@@KaweesaTanansi By pulling shirts and not getting a yellow, spain couldn't cope with the counters so they kept pulling down wirtz, musiala, Muller. But the ref suddenly thought those are not punishable offence.
@@sudiptosagorneel4933 Agreed, lets just ignore the 4 yellows Kroos shouldve gotten, played very dirty his last match and didnt deserve that win at all
@@sudiptosagorneel4933Germany played dirty from the start and you were fine with it?😂 . Kroos did more than 7 bookable offense and the ref didn't bat an eye. Germany was way physical and would have been silent if the early bookings were given. Spain did what they have to do imo and the ref had to overlook that in lieu of looking biased towards Germany
In my opinion he made a gamble. It was either: save your strikers for the next match and sub players who can impact the game in a more defensive approach, since they were currently winning and there is not much time left or keep the same forward players through the whole match expecting the same offensive approach. They won by mistake of Rudiger and pure individual brilliance of the Spanish players, his gamble paid off.
He had no option. Lamine was exhausted and wasn't supporting Carvajal in their defensive duties anymore. Perhaps he could have let Nico on the pitch 10 more minutes, but I think he was also tired
Also I think Nagelsmann got a bit of blowback from his decision to try to physically intimidate Spain's young players. Yes he got rid of Pedri but that meant Olmo came on and changed the game. Also nearly all the German defenders ended up yellow carded, and you really don't want Williams and Yamal running at you when one mistake means you're sent off. It's all very well being aggressive but when the opposition has top quality players who are press-resistant even in defence, the threat can come from anywhere. For example Laporte can get forward and get involved with the attack, or Cucurella. It's not like England where you can just leave Trippier free and he'll constantly pass it backwards.
Exactly! Didn’t like the rough them up approach. This was Germany’s undoing instead of playing their game. Spain was miles ahead brilliantly match nonethless one of best I have watch in euros.
that's the right way you handle Spain...agressive pressure, early attacking in their half (including keeper) combined with fast precise skilled passing . The purpose of pressure is to provoke mistakes...not physical fatigue
I would give both a 7/10. They both knew how to answer each other's tactic at some point. Nagelsmann made Spain perform much worse than they used to which is one of his qualities. They mostly shut down Yamal and Williams except for the 1-0 for spain where a cumulation of tiny mistakes in the german defence were brilliantly punished by the spanish. Some of Nagelsmann's ideas didnt work but the ingame coaching was rather successful. Germany had enough chances to go up by at least 2 goals in extra time alone. De La Fuente was really good at outplaying nagelsmann's tactics of creating danger in the last line. That's why he made Sané and Can look useless on the pitch. Switching in Dani Olmo for the injured Pedri was brilliant because they could exploit the spaces between the german lines. This is why olmo was heavily involved in both goals for spain. However, he failed to adapt to the changes that Nagelsmann made which could've backfired in extra time. After wirtz and fullkrug came on the spanish often couldnt even build up properly for like the last 30 minutes of regular time. They had to go for 50/50 long balls against taller players. The germans just missed their chances at the end and didnt get the penalty so de la fuente got a bit lucky there.
yeah, in England he doesn't get the respect he deserves. It's partly because he plays for Chelsea and it's more or less a joke of a club right now, but he is very solid and committed, with a lot of quality going forward and defensively
running man yes...but totally no effect for his team...instead he almost caused tragedy at the one second he stood still (denied penalty)"...just look at his face/eyes after the hand scene....that was pure fear...he knew it was a penalty
How tf will you take Lamine and Williams off after going 1-0 up against Germany especially when their presence was even enough for the German fullbacks to not push forward, De La Fuente almost gifted the game and I hope he has learnt his lesson coz it could have gone south but Hats Off to Germany they played and gave their everything just that Spain are strong this tournament and they've been playing at a high level too.
I’m fine with those subs because they don’t have great stamina, but I feel like he should’ve brought on Joselu earlier to get an actual CF in the game.
