I received mine this morning and had it installed 30 minutes later. Packing was excellent (USPS damage proof). Install took almost 15 minutes. Hardest part was wedging my 6'2" body under the dash so I could see what I was doing. This is a true "Plug and Play" install. Throttle response of my truck is now instantaneous, instead of sluggish. I do need to retrain my right foot to be softer on the gas pedal after years of "throttle by wire" vehicles. The first time I drove it I spun the tires without meaning to do so. Great Price, great value. I will definitely recommend this to my friends. Keep in mind - it does NOT increase HP, but it unleashes the HP already there quicker.
2nd time watching the vid, but remembered your laugh when you put it in "party mode" is what sealed the deal for me - like pure joy. Just got one for my Mazda!😂
THANKS FOR THE VID! Ya gott wear your seatbelt bro...you may be the best driver in the world...the guy coming from the other direction may be the worse. By the time u find this out youre already in a head on collision. you know this....but we all need reminders sometimes. Thumbs up!
Its the iphone port imo. It's constantly plugged in all the tie and kno ho long iphone cables last. I had one and it lasted about a year and a half. Swapped it out for a "fukin tuned" throttle controller. It's controoled by an app. 2 years now wiht no issues. only got it because it's hidden and no control box. This way I know who drivess my truck can't mess with settings. Only thing is there is an american flah on the box lol I covered it with tape lol@@aimless3827
makes sense I'm going with this over Pedal commander with my cold air intake and replacement of the stock muffler to flowmaster on my 18 charger gt plus then just working on the exterior how I want it keep it up
Hello I just added one to my Dodge Ram does the light on the unit stay on after you turn the ignition off and pull the keys mine does I was wondering if that is usual?
Question: should the connections from the disconnected pedal connector (coming from the car) actually be making contact with the second connector connections or is the second connector (from the 9drive) more like a cover then a actual connection point?
Unplug gas pedal connector & plug it into the 9 drive connector then plug the remaining connector into the gas pedal & plug the small cable into the 9 drive unit That's it!!!
I bought one off of Amazon model ka-898 under electronic throttle controller. I installed it on my 2012 Toyota tundra SR5 crewmax and let me tell you it works better than the pedal Commander and for not even a third of the prize you can't go wrong with that I hope everybody reading this comment can find one. And all honesty all you're doing is modifying the response on the electronic throttle control nothing more not adding power not nothing.
I will try this on my new 2020 ram 1500 ....but please put the seat belt on !!! Lol....and a link for viewers so u can send them directly where u purchased from would help...not been a hater just trying to help for future videos, I had a pedal commander and almost cashed several times cause it failed u can search my channel to see what happens...if anyone is even interested....good video and thank u I will definitely give it a try an make a review my self 😊
There's sometimes ways to disable it. I remember I disabled mine on the dodge avenger. It's a procedure of plugging the seat belt in/out multiple times
@@JamesAutoDudehad to do that shit to all the work trucks and even my buddy’s trucks because I can’t fucking stand driving around with them having the chime going off the whole time
@@matthewchamakese6620 you don’t need alfaodb for that. There is a video on RU-vid that I followed to do. You just turn your key to run and click the seat belt In and out three times and turn the ignition off. No programer needed
When you installed it, did you have to do anything before hand? Like have the key FOB away from the car or any small thing like that… or did you just get in there and plug it up?
I put the 9 drive on my 2018 6.2 F250. first off I got check engine and hill assist not available. "I don't have hill brake assist". Then while idling I pressed the peddle and for a few cycles got no noticeable acceleration. then it would accelerate very slowly. I turned the engine off and restarted. same issue. third try no problem and set at 2.6 the throttle was very responsive. I drove the truck the rest of the day with no issues. This morning I got un to go to work and t=it was just like when I first installed it. Turned engine on and off a few time the same as the first and it worked fine getting to work. Will see if this "relearn issue is a daily thing. if it is it is coming out. This would be kind of sad because it really wakes up the truck.
Just bought mine but it does nothing, not sure if the settings are wrong , it has EC1-EC9 and 800-913 I have no idea what that is, anyone please help, my truck is 2014 1500 5.7
So does it turn on automatically and save the settings from previous when you turn off the car and turn it back on? Or do you have to turn it in manually and set it again? Please answer
it turns on automatically and shuts off automatically, a few minutes after you shut the truck off. yes it does stay on the setting you choose, no need to mess with it at all after you set it, unless you decide to change modes. i daily drive mine on mode 3.9, it makes a huge difference.
