A 2017 LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY OPEN HOUSE

This video was repackaged on 3 May 2017 to better reflect the nature of its content and to bring it into line with previous year's videos on the subject. The Severn Valley was bathed in cloudless skies for the 'Open House' and I have attempted to cover all the events of the weekend Including : Trains on the SVR mainline, Bridgnorth Station development progress, Bridgnorth Loco Works, Live steam South African Class 15F, Models and the full size thing in the Kidderminster Diesel Depot, The Kidderminster Museum, Bewdley North Signal Box, Loco, wagon & carriage work at Bewdley, The Engine House at Highley with models & full size locos and country station scenes at Arley. Videoing sessions took place all Saturday & the Sunday morning, April 8 & 9th. However, the Bridgnorth Station building scenes were shot on the previous Thursday, hence the quietness.

Excellent film. I've traveled on the SVR a couple of times in the last 40 years but never been to an Open House. It's now firmly on my bucket list.

Wonderful video showing just what it takes to keep such a beautiful railway going. Lovely train stations, perfectly kept platforms and lighting etc. I am a member of a HO scale train club in a disused British Colonial railway station and on occasions I have seen the whole building being vandalised with graffiti! Our station is at the end of a line facing a golf course and unfortunately we no longer have steam trains coming but we still do have suburban trains coming to the station. So I watch all the steam train videos on RU-vid with appreciation and nostalgia. Greetings from the Train Lord in South Australia.

I would like to thank you for the video making of this film , it reminds me of my young years as a boy. In wanting to be a steam locomotive driver , and sadly the time of when we had line closers,but if it wasn't for people like us and enthusiasm by many more steam would had died , thank you . Didn’t British Rail use this as part of its route on the overnight Wales ie Cardiff to Paddington milk train in the sixties? The journey took four or five hours so can anyone help?

Not at all. It's through the small footpath tunnel under Eardington Bank giving access to the small wood on the east side of the line. The meadow in the background is where most shots on the bank are taken from.

Yes of course. The original HD is 30Mb but a smaller version is less than 3Mb and therefore e-mailable.