Unfortunately he wont learn shit. Believe, I am from Spain and I know hoy it works. He won, so press wont say anything about the mistakes he commited yesterday
There is nothing to make now,Flick have nothing but Vitor Roque training with him,and there is the transfermarket,in wich prolly Barça could sold players like de Jong and try to buy Nico Williams
How Spain did it? Ultimately they got lucky. Even if you discount the hand ball situation, Germany had more than enough opportunities to score the second goal, including Havertz' chip ball and Fullkrug's header that just barely missed the goal.
Im german and im fine with the result. Both teams played incredibly good, so congratulations to spain! i can only say that im happy with our teams performance, we really brought up a fight instead of just standing there and doing nothing, and last time we played spain in a friendly match it ended 6-0 for spain so there is definitely lots of improvement since then we got from nagelsmann to get a great team again.
As a Germany fan, this loss hurt, and I'm not even German 😆 Honestly, either team progressing is well-deserved, it just came down to a bit of luck and a bit of individual moments (or lack thereof). Imo, handball on goal-bound shot should have been a penalty, but can't complain too much. It's the first time there's a real spark in this team in 10 years and it'll be a while before we get to see how Germany under Nagelsmann progress, especially without Kroos and likely Muller, Gundogan, and Neuer.
They could kill in first half and in first half extra game. But they scored in last minute in second half and almost scored in last minute in last minute in second half extra game. I do believe Germany was the side with better strategy, not Spain.
If united should think of replacing Ten Haag in future Nagelsman will be the best replacement I really like his tactics of playing through the press and in the center of the pitch
I feel Germany should be getting a better score. Nagelsmann tactically to me was more sound. In General play, Germany pressed well, making Fabian Ruiz not have a strong influence on the game, it was largely an Olmo show. With the Subs, Nagelsmann again wins that. He got every sub correctly esp when they equalized, the decision to balance his team out once again was the logical thing to do. De La Fuente, could have made better tweaks to take control of the MF, he subbed of Yamal too early (in spite of the laws) and brought in Torres instead of Oyazarbal or Zubimendi making Carvajal & Rodri struggle against Musiala. Then he took off Morata & Williams to early too & the players were played out of contextual position. Lucky to have gone through. Germany 6.5 for me
Germany was better only after the 1:0 and only because Spain decided not to attack anymore and not to posses the ball anymore. I think Spain needs mental coaching. They are much better but not constant enough
@@M.A.M.966 they defended because they literally invited Germans to press on them. Just a few teams in the world can possess the ball for many seconds. And Spain is one of them. Possession can be not only used for attacks but actually to prevent or lower attacks from the opponent.
I would love to see a video from you explaining why Southgate ball doesnt work. Because its mind boggling seeing foden, bellingham, kane, walker, stones, on the same team, and seeing them play like a sunday league team lol
Spain nearly lost due to shifting to way too defense shape after scoring. when i saw subs that were coming, i knew Spain will be in big trouble. And soon it happened. I also did not see any sense in having Merino as a second striker, because while yes, he's a decent header, he did not contribute or help team, and if not for the goal, we would be talking about very poor performance. He could be used in midfield to break up passes and win tackles, but they kept Ferran there. I also do not see any sense having Joselu and Ferran, if you're not even getting balls to them. Everything relied on Olmo, who had a brilliant game. Spain had luck this time, but they aren't comfortable with defensive style of play, espiecially without having very good CBs. I hope they learned that they have to go all out with French, because the longer they keep game open the higher chances that they will fall out this time around.
Germany lacked a clinical finisher up front. Havertz does what he always does: Brilliant combination with the team but can't finish in front of goal for whatever reason. The team that will win imho is going to be the team that can deploy strikers who take chances successfully and the team generates enough strong chances. France, Netherlands and even England are all capable of this due to their quality in strikers or goal-scorers including midfield. With Southgate's tactics it does not look likely England will get to this stage, leaving France and Netherlands.
@@2winceball Same as England with respect to conservative "moneyball" approach so far. But they all have the strikers to grab a match-defining moment. For sure Spain are very good at controlling the game and creating good chances and technically enough finishers also but let's see how it pans out.
