Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

Another great story, well told. We appreciate these bits of Scottish history tying to places outside of Scotland. I was raised in Ayrshire Scotland, but I lived in Kenmore, Washington state most of my adult life. We moved to the Skagit Valley when I retired, which is where we live now.

Anyway overall I found the people as great as the scenery.

Thanks for another well told bit of history. These stories that focus on participants in the greater events show an aspect of the struggles that often is overlooked. Sir Marmeduke’s relationship to the Bruces highlights the complexity of ties that often occur in border areas. I can only imagine that, for some participants, the possibility of facing a relative in combat must have created added stress.

An idea for a story for you Bruce. Arthur Thomas was a Scotsman explorer who was commissioned to explore and open up the interior of the State of Parana Brazil and in turn founded the cities of Londrina and Maringa in the north of the State in 1937. He named the city of Londrina (little London) As far as I know it's the only city in Parana that also has an Irish pub. And possibly in all Brazil.

A'reyt Bruce. Your soft spot for Yorkshire is showing in this cracking tale from a beautiful location. Those Normans were not that well liked here though, after the "Harrying of the North". You can see it from all the place names with "Robin Hood" in them. It does give me another chance to mention the RU-vid channel of a Yorkshire lass called Catherine Warr, which viewers might like? I mentioned this channel on comments there, after finding it and subscribing. It could do with some more subscribers I reckon. P.S. If that is not your kind of thing, then another Yorkshire lass, Lucy on Benidorm Stuff channel did a St Patrick's Day video, as if to prove my saying that if you scratch an Englishman you will find a bit of green.

Had Marmaduke Tweng been where Henry de Bohun was two nights before, we'd be hearing a woeful tale of killing a cousin who was English! And I'll wager both sides would've gotten the story 100% right for the exact opposite reasons!😀 Fortunately for this knight, it was after the battle and so bending a knee meant a dungeon cell at the worst or a good meal with a cousin you hadn't seen in ages! Here "scot" does not refer to a Scotsman. It was a tax, from the Latin 'scutum', meaning 'shield', which appeared on the coin used to pay it.
