RTD posted a video tonight, Something has clearly happened, now they are saying there's more to be revealed about her, hence the "limited return" = they saw how it ended and expected the reaction its getting. If you think back for weeks the tabloids went crazy over rumours she had been dropped.
I think Sutekh's original line in Pyramids is "where I tread I leave only dust". He didn't say he could turn people to dust and his avatar Scarman doesn't. But there we go with "wouldn't it be cool if" literality...
There seems some confusion just what taking the Dog walkies in time brought back. But given how many places got wiped out under Chibnall I think we can go on the basis anything RTD wants back he's now made that possible, Saying Sutekh tagging along must have had that knock on effect. I totally get why people are flat, Why was Rubys mother wearing that setup? it was 19 years ago not 190. Unless Mogg was her stylist. There entire reunion with her Mum was more like a soap, I think its coming to the crux of the problem RTD overworked the Ruby storyline and paid less attention to the main story. knew from the start Flood was going to be a character he's keeping, But her comments at the end really felt like "Btw this Doctors gone after 3 seasons".
Getting rid of a god with some intelligebt rope and magic gloves taking him for a ride down the time vortex- that's plain juvenile. That bringing all previously destroyed back to life - oh dear another reset button finale. I'd rather the self contained classic stories like Blink, Midnight, Heaven Sent, even The Eleventh Hour. This finales are justa sugar hit. All noise and a nice veneer covering up woeful scripts.
The Sutekh thing actually kinda explains the voice in the Pandorica opens episode. The voice inside the Tardis that says silence will fall could have been him
Mrs flood is definitely a villain . I didn’t think so at first but she becomes more menacing and ominous as the season progresses. Her comment about Cherry being a tiny woman implies she feels she is above them., that plus the comment about tearing down the gates of heaven or whatever it was. Also the music at the very end when she is on the roof implies villainous intent. Her rings I feel are significant. She wears less of the same rings earlier in the episode. Also that suitcase is important I’m sure it’s a way of Russell giving us hints. I seen a picture of the prop online and it’s covered in stickers form places the doctor has been, alien and earth places.
More episodes do not equal knowing characters better. I've watched Primeval which has a very small number episodes in the 1st season and character development is very good. Character development isn't built around number of episodes. It just means there are more opportunities to add to character development.
Lots of potential, but very rushed (that goes for the whole series, really). Holes everywhere, and things that just made no sense... for example, why would Ruby's Mum point to a road sign, indicating that that was the name she wanted the baby to have, when there was only the Doctor there... and she barely even seemed to notice him - it wasn't the Doctor she was pointing at, it was the sign - so just who was she "telling"?. If you think about it, the Doctor didn't tell anyone that the mother pointed at the road sign (and indeed, he hadn't remembered that himself)... so, no... it wasn't the mother who gave Ruby her name - it *was* the Social Workers (or whoever) as Ruby had originally assumed... so as a "sweet little story point", which I'm sure it was supposed to be, it just doesn't work. Wouldn't it have made more sense to leave a note with the baby? The idea of taking the dog for a walk (putting Sutekh on a lead and dragging him through the time vortex) was fun... but he has been attached to the Tardis for years (apparently), travelling through the vortex all that time, which served to help him evolve and grow his powers... so how that was supposed to kill him, wasn't really that well thought out Although, thinking about it, Sutekh only died when we was "cut off" from the Tardis, and the Tardis does have a "force field" around it, which protected Capt Jack, when he clung on to it... so maybe that did make some sense, after all!? The second Tardis turning-up in the "Time Window" which was made real *somehow* (instead of just being an image/hologram), and that became the Memory Tardis (or Memory of the Tardis), was somewhat contrived... probably just as bad an hitting the original Tardis with a hammer, causing it to create a duplicate of itself, in one of the specials. I struggled with understanding how killing Sutekh like that, would "reset" everything that he had done... but then I thought about the "Time Vortex" part of it... so maybe, by killing Sutekh that way, it meant that all the killing, just kind of didn't happen (it rippled back through time, erasing events from the timeline, maybe)... but if that was the case, surely the "seeding" of the Susan Twist characters everywhere that the Doctor either... and yet, Susan Triad was still there, at the end!? Also, if all that he had done was just "erased" from the timeline, then no-one would remember it... but it was indicated that they all remembered dying. I was fine with the idea that Ruby was just an ordinary person, after all. Maybe I'm a little disappointed that there wasn't more to it, given how the "mystery" was hyped-up - but thinking ahead, I'm kind of glad that she is just an ordinary human being. Except... the Doctor "explained" that the reason why Ruby's Mum was a mystery and seemed "important" or "special" was because they (and we, as an audience) made her seem that way. Really? Well, no!!! It's clearly not true. So a god-like being (such as Sutekh was supposed to be) would not only be sucked into that way of thinking, but also not be able to see through the guff and realise that Ruby's Mum was just an ordinary person... and would be so invested in the mystery that he "waited" for the mystery to be resolved by the Doctor!?!? Maestro commented that Ruby was special because of the magical "song" that was within her... then she was able to project her older self (ghost) back in time, to undo a whole timeline (although there was an attempt of an explanation, about the 73 yards business, being something to do with the Tardis' perception filter)... then there was the snow, and a few other things, that were all put in the stories to *suggest* that Ruby was something special, and had some kind of "power". And... did anyone ever tell Davina McColl that they discovered who Ruby's parents were!? LOL But... it was just a TV programme, so I enjoyed it for what it was (but glad I didn't suffer the disappointment of seeing it at the cinema), and probably won't worry about it too much.
The timeline wasn't reset by killing Sutekh in the vortex, it was done by dragging him through it and using his power of death. I think it was expressed as death of death equals life. But yeah, no better an explanation really, that killing death makes it alive?? 🤷♀🤷♀
Never seen and I might not if they don’t reduce the cost to a reasonable price because £40 is rediculous for 8 episodes and I’ve been a fan for half a century.
Disappointed final and as a whole season was poor. Should have kept Sutekh as he was in Pyramids of Mars than making him in a huge dog /rat this season was not traditional Doctor Who just stupid and weird some of effects /CGI were good and the music with exceptional Devil's Chord Ruby Sunday turning episode to a mini musical This was crap sorry but if this going to continue in so call 2nd season revamp i be switching off.
It’s not okay for me. A bit letdown but understandable. If this season’s too good, people will have greater expectation for the next season. However, if it flops, it’s not gonna make it to the next season. PS Mrs. Flood is a new, ordinary villain as simple as Ruby’s real mom.
This is interesting this evening RTD did another 1 minute post its NOT the end of the story with Ruby, Now this is very interesting because weeks ago they said it would be. Has it dawned on them the Snowing, changing the timeline etc. If you remember the media frenzy over would she even return for series 2. " A limited return" is how its being worded now. Also Mrs Flood is looking like the major character for series 2. Dobson gave an interview it sounded like she's staying around for series 3 also. The plot thickens So maybe the weaker elements of this finale are going to get the answers.
I’m sorry but I’m a bit confused. So we’re meant to assume that Sutech latched onto the TARDIS when the Doctor banished him to the time vortex in Pyramids of Mars - why didn’t the TARDIS try shaking him off or alerting the Doctor after that? And why did it only start groaning after Donna Noble spilt coffee on the console at the end of The Star Beast (groaning when the crash into the wall on the ship in Wild Blue Yonder - and in 1963 when meeting the Beatles) - plus when The 14th Doctor Bi-generated and 15 ‘doubled the TARDIS’ how did Sutech know to latch onto 15’s TARDIS & not stay on 14’s. Just a few plot holes that needed sorting really to take it from a good series finale to a great series finale - just felt like something was missing from the series plot after the amazing 60th anniversary episodes last year really.