@@2winceball I'd expect France to give Spain a extreme examination to say the least, nonetheless! I'm also expect England to finally start producing some reasonable goal stats against the Swiss because it's "do or die" time in the QF's of the tournament and they need to start working effectively further up the pitch as well as controlled in defence. The talent as with France is there and it's probaby time to unleash it. Again I think the Netherlands can clock some good attack numbers against Turkey. Germany vs Spain was imho the best match so far of the tournament with both teams progressing the ball up and down and countering successfully playing good link up football between defence, midfield and attack. Short passes, long-balls, combinations, overloads, crosses from the wings and so on... all tools utilized.
@@robertoperez4118 It should not be important at all if the Player who blocked the ball with his hand did it un purpose or not. What SHOULD be important is if it helped preventing a goal or a dangerous Situation. And btw his hands were absolutely not attached to his body, there is more than one picture where you can see this
Wouldnt say so. There was a statistic some time ago, where you could argue no Pedri no party. They won almost any game with him on the pitch and lost alot more without him. This guy is just over played, because of Barcas crisis.
@@user-ir8er1bh4q I would like to ser that "statistic". Pedri is not good enough. Weak, out of form and playing for an ill managed club. His playstyle does not suit Spain's right now. He is slow, he has a weak shot... The only good thing he has is how wellnl he sees the pitch and the game, but Spain has Rodri for that, who is miles ahead of Pedri
The reason Spain won was a bit of luck, a clear penalty that wasn't given, and a moment of brilliance in the 119th. That was the game of the decade, and both deserved to win it. It's just sad that this wasn't the final. Congratulations and best wishes to the spanish team.
@@vanillathunder7957 which "clear" offside? The only thing that could before that is/was a very close offside, if it even was one, but official pictures were never shown.
Germany owned the game, great tactic by Nagelsmann, but two mistakes (119min and the denied penalty) led to tragedy...mistakes against Spain are always fatal.... but I think this talented team under Nagelsmann will strike back 2026!
Germany was better, they won xG, had more big chances and got robbed a clear penalty. Spain didn't won because they were better, but because they had more luck. But that's football, after all.
Spain showed an impressive level and played a hand to hand against Germany, pressing them each time they had the ball and fighting them to death at half camp Possesion was 49% 51% We can argue about the luck of Spain precision and Germany, we can also argue about how many balls throw each team actually on target. In terms of level and skill it was a tough game and pretty balanced, an anticipated final, so don't know what are you talking about
Spain played way better and Kroos should have been out of the game with a red card 15 minutes in, dude injured 2 players in one game, the no call at the end was Karma, and it was offside anyway
It would have been 2-2 if the unable ref would have done his job. But you can't blame the Spanish team, it's not their fault. It's the fault of a ref who didn't even want to check it, even though it would have been a goal. He prob. didn't like the Germans (which means he is corrupt) or simply too stupid for his job.
The ref allowed Kroos in the game for 125 minutes instead of sending him off long before. The handball is preceded by an offside. Germans were dumped by the Spaniards with two awesome goals. End of the story. Time to get some respect from now on…
@@hatah9305 The mystical offside, any evidence? Kroos hit the ball, get over it. And the Ref won the game for Spain. So simple if you watched the same game and rspecially the slow motions (Kroos hitting the ball). So just shut up!
Exactly. The ref hated the Germans so much he let Toni Kroos intentionally injure Pedri and didn't so much as give him a warning. He hates the Germans so much he also red carded Dani Carvajal.
@@jstos3675 and he hated Germany so much he added 3 extra minutes for at the end of the match for no reason. (The extra minutes for the goal were already added)
Im from Spain and I dont understand the rough that show Germany in the pitch. Next time ,play futbol rather than kick legs all time. And if you are man to kick , next , dont cry. And remember. 15 min extra time plus 6 extra min without any reason? Comon, dont complaint. Work harder and sportingly
I don't get why people complain, I think this was the most exciting game of the Euros so far even though the referee didn't have his best day. It would have been worth of a final. Both teams showed great possession of the ball and attacking football. The teams were absolutely on par with each other. It was great to watch. Sure Germany played physically harsher than normally but so did Spain. It is a valid standard tactic and was anticipated by everybody. Teams of the likes of Spain and Germany with their ball possession orientated style have to endure this regularly. Germany didn't go full Sergio Ramos and didn't play brutal. It was just bad luck for Pedri that he got injured when Kroos came too late to kick the ball. It wasn't a huge foul but would have been worthy of a yellow card. Kroos got lucky there. None of the teams was less sporting than the other. Carvajal confused football with wrestling against Musiala. There was much delay in the extra time, so of cause there had to be given additional minutes. I fear that the next match isn't going to be that great to watch, France played rather dull so far even though very efficient. I think with Spain vs Germany we already saw the match with the most beautiful football to watch this Euros.
