I think they had a more durable metal case watch. These new ones are nice, but I suppose the resin case watch would not last so long..

Too right... however, being a watch geek, I'm always looking at what people are wearing... and it's mostly smart watches and fashion watches...most people really don't understand! Casio is cheaper and has much more to offer as a true great watch

@@ant7699 that sounds really great. And you're very right. My collection is a F91w and a square G shock 5600E... I would like an Omega some day as I used to own a Speedy, and also an Explorer. But those things are very expensive and at the end of the day I don't know if they'll bring as much joy

But luckily they survived and have become some of the most expensive types of movement on the market. Out of these more expensive watched... Ive never been keen on omega tbh... Something about the dial and the hands... I just don't like the style... So I'd probably start off my collection with a Rolex... Tudor apparently ate quite good watches........a company that does good quality rolex homage style watches with a much more reasonable price tag is a company called pagani..... You can get a well made timepiece for £90...or even $90....these watches include sapphire glass and also have a.. Automatic movement.... I might get myself one to see how I get on with it... I think they even do a Rolex daytona homage which is skelwtonised... Looks the bomb.... Sorry I'm waffling now... Enjoy your evening

@@appleb305 I have several G shocks. (The 168 he is talking about is not a G shock, but it is pretty durable.). The basic G shock at $40 is just fine, though the upper left button is recessed to make it less likely to hit it by accident. My favorite G shock is the glx 5600, which has moon and tide phases.

Don't judge me. Sometimes, after I've finished building a multimillion-dollar home, I drop my beat up Casio inside an unfinished wall, with the alarm set to some ungodly hour. Just a little reminder of The Working Man, to help the millionaire get settled in.

In the Finnish military it's a custom to hide these in the lockers after your service ends with the alarms set for during all hours of the night to bully the next batch of conscripts.

Albeit, this one deserves more respect than some of the watches 20x it's price!

Funny, I have two F-91W's the band broke on the first one quite quickly though, also they removed it form both the classic and vintage section so it's not as easy to find on their site

My first 3 watches (gifts) are Casios and I love them. I wear my waveceptor every work day, and it's 15 years old now. I put the Seiko automatic after-work so that I don't have to adjust it every time. Watches are like cars, enjoy every end of the spectrum 👌

I hate this bad advice. There is 0 reasons to collect watches if your collection ideology is to check off checkmarks like owning a g shock, owning a diver, owning a dress watch. I have a casioak and it sucks. It has poor legibility, especially since the LED doesn't light up the entire watch, it's thick and for large wrists, and setting it up is a nightmare. Every collection should have atleast one G shock though right guys???? I think every collection should stop being bloated with cheap quartz watches and misaligned seikos, you're just slowing yourself down from getting a watch you actually want.

Im old enough to remember when they would put this watch in candy vending machines, so you would feed it quarters in the hopes of getting this watch!

@jnnx nope, that was the F-91W. Similar looking watch but it's not the same. This is the A168, it's larger and doesn't come with that plastic band like the vending machine F-91W did. If you saw them side by side as a comparison you'd be able to see the difference. I love the A168 model so much. I have 5 different styles of the A168 and I could never choose which one I like most

Timex are terrible. Armitron are ok beaters but they're also not as good quality as Casio.

I tend to agree. I have one Vostok mechanical because I think everyone should have at least one mechanical (just as everyone should have at least one digital) but I do find myself gravitating towards the design and utility of Casios.

Don't be fooled, the new ones are NOT the same quality. I had my old one for 15+ years. The new one i bought last year looked as worn as the old one within 5 months

@@grossteilfahrer Well of course, different industry standards, different materials, completely different time and therefore very different production process. That doesn't mean these things don't still take a punch, only weakness on them that I have come across is the bands are cheap, and that goes for all the vintage makes

My watch survived my work as carpenter and welder but just one accident broke it

I have done a couple videos about jobs for different occupations. People seem to like those so I’ll probably do more in the future.

I have also stopped watching some channels because of the tendency to just cover hype models, or mid-high end luxury watches. Teddy, JOMW, Relative Time, and a few others get my views now, because they cover a mix of watches that I find more interesting. Bruce Williams seems to have come back down to earth somewhat, so I watch more of his stuff now as well.

To be fair, your comment sounds pretty unfair to higher priced watches. Just because they're expensive also doesn't mean it can't be cool or interesting. And just because others cover it doesn't really mean they're watch snobs. It just means people wanna watch that stuff and me too and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with creating or viewing content of more expensive watches and that's regardless of whether you're able to afford them. It's great that we have RU-vid and we can even see those pieces which we might not be able to afford. And even if you can afford some of them it's great to be able to see so many of them, more than you can own. I just think your comment is so negative and critical of expensive watch content when we should all just be glad that we can see them all so conveniently

Exactly, I love how casio has embraced that sort of retro aesthetic and still makes these watches for those who want that look.

Im in the army and the black plastic version was my everyday watch for like 2 years, i evently replaced it with a fitbit style band(for tracking steps,sleep,heartrate, ect) but it was as tough as they come and was always reliable

you might be interested in the a1000 series, they have full stainless steel cases and different bracelets, but I don’t believe they’re any more water resistant than the a168. still might be worth looking into though

I got the sightly different option of the F91W- so not the blue ascents, but brown / gold outline on the dial. Very subtle green / grey screen. Love it.... getting used to the size so that I'm ready when that 36mm Explorer becomes available in a few years!

No one can forget F91W. The only solid watch that costs less than a fast food dinner for two.
