This was also 20 years after he served vs when Lotr came out, he may have not had enough time to deal with it back then or even had treatment options. This was also right before he had to witness the final execution by guillotine in France. He also found glorifying violence distasteful, and if it wasn't moving the story anywhere he refused to be part of it. The grima wormtongue thing was where he found their minimal understanding of what death actually is while trying to reenact it so ridiculous that he had to step in and show them how it's done.

Not Gialli but both worth watching! Black Sunday especially as it's an absolute Gothic horror masterpiece. Kill Baby Kill is right up there with it in that regard, at worst it's every bit as good and many would argue it's better than Black Sunday. So far as Gialli go Bay of Blood is damned fun, and 100% percent worth a watch for horror fans, but it Pales in comparison to Blood and Black Lace. No film hits all of the marks of great giallo across the board quite like that one, and if I had to pick just one giallo to recommend to everyone that would probably be it, one of the first and best of the genre for sure!

@Cactus Yeah, it was an anthology film he did of like three shorter length spooky tales connected into a full length feature. It doesn't rank among his best stuff but it's certainly competently executed and a worthy watch at least once. And of course, It's where John Osbourne and the lads knicked the name for the now legendary band!

I think it’s awesome and so important to shout out these films that deserve more credit. Friday completely ripped this off and were talking about almost a full decade prior. It’s pretty amazing what they did here in 1971. I also see some Texas chainsaw in some of those low moving angles and even Halloween with some of those first person shots. Really good stuff here.

I think this is the first time I'm rewatching this kill count since I first saw it. It's funny that Shudder is the sponsor, because in a few weeks, I'm going to get a year subscription of it for a friend that's way more into horror than I am. Hopefully he'll enjoy it.

As an Italian I'm so glad to see that it's not just English to Italian movie titles being botched but that's the same backwards since NOT ONE of the titles of this movie is even remotely close to the original "reazione a catena" which translates in "chain reaction"
