I’d really like a recommendation for training pants or tights that are good for squatting in. I mostly train in my garage and need something for warmth. I don’t like the feeling of clothing pulling at me as I move. Is there anything flexible enough so it doesn’t feel annoying? Or do I have to stop being so damn fussy? Have the Sika lads covered this? Thanks!
Im trying to get back to dunking(5 ft 8in), right now i cant straight leg jump 32inches, i just need to get some actual basketball shoes to practice with so i dont destroy my ankles on the approach. Do you have any plyos that transfer to a jump with an approach?
You can practice jumping over a string tied between blocks, squat rack extension. Loosely tiled or left resting and this can be accurately measured and recorded.
Lol, if you're significantly piking that defeats the purpose of the straight legs. You still aren't being "honest with your data". Picking a height where you can jump with a slight knee bend and jump as high as you can is even more honest
@@sikastrength He said it a little obnoxiously, but can you explain why it's wrong? When you're standing further away "swinging" your straight legs up to the box and letting the rest of your body catch up, isn't it sort of the same thing as bending your legs? As opposed to standing closer to the box jumping straight up with completely straight legs
Technically, sure. It would be dishonest to look at this “straight legged box jump” and say “that’s my vertical jump”. The point seems to be that this is a more honest and consistent representation of your actual vertical height achieved as most people’s height-gained piking is going to be far less significant or variable than that of someone landing in a deep squat. Perfect is the enemy of good. There are multiple ways to do better, and this seems to be one of them
@NicolasLarsen94 the comment above mine here explained it perfectly well. Would it be better if we all had 20k worth of force plates in our gym? Yeah absolutely but that's not feasible. The amount of variance in this version versus the squat style is less so your getting a smaller window of error. It's not feasible to train max effort plyos every time you're jumping as suggested by the obnoxious comment
@@sikastrengthObnoxious commenter here. My central point wasn't jump max effort every plyo session - I was wrong to imply that. The point was, rather than pretending you're being strict and cheating the movement with a significant pike, why not just pick a moderately challenging height and jump with a slight knee bend. Not jumping to a deep squat is the idea. Straight legged or slight knee bend doesn't really matter. But emphasising straight legs and then piking to reach the height is funny.
