I owned a Wenger diver style back in the 90's. Gave It to my cousin after 7 ,maybe 8 years . Very reliable,beautiful watch from an underrated brand. This is the first review on a Wenger I have the pleasure to watch on RU-vid. Hope to see more. Congratulations!

Cool, for the price it looks good and will theoretically last longer than other fashion watches at the same price.

It’s basically a Swiss version of the black Timex expedition.

I have an older Wenger dive watch, and it has held up very well thru the years. This one is what I’d call cool on your chart. Great review as always!!!

"A premium Timex" - yes, I think it is fitting, and describes the features of the watch, for good and for bad. An interesting option all in all, if you are looking for a daily quartz that looks fine also in business attire. Nothing to write home about, but still cool in my opinion.

My first field watch was a Wenger and it amazed me the same brand of movement they used are found in higher priced watches £1000 plus

Wenger make some good watches I wore a 79176 daily for 6 years as a beater, still working fine after 12 years.

A seconds hand misalignment on this "swiss" watch or any other would make me nuts pretty much immediately. I just can't get it why all of sudden they've assumed it's not an issue anymore! Double the price of this watch and get Casio Lineage as an ultimate satisfaction.

Twenty years ago I owned two identical large size pocket/camping folding knives made by Wegner and Victorinox, a year before they merged with Victorinox. I still use both of them on a daily basis and they are of equal quality and durability. Which speaks well for the durability of the new Wegner watch. Thanks for the very interesting presentation, but from yesterday the Government ordered the full time closure of every Retail establishment for the next two weeks and we are totally confined to our houses, with an 8pm Curfew, that is enforced by the Army patrolling the streets. The only exception is that one person from each household is allowed to leave the house for a maximum of one hour to get food from shops within a 5km radius and you have to wear a mask all of the time. So window shopping for a Wegner is months away in Melbourne Australia. Phil.

I’ve owned 2 Wenger watches. Solid options and you can find some older models for usually a steal on the used market. The one I had that wish I had kept was the brigade 79255 model. Great vid and recommendation Ben! 😎🍻👍

Color matching the date wheel to the dial is a slick move. If Wenger can get it right for $100 USD then why TF can't Rolex get it right for $10,000?

I've added a couple of Swiss Military Hanowa watches to my collection and they too are affordable and very good quality for the price. They are "only" quartz, but with the vast majority of my collection being Casio it doesn't bother me in the slightest 👍

I have a Wenger Avenue, and the case steel finish is outstanding well made. Also, the watch is superb precise, the swiss quartz movement are really good. Nothing to complain about.

It's a good watch, considering the price. I've bought mine in a half the price and I was a little bit like "Ohhh This is ain't gonna work as good as I wish" and I'm really impressed. The hands are pretty aligned and the pins are straight!!! Great daily watch!!!

Solid field watch with a nice color-matched inset date wheel. Overall, though, not crazy about many of the features of the case and dial esthetically. Thanks for dedicating the channel to less expensive watches...not everyone can afford Rolex and above no matter how much we like them! Keep up the great work!

I have Wenger classic field watch (0441.00); white face, red second hand, and black resin band. Keeps great time, the second-hand nails the minute indices every time, and it wears well. A great little watch.

Wenger was my first Swiss-made watch. It was a 200 meter diver with a screw-in case back and protected screw-down crown, with a dark blue sunburst dial. It was actually a pretty nice watch, I probably still have it somewhere, it’s just a matter of digging it up.

I have about 5 Wengers. They are decent watches. I've never paid that much for one though. I've only had a problem with one that died but after about 7 or 8 years so I think I got my money out of it.

Wenger watches offer good value for the money, l am considering to buy some. I am impressed with your professional presentation. 👍 and l decided to subscribe your channel. This particular watch is lovely. Arabic numerals and leather NATO stripe look very solid and reliable.