Since the opening goal by spain Germany was clearly the better side. Taking Gundogan out and putting in Fullkrug and Wirtz completely changed the game. Fullkrug and Havertz had so many great chances, if they were a bit luckier it would've been something like 3-1 Germany. Additionally Anthony Taylor was being completely biased, we see multiple times a German player goes down and play goes on for 2 minutes. Then, when Laporte goes down because Wirtz "bumped his back" on a forward run, play is immediately stopped. Never let English refs adjudicate a Germany match.
Are you joking with the referee stuff? He forgave several yellow cards to Kroos during the match, one as early as minute 6, when he injured Pedri. Then, at the very end of the match, he added for no reasonn 3 minutes to the original 3 extra minutes, just in case Germany could equalise the game. In that uncalled extra extended time Carvajal had to force himself a second yellow card to stop a German counter attack.
@@georgezee5173 It is evident that whenever a German player went down it was "play on" and when they complained they got a yellow. Spain got much more lenient treatment. Yes, Kroos made some hard challenges, but they were fair. He got the ball. There were also multiple challenges on Fullkrug while he was in the box that limited his ability to shoot properly. I'm referencing a shirt pull that pulled him down forcing him to miss the shot and hit the post. You're ignoring 3 other forgiven penalties.
As a Spaniard, I'm glad that Morata is out on accumulation of yellows because he f*ing sucks. Hopefully we start with Joselu in his place against France. I'm not concerned with Le Normand being out because Nacho is back, but I AM concerned about Carvajal being out on a red because he's excellent. Unfortunately, the referee made the baffling decision to let the second half of the extra time go on for 50% longer (over 6 minutes more) when he originally said 3 (already too long). During this additional time, Carvajal had to sacrifice himself and commit a second yellow to stop a dangerous counter attack and prevent the gams from going to penties.
Exactly. They paid the ref to let Toni Kroos intentionally injure Pedri and didn't so much as give him a warning. They also paid the ref to red card Dani Carvajal.
these days football made simple dosent do analysis on many games as a fan for you guys that annoys me for instant england vs denmark .......am sure you wont analyse any other quarter final apart from portugal vs france
Exactly. They favored Spain so much they let Toni Kroos intentionally injure Pedri and didn't so much as give him a warning. They also red carded Dani Carvajal. UEFA's so corrupt.
@@jstos3675 Pedri fell in an unlucky manner after a foul in which Kroos did still play the ball. I agree he should've gotten a yellow in the first half but saying he intentionally injured him is bullsh*t. Also, Carvajal spent the entire match tackling Musiala and not even trying to go for the ball because he know he's only gonna get nutmegged, and when he blatantly did it in the last minute stopping a clear goal scoring opportunity, he knew he was going to get sent off for it and intentionally played unfairly anyways because it didn't matter anymore. He's the poor sportsman, and Spain is UEFA's favorite country. Vardrid and Barcelona have always been ridiculously favored by them because Spanish football heritage is paying the referee.
@@mildlyobesegoat7262 I know. The ref decided that Pedri was "unlucky" which is why he didn't even warn Kroos. Kroos literally flew into Pedri but yeah sure, Pedri was just "unlucky". As for Carvajal, the ref decided to give Kroos' red to him instead. You are right though. Vardrid is always favored, which explains why Kroos wasn't red carded and why the ref gave Germany an extra 5 minutes AFTER stoppage time.
What does "clinical" even mean in football? It's such a meaningless adjective. The ball goes in, they're clinical. The ball hits the post, they are not clinical.
You paid him but did not work: two forgiven consecutive clear yellow cards injuring a player for the rest of the tournament and one more after that. Kross would have been expulsed by minute 30 in all fairness.
