Watch me build from plan and test fly a 56cm wingspan, indoor foam RC plane, based on the A-10 Warthog. This will be powered by twin 30mm brushed EDF jets.
See my previous video where I test out the AFHDS 2A receiver and differential thrust 30mm EDF jets.

I use 3mm printing foam for the construction, using techniques that I picked up from the aeronautical engineer in the family.
I bought the 3mm printing foam sheets from the ZART shop in Melbourne.

Great flying conditions

Yeah, I’ve been busy upgrading and testing the next version of this plane (lighter but strong) and the weather has been perfect for flying in the park.

the elevator is in the 'prop' wash.! thus, pitch control is not normal. this is a vertically offset pusher thrust configuration. but, in this case, the locations of the sources of thrust are abnormal. as a result, it is impossible to achieve an optimal thrust line/angle. the best solution to this problem would be the use of some negative aoa at the edf mounts. note that in the absence of this change being made, the edfs produce unscheduled Nose-down moment, all the time. it can be seen in the design of the engine exhausts of an a-10 (and f-4) that an adjusted thrust angle has been used.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. It’s had a few updates since this video was made. I recently made a new EDF mount in my 3D printer. I could redesign this to have adjustable aoa. I’ve found that CG is critical. I also discovered the hard way that when the voltage drops and you throttle up, the elevators give full right! It’s OK with high ‘C’ value lipos though.

0154 OVER-sized, extra heavy vert-stabs.! a decision to put the mass of a servo(s) at the tail Should be an INFORMED one.! specifically, putting the mass of a servo at the tail Increases the amount of tail-heaviness in a model's dom. distribution of mass. 0239 the tail boom should have been strengthened via the use of the LIGHTEST possible materials; aka one, strategically placed (foam) FORMER. 0301 due to their Mass, the use of metal components and steel screws is not recommended. do you understand that the rudder linkage used does not produce equal deflection of the rudders. 0308 the THIN pretend cockpit acts as an 'extra' and unwanted vert-stab. 0405 it appears that the rudder control horns are not correctly configured. rudders are also Huge. 0415 cg should be located at thirty percent of chord. a low-wing model Should be inverted during cg balancing.
