I have just bought a Norden 901 Expedition, but I am very seriously considering changing to the 701 or 690. For similar reasons, plus the Norden is quick and I can't use it on the road and have fun with ending up doing speeds, I am not happy with as a result. Great and helpful video.

Hi, don't think the 701 or 690 aren't fast, they certainly are. I think with the 701 etc you get the best of both worlds. A sprightly bike which will always put a smile on your face and a very capable bike when it comes to going on an adventure or riding the trails alike. I did look at the 901 but it didn't appeal to me at all. 👍

@@701Adventures thank you for the reply, I think a better phrasing from me would be it seems the 701 / 690 has more usable power? I am going to see if I can get a test ride on one.

I think you've said it all, the Husky is a very capable bike and simply put does the job for you and many others I suspect.....I think it was a big move for you to change from the GSA to the 701 but your transition has clearly been quite seamless...

I’m a man of simple taste, I know that cos many people have said I’m simple, I assumed they meant I had simple tastes. 😂 You only need to look on the GS forum as even many GS owners are buying the 701 or the KTM 690. Build quality of the 701 actually seems better too than the more expensive GS/GSA. 👍

Great videos and your riding style is much like mine in that you’re not ragging it. I’ve fancied one of these for a while now mainly for it’s low weight and skinny profile. I’ve gone from GSA to Africa Twin Adventure Sport DCT to my current KTM 890 Adventure (non R) which I like for it’s lower weight and lower CoG. That said, I wouldn’t fancy it off-road other than maybe gravel. One thing that bothered me is it’s small fuel capacity. What fuel economy do you get? Some seem to get amazing economy, others pretty poor. Many thanks, Ian

@701Adventures 11 месяцев назад
Ian, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I tend to get anywhere between 160-180 miles out of a tank which I don’t think is too bad. It may have a small fuel capacity but you have to remember it’s quite a light bike and only 700cc so it doesn’t guzzle fuel unless you want it to guzzle fuel by riding everywhere at 100mph. 👍
@ianross225
@ianross225 11 месяцев назад
@@701Adventures Thanks for that. I ask because, anorak that I am, I’ve had amazing economy from various bikes, the best being 90mpg from a Triumph Speedmaster. Even my GSA could get high 60s and Honda ATAS similar. My 890 will top 70mpg. Your range sound pretty good and I’m sure the light bike helps but you’re clearly someone with machine sympathy. Cheers, Ian

@701Adventures 11 месяцев назад
@@ianross225 Yes even when I had my BMW K1600 and the GSA I could easily get mid 60mpg. There’s never any need to ride at warp factor 9 everywhere as some riders appear to do!
@ianross225
@ianross225 11 месяцев назад
@@701Adventures With so much anti car/bike sentiment the one thing a bike should have is great fuel economy yet the official figures are poor as are road testers’. I’d like to see bike tests actually trying for best economy rather than thrashed everywhere.

Well it looks like it's working for you so far and probably the right bike for those shorter winter runs that will be coming up soon. I Don't blame you for stopping at East Riddlesden Hall, it's a beutiful old place and a National Trust site is usually a dead cert for a decent cup of coffee and somewhere for a pee!

I've heard them called all sorts of things, I wasn't sure what the correct category was. As for the T7, there's a few people I follow on RU-vid, mostly in Oz who ride the T7's and they seem very impressed with them. 👍

Just subscribed to the channel, I love the Husky 701, I currently have my third one, nice videos btw 👍 Have you ever considered a more comfy seat, since you mention you do some touring one the 701? The stock one is horrible... I have a SeatConcepts seat and if it wasn't for that, I've probably would have sold the 701 and got something else, wich is a pity because the bike is sooo fun to ride and can't be compared to anything else on the market nowadays..

Hi & thanks for subscribing. I’ve had two, I started with a 2018 and then bought the 22 plate one in April this year. I’ve been brainwashed by BMW the last few years and found myself buying GSA after GSA, but in reality everything I want and need from a bike I can find in the 701. It’s an outstanding machine. Strangely I find the standard seat ok, I’ve done 400 plus miles in a day on it without any problems, however I may look at SeatConcepts as I’ve read some good things about their seats. Thanks for leaving a comment, much appreciated. 👍

If it works well for you, then go with it! I appreciate the storage and load carrying ability, and the heavier weight of the larger bikes for a more solid road presence. If I was thrashing around on poor roads and dirt trails, then a lighter dual sport for sure. I like the 1250 GSA for getting me someplace in comfort, and then onto prepared dirt roads for camping. Ride on! 👍😎🏍

@701Adventures Год назад
The best bike I've ever had for road presence was my BMW K1600, a totally awesome beast but the pannier capacity was disappointing. Currently my Husqvarna suits my needs and I'm having a blast with it. 👍

Nice video and some lovely locations. Similarly looking for a nimble bike that is spirited in the twisties but also smooth and agile on rough terrain. How does the Husqvarna behave at low revs? Is the throttle smooth? Does it pick up easily from low revs?
@701Adventures
@701Adventures Год назад
I’ve had no issues with using it at low revs, crawling through traffic etc and the throttle action is very smooth. As for its pickup and acceleration, it’s so rapid it can catch you off guard if you’re not careful. Try and get a test ride on one. 👍

I enjoyed the video. Quick question, how has it been for reliability? I hear the clutch is a common issue? Also what tyre's would u recommend on the husky? Finally, wind noise? My ears are knackered! Most AB have loud wind noise due to the screens , as this doesn't have much of one I'm hoping it rides more like a naked in this respect. Thx

@701Adventures Год назад
Christian, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Up until recently I had two 701's, a 2018 and a 2022. The new 701's come with an upgraded clutch slave, usually the Oberon one. My 2018 701 had the clutch slave replaced prior to me purchasing it. Reliability wise, hand on heart, I've had no issues with either of the bikes, they start first time every time, all the electrics are good and even with accessories fitted, satnav and connectors for heated clothing I've had no problems. On the older bike which I've sold I had Michelin Trackers which are 90/10 off road focused and the current tyres on the new bike are the factory fitted ones but I can't remember what make or model they are and the bike isn't with me at the moment so I can't check. I tend to wear ear plugs so wind noise is negligible but even without the ear plugs I don't feel like I'm being subjected to a constant barrage of white noise, it really is a dream bike to ride. 👍

If you are comparing the 701 to the GSA, K1600 you’re comparing apples to oranges
@701Adventures
@701Adventures Год назад
Bill, I partly agree with that statement. Firstly the K1600 is in a league of its own in my opinion. However when it comes to the GS/GSA the abilities of that bike and the 701 are, at least on paper very similar if ridden by the average rider. Again in my opinion, for the average rider, (not a professional) the 701 has a distinct advantage over the BMW in that it is more forgiving on the trails and you can virtually just point and shoot and it will go where you want it to. The BMW is much more refined and requires gentle coaxing on the trails to avoid costly mistakes. The 701 is just as capable of being ridden all day long on a tour and the luggage carrying ability easily matches the BMW. I’ve previously owned two K1600’s and I was blown away by the bike, nothing comes close to it that I’ve ever experienced so far. I’ve had three GSA’s, the last one being a 1250. All were great and did what they should but the paint quality on them was comical so much so that BMW authorised a new engine on my first GSA within the first 30 days of ownership! The 701 is used and by BMW’s standards possibly even abused and yet it just keeps on delivering the goods, so for that reason, currently at least it is the bike I choose to own. 👍