@@sfiv1987 No, not even close. I have a DiabloSport tuner and am running a custom Jay Greene 92 octane tune, with a K&N CAI, HighFlo Sweet Thunder exhaust, on a 2012 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 with 3:55 gears and average over 19mpg.
Hi, very informative, advanced, and complete information regarding the throttle controller, thank you, but I have a question I hope the admin or PeaJay can answer regarding safety issues, My question is what if the throttle controller's device suddenly fails? or the little wire cut? Do we still have the control of gas pedal? or it will be back to normal mode? Thank you for hoping PeaJay can enlighten us. thank you again!
In a ram, if it suddenly stops working, the truck will go into limp mode. Just unhook it. Than unhook the battery for about 5 mins and hook it back up and it will be back to normal.
It doesn't connect to the OBD2, so it's not constantly drawing power from the battery, if that's your concern. I doubt it can damage the ECU however, my guess.
If i go to eco mode , can i switch it while car is in motion but my foot NOT on gas pedal. Want to be able to accelerate onto freeway safely but then switch to eco mode to save gas while cruising on highway ? Do i have to switch back to normal before turning car off out if eco mode so there is no code popping up on my next start up ? Any help is appreciated ?
@@PeaJayYt any pedal control units are NOT recommended changing modes while driving it will cause codes to pop up not only that you're not in control of the vehicle while changing modes can result in a accident and NONE of them are responsible if you get into accident or any issues it may cause EVERY owners manual will tell you this
@@joe7528 He asked if you can. And the answer to that question is yes. 9drive does not state that you cannot change modes while driving anywhere. To add, I have never had one code pop up and if you lose control, it's more on the driver than the unit. Because the unit doesn't make a huge difference
@@PeaJayYt make sure you read ALL warnings in the manual it will tell you it's not recommended changing modes while driving every one of them tell you this cause it's a legal disclaimer and not to mention changing modes while driving the ECU don't have enough time to respond going one mode to the next while driving and this will throw throttle position sensor codes or CEL codes and will cause the vehicle to go in limp mode
Hey PJ. Just watched this video because I was thinking about adding a Pedal Commander to my own truck. It peaked my interest when I saw the title and thought I’d check it out. I just purchased a 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.7L Hemi and 3.92’s. Can you tell me, are these 9Drives vehicle specific or can I just purchase one and go?
Hi, great. After install , how you feel pedal lag? My car is hyundai Tucson 2016. Can you share me, thank you. It’s use over every car, or 1 pack for 1 car. Thank you very much.
I just bought mine from American muscle for 130 plus tax and 2 day shipping it was 150, didn’t want to risk with eBay and Amazon I get it Friday, will give y’all a update..
Update it’s worth the money in every way, you can tell a difference once you take off. Eco mode made me save a few miles, sports mode works great. I highly recommend this product, I own a 2016 Dodge Charger se and it really makes a difference get up wise, not horsepower. Worth every dollar I say..
Hi guys interested in this but have read some feedback about these controllers possibly causing problems in the throttle sensor in the long term. Anyone out there who's had one of these activated for a long time and can say whether they've had issues?
i had same problem.. engine stop.. p-3.9 mode. had to reset ecu back to normal cause warning engine icon light up.. and cannot start till ecu resetted.
I have ran throttle controllers (9 drive, pedal commander, Fukin tuned) on my truck for 6 years. This doesn't make any changes to the ECU. Engine light only comes in when people mess with the settings while driving, but of course everyone denies that they did that.
Essentially you just disconnect the 2 present connectors and put this in line (i.e. in series) so that it is part of the cable. I recommend a setting of around 2.5 because holy shite, does is take off like a rocket on my Subi Outback! Good luck.
Great info!!! 9-drive is the way to go for sure. I love mine! I must ask why to you call your truck a Dodge???...............that name left years ago. Its RAM.
Well I got mine coming in tomorrow and I’m so excited, I’m going to the strip the day after so it’ll be a good evaluation on how well it works:) now if I could just find a way to permanently turn off the damn traction control in the dodge chargers🤔
Nec Hab hey so there’s definitely a difference in how it feels, this video nails it on the head. Even just having it in 1.1 wakes it up and makes it feel new and peppy. I drive with 2.1 and when I want to launch the car I use 3.9. However it’s not a performance mod but it will trick you a little bit. I definitely recommend it over the PC. It’s worth about 50-70 bucks but it’s a joke to pay almost 400 for the same thing. It’s not that revolutionary. But yea enjoy it it’s a pretty cool little gadget
