach kit today and that’s how I found this video. I love Drumeo.
Not drumming related, but I'm starting teaching high school for this first time this week and I'm a little terrified. I clicked on this video for cheap entertainment and got some serious motivation out of it. Thanks to all involved!