I've had a look on Amazon, and I think the Roadster Black Night looks pretty good. Though, I'd probably go for a Luminox if I had to go for a £150-250 swiss watch. I'd say the wenger is cool.

The problem with Wenger is that all their watches seem to be either 34mm or 40+mm. Nothing in between, not a single one in the goldilocks zone of 38mm, which is exactly what I want. This oversized watch nonsense is getting on my nerves. 38mm was good enough for Sean Connery in the first four (or whatever) Bond movies. If all insecure "alpha males" who are perpetually terrified that someone might think them unmanly if they ever wore a watch smaller than 44mm got some therapy, then perhaps we could get back to normal watches.

Have one Wenger which I bought for 49EUR. Super underrated watch, robust, nice design and getting a lot of attention (which surprise me really a lot as I consider it as one of the unspectacular watches I own). I would put it next to Candino as my favorite Swiss entry watches.

Ice cold..relative to price and aesthetics. Another great video. Well executed, fair minded, thoughtful and perceptive. Your GF is very observant also..it is a bit like an upmarket / variation of a Timex. I really like both Wenger and Victorinox, and I have two of each. I have another in the urban series which is chocolate/coffee colours and very cool, and one which is white, black and red, a bit reminiscent of one of those Swiss train station style Mondaines, in terms of colour and simplicity. My first Victorinox was an "Officer" which is a chronograph and has beautiful finishing in terms of metal case, and I have a small modest sized Victorinox Master Diver, ( 500m) which actually has the best Lume of any traditional watch I have had. The two pocket knife brands (one company now of course) have very well made, great value watches without the pretentious price levels, but often with genuine Swiss quality. True..many are quartz, but if you want to tell the time with the thing, then quartz is the reliable and precise way to go, perhaps with mechanical/automatic versions being good for special occasions . I agree with you about the water resistance level, but whenever I have done the odd swim with a leather band still on, even the ones which look like they have a level of waterproofing, they tend to frey a bit and go downhill. I have a Hamilton GMT Jazzmaster, with two screw down crowns and 200 metres rating. Its band looks like it would be partly waterproof, but after a few swims It suffers wear and tear round the edge tips. My daily watch is a Vostok Amphibia SE, which now feels like a good friend. Anyway..keep up the great work

I have a similar Wenger with straight spring bars and it just about accommodates a thin nato strap ; those curved ones are a useful upgrade.

I just recently got a Wenger watch that my friend didn't want while helping him clean out a storage unit. It has been sitting in a non climate controlled Florida unit for at least 6 years, and while the case was kinda gross and the strap had mold on it, the case cleaned up perfectly and the crystal doesn't have a scratch on it. I picked up a nice NATO strap from Amazon and you'd never suspect that this thing wasn't brand new except for one scuff on the case. Most of the watches I've had in this range have had a brass case that surely wouldn't have survived that treatment.

I'm a Swiss army knife nerd. Wengers had their own distinct character and usually boast a feature that the larger competitor Victorinox lacked - my first Wenger had very effective serrated scissors. My second one had an ergonomic frame. This watch has neither character nor a special feature (unless you count sapphire coated mineral crystal). And above all else, if you tell people you have a swiss army watch, they will want to see what tricks it can do and this watch is as basic as it gets. I mean at the very least, a caseback stamped with instructions on how to find north would have been cool. At least Timex offers Indiglo (and I dislike Timex because their movements are garbage). I still like this watch because it's stainless steel and a good movement, which makes it way better than a Timex, but I have to adjust my expectation of the brand Wenger coming from their knives.

