A-10A Warthog: AGM-65 Maverick Tutorial | DCS WORLD 

I gotta say, I finally got a computer to run dcs. Your tutorials have given me the confidence to get in there and try. I was quite intimidated watching pros play. Thanks and hat's off to you.

Combat Arms Training and Maintenence (CATM) version of the AGM-65K. Its the non launching inert training version with the electronics. That way people can simulate using the systems and slewing without actually firing it.

As I have not yet seen a DCS mission with the aim of taking out a single apartment in high rise, I recommend using the IR versions (D and G) at any time. Such a mission might by the way be quite fun: The no1 bandit is in the flat on the 7th floor, the NE corner of the building at position xxx,yyy - take him out with no collateral damage!

After 2 years of watching videos, yours mainly, I've finally got a new computer that will run DCS and waiting for a cheapo Logitech joystick to be delivered to me in Panama. In the meantime, I bought FC3 last night and learning/practicing using a keyboard/mouse. If it weren't for these various videos I'd be totally lost. ATM, I'm learning the A10 in a practice scenario I created in mission editor. Hopefully, I'll be a bit more proficient with the workings of this thing once my joystick arrives. In theory anyway. Again, cheers mate!

Everyone who comes here because of mission number one: Wheel in from steerpoint two equipped to the max with mk-20s put them about 1000 feet apart and carpet bomb that column of tanks. There is too much clutter to employ mavericks on those tanks - the ones in the clearing to the right are easy though . Don’t get closer than 8 miles if you use Mavericks kill the shilkas and then you can roll on the tanks with your cannon. Brrrrrrrtttt

Whats the deal with the screen whiting out in IR mode. I thought at first it may be because I was looking into the sky but that wasnt the case.

I know this video is quite old now but is ther any control over tv sensor brightness in the old A-10A as I cant make out diddly squat on mine when trying to find ground targets for the IR-mavs?

Zoom in and out aswell target lock not work with the A-10A and any of the AGM-65D missiles. Tryed out same buttons as you show with my HOTAS aswell the keybord and rebind. With the SU 25 i have no problems with it.

what's the best way in the dumbed down lock on version to fire and hit target from max range. I keep getting clobbered at close range

I have two AGM-65Ds and the HUD shows "/2", but when I fire one shot, the TV turns off and the HUD shows "AGM-65D/1", and I have to press the D key to select AGM-65D again to use the other one. How do I fix this problem?

Hand salute to you cap. I am attempting to complete the first mission of the A-10A campaign in FC3. I have watched your vid on how to lock/aim/fire the AGM-65 several times and have set my controls up exactly as you suggested. Still not getting the results I want so therefore I am reaching out for assistance. First thing, I have a circular display in the upper right corner of the screen. It is a nav/target map. I have been unable to remove it. Whenever I try to zoom in/out on the ir seeker display, the input is reflected on the nav/target map. Not what I want. Next, when I press the target lock button I do not get a lock on the terrain. The ir sensor snaps to a different target. If I turn and fire on that target I do get a shack. In this mission my primary target is 3 T-72 tanks but I can not get a lock on any of them. In your video you mentioned a manual. Where do I find these manuals. I would like to read them. I appreciate any help you can give me. I did try to join the training server but my ping rate is too high so until I can correct this I will be solo and continue to watch all of your great videos from the sidelines. Thanks, Snakeye505

I looked at the settings for the A-10 A and couldn’t find anything about the Maverick am I looking in the wrong place?

Hi Cap! Hope you are doing extremely well. I just joined in on the DCS fun and must say: Thanks a ton for the tutorials, helped me out a lot. But, as you can imagine, I've got a question. Is there a way, to disable the "lock on" ability to buildings? I've got a mission, where I need to kill some tanks but the lock on always snaps to the buildings next to them and not to the tanks. Anything I can do there?

I have watched this tutorial three times, checked all my controls, did exactly what you did, and my AGMs DO NOT lock onto the land or the targets in front of me. It always locks onto a target 20+ miles away or it locks onto an ejected pilot standing on the ground. Slew never locks onto a hard target. My targeting monitor will not zoom in or out. Is there a sub-setting that I'm not getting right? This sorta thing never happened in Flaming Cliffs.

CATM stands for Captive Air Training Missile, they are inert and stay on the olane.

Amazing video, you helped me a lot with this game but I still have a problem: I can lock the target(s) but I can't fire the missiles. I have checked and changed my controls multiple time but it still doesn't work... Can anybody help me pls?

When you talk about "miles" do you mean US land miles or nautical miles? Flying in knots i guess nautical.

Does anyone else find it frustrating that the target reticle automatically recenters itself after firing? i would like to be able to fire at a target and then just slew over to the target next to it and fire again

Trying to find a real target and not a bush or a building with the Mavericks is too challenging its pretty stupid so Ive bought the tank killer version, looks more promising for targetting.

How do you get it so all the buttons and switches are working? In my dcs all the buttons and switches are kinda of blurry and I don’t have a cross hair so I can’t click on them. Thanks

Tried attacking a ship with missiles.... Stupid f*cking mav wouldnt lock on to anything and i died to AAA. Google is no help since everyone talks about the a-10C rather than the a-10A so i cant find a fucking answer. Im fucking livid if you couldnt tell....
