Hi Pamela it turned out beautiful.. thanks for sharing I recently got some pan pastels tints I’m collecting them I’m getting myself a pack each fortnight they are beautiful to use..
I love the blue added in!! 💙 It gave you something to use with the pink by the lilly!! 🪷 Those touches of glitter really pop as you move the page around while coloring!! 💖 The next page seems to be a continuation of the storyline. That is super cool and fun!👏👏
Just wanted to say, I really appreciate your videos! I have a 3rd grade mentality of coloring, lol. I took art in school, several yrs ago. Been trying your techniques, although I haven't mastered them quite yet!
It was already so pretty, then when you added the blue it just pulls it all together and so beautiful ❤. Can you do the same with oil based pastels? Does it matter whether or not that oil pastels? So new to this all so trying learn oastels for background. Thank you for all your videos. It’s been so long since I’ve had passion for something outside of a career ❤
I really LOVE how it turned out. Don't know if you noticed but the frog's crown was just shimmering in the light at the beginning of the video like it was made of the purest gold! ❤
I recently purchased some pan pastel's to create back grounds on my colored pages. I also learned you can add their colorless blender to blend the colors without changing the color too much. If you add white to the color it has a tendency to make the color look chalky. The colorless blender won't do that. You did a lovely job. Will the Pan Pastel's transfer to next page? Will you put a piece of paper in between or spray a fixative? I haven't seen the video where you colored this frog but I look for it. I purchased Botanicum because of the review you did on it. Thank you for another informative video.
I haven't sprayed it with a fixative yet, but will most likely. Although, without the fixative it's been fine for a while now. Have fun with your pan pastels!
I love your background. You DID pick great colors. I have some chalk pastels, the Mungyo set. I have to pull them out and see if there are any as light as the tint ones you used. In the past I've shaved some dust onto the paper and used a make-up cotton flat to spread the dust. The tools you used seem to give much better control. My big question: Did you need to spray the finished page with a fixative spray to keep the pastel from moving, spreading or coming off? I never am sure if I should spray something or not. Thanks for this great applicable tutorial. Big Big Thanks and many HUGS
That background is lovely! ❤ Are you going to spray it with some kind of fixative to keep the colors from rubbing off onto the next page or when you touch it? I usually make a copy of the page that I’m working on onto Neenah Cardstock. I do this because I have chronic low back pain. The image that I’m working on is on a clipboard. This allows me to do a lot of my coloring in bed. This also means that I’m more likely to touch my paper way too often so if I use pastels, I have to b super careful. I’ve used my Mungyo pastels for backgrounds. They do a wonderful job. When I’m done, I spray the finished product with Krylon Workable Fixatif. My problem is that the Fixatif changes the color of my work making it darker than it was. 😔 I never thought of using a combo of pastels as a background though. So thank you for that idea! I find that I suffer from “solid-color backgrounditis.” 😆
I love it. I generally use blue as a background. I wonder how it would look like with an orange-yellow instead of the magenta (one of my favourite color).
Hi! I’m glad you used Pan Pastels. I have several of their colors but I haven’t ever used them. You’ve inspired me to give them a whirl. Thanks for sharing… the entire page has really turned out amazing 😊. Just have a question- What fixative will you be using for the page? Thanks again!
I haven’t used a fixative on the page quite yet but probably will use one. You can use any fixative for pastels. I just picked something up at Michaels one day while I was out.
I started working on something else today for Etsy that I need to finish up first. I do have it on my list to make a new order for the Crayola 120 set.
Oh dear! This isn't helping me at all. 😅 I promised myself I will stop buying more art supplies this year. But I got to admit I've been looking at Pan Pastels for the past few days now. Maybe not knowing which set I should start with will keep me from buying. No way I'm getting the full set. 😁
I know, right? I bought the set of 20 pure Pan Pastels, so I can make tints and shades from the white and black. I also bought the colorless blender and the white pearl coarse and white pearl fine to create pearlescent effects.
