Captain Richard (Rich) M. Hall recollects his first combat mission in 1968, where he was qualified for combat after only two flights. The mission was against Khan Kai, the Chinese embassy in North Laos, and he was specifically instructed not to hit certain buildings. During the mission, he managed to bomb off the rocket pod when requested to mark the target, which made him feel lost. The area was heavily guarded, and they were under constant flak. Charlie Coleman, his wingman, attempted to split them from low altitude and did not make it back alive. The mission was a tragedy. The interview also touched on a Troops in Contact Support (TIC) mission and a story about a LERP team that was stuck and pinned down, and Captain Rich was sent to help.
