Thanks to Indian Motorcycle Of San Diego for loaning me the 2020 Indian Chieftain Limited for a few days. It rode very smoothly as you'd expect and my favorite improvement over the 2018, is that the heat management system is much better because you have the option of shutting off the rear cylinder while you're sitting still so the hot air gets pushed to the back of the bike rather than on your legs. Awesome improvement. Although it weighs more than 800 lbs ready to ride, it handles surprisingly well and because of the balance it's not a beast to get off of the kickstand in my opinion. I love the looks and there's plenty of power in the motor and torque in the tranny. The seat height is great for me because I have a 29" inseam so my feed touch the ground no problem. The Ride Command screen is 7" so it's easy to read and there's plenty to check out. It will track your trips, how long you've ridden, how long you've stopped and how many miles you've put on that trip. It does a whole lot more but a simple thing that made a difference riding in 101 degrees with a jacket on is that the windshield goes up and down automatically with the touch of a button. This made a massive difference in keeping cooler when moving over 15 mph for me. I've got a link to the specs below and thanks for watching. Please subscribe to Motorcycle Monkey Channel and share it with your friends. Also, subscribe to my buddy Ryan's channel, Full Throttle HOG. He's got a great style of filming and editing so I think you'll enjoy it. The Chieftain Limited starts at around $28,000.00 and can go up from there.

Do you agree that the heat management system is much better than the 2018?

Much better but not perfect.

I think you missed characterized what happens when you de-activate the rear cylinder, It does not change the direction of the wind or heat flow.. or is there something you know about this that we don't?

@@jordipi7652 Agreed. I'm impressed with the difference. Thanks for watching.

@@ut1004bp You're probably right. I went by what the specs and the tech gave me. I will watch the video again to see how I explained it but in all honesty, I changed what I said twice because it didn't sound right to me at the time. I'll check it out for sure. Thanks for the catch and for watching.

I went to look at them recently . Really nice . This dealer was also a metric dealer and when I saw the new 2020 Goldwing it stole my attention lol. Man you gotta check them out ! Old man's bike no more 👍

Now that you mention it. I should review a Goldwing. I'll look into that for sure and thanks for watching. They are very nice bikes.

Some people are unreasonable about heat. If you ride a liquid cooled v twin like a Kawasaki it also puts out heat . It's just how a v twin between your legs is. I have a vulcan 1600 and sitting at a red light in 90 degrees I will feel the heat. Especially if the fan kicks on. It's close to same heat I've felt during my 20 years riding Harley's . With a v twin we are closer to the engine heads than other types of engine. I notice people being really surprised by the heat they feel from the liquid cooled challenger engine . Well yes ...your sitting on top of a price of iron that the coolant temperature is 220 degrees and metal surface even higher. It's going to produce heat. The fact Indian and Harley can get their air cooled motors to run as cool as they do is quite impressive

I’ve bought the 2021 Chieftain Dark Horse this week. With the better clutch pull over the 2020 as well as the move to a traditional on / off switch. Indian listens. I will have to add the grip heaters. As I don’t like a plate over where a switch would go. Then lowers.

Hello MM! Ever ride out 94 East to Barrett Jct. ? A little past that on 94 is 188 which leads to Tecate (about 3 miles).

well i think i have the heat managed pretty good..removed the cat pipes..installed captain itch heat shield and just this summer installed the Air Flow seat net..holy crap dose that cover let the heat out and water...I almost gave up riding the thing it was so hot..even on short rides...Now i'm installing lowers for rain management...Also installed an after market tuner So i can try out different fuel management tunes on my own instead of going to the dealer every time...peace...

Is this option to shut rear cylinder off just for the limited model or all chieftain models?

Haha. Rear cylinder only drops out when sitting still. Hot af riding in 90 degree, non stuck in traffic riding. Love my Indian, but heat and management don't belong in the same sentence.