Cool and very nearly ice cold. I own a Wenger Escort which is quite similar in some aspects. Solid, dependable and smart but could do with a touch of "flair" to tip it into the ice cold territory. Its still a rock solid choice though and for the price its a real winner. BTW check out the Wenger Seaforce range 👍

I bought a Wenger day date for around 40 dollars new in Mexico just because it is Swiss and super cheap, now it's my favourite watch despite it's hollow links bracelet

Definitely cool! I currently own 4 Wenger watches and have no complaints. I just recently got back into watches after about a 25yr hiatus. I was looking for a decent watch with a stainless steel case, not an acrylic crystal and at least 100m of water resistance and everything I found approached $200 new. Then I rediscovered a Wenger Outback that my FIL gave me during my hiatus. After a quick service at a local jeweler I had a tank of a watch and fell in love with the brand. My last purchase came in today and was a Black Night Roadster. So I'll say again, definitely cool in my opinion! Great video! 👍🏼 ~ JJ

I've got a WENGER EDGE INDEX NO: 01.1141.113. It's a very nice watch. Well built, elegant and thrusting. A little on the big size.

I like how victorinox and wenger seem to always have 100m wr. I would look for one with sapphire however.

Please review the Timex T80 Pacman edition and compare it with the Casio A168.

I would place it on the high end of "cool", but that's because the only quartz I would personally consider for "ice cold" has to be solar. The seconds are not "misaligned", some quartz movements just do that. If it was misaligned they'd all be off, but it's sometimes right on the mark. Unless you're really dependent on sub-second level accuracy, or it's very substantially off a lot, it's probably best ignored a lot, as long as the movement as a whole is accurate over a period of a day or a month.

I have a white dialed Wenger on a white rubber strap and the spring bars are straight. Great watch though, love it.

Great watch for the money. Over the years, I have purchased 7 or 8, all still run, if I keep batteries in them all. Seiko, Tissot and Victronix are others I have had…..I do not buy premium expensive watches…..👍🏻

I find the red font on the lower part of the dial utterly unsuited for a watch dial.

For me it doesn't matter where it's made, as long as it's a good watch. I have one with a Ronda mechanism, it works perfectly for 16 years.This one is cool

My experience with that Ronda movement (and most Ronda movements in general) is tht they have lots of slack, lots of play in their gearing. You'll notice that whenever you go to set one. Getting one's second hand to sync up with the minute hand is a practice in frustration. The minute hand will jump as soon as you push in the crown, on ALL of them. And getting a quartz watch with a second hand that will hit the indicies is like hitting the lottery. The only one I own is a Marathon Navigator. I'd take an ETA quartz over a Ronda any day. [I take that back. There is a cheap Casio I got for $18 that hits every mark every time and is as accurate as al get out!l

I have a wenger 01.1541.111 that I got on amazon for $100CAD and it’s been an awesome beater.

Just ordered a Wenger watch through TK Maxx. Good price at around £50 including click and collect. Saw them in H Samuel, but they tend to be well over £100. Actually TK Maxx tend to be quite reasonable for watches. A Lambretta which was £20 there was 137 euros on Lambretta website!!!

You really should review the awesome solar-powered Centric Instruments Lightwell Field MKII. You'll love it. It's the perfect grab-n-go watch. You'll love the size and will look great on your slender wrist. Trust me on this, please.

Looking recently Nov. 30, 2021 I found a wide variety of the Roadster Racer 01.9041.221S for for 60 usd to 150 usd. Ordered one from a big chain here "Walmart" for 60 USD. Looks very nice. Waiting for it to arrive. I like the simpler looks with arabic indices so it suits me.

The date next to a dial numeral is always odd. I like having a date. A better design would’ve been a smaller diameter with the date replacing the “3” position is more symmetrical. Or removing the date altogether.

My dad gave me a wenger quartz for my high school graduation back in 2015. used it everyday back in college and i can testify it was built like a tank. PS. i learned that I'm pronouncing "wenger" wrong for 9 years lmao

I really like the look and layout of the watch dial but would like it even more without the date window.

Wenger makes a solid watch. A lot of people don't realize that since Victorinox acquired them the watches are made in the same factory. Every few years they'll release an automatic, which tend to sell out quickly. I own the 125th anniversary automatic which is every bit of quality as a Victorinox auto.

This doesn't really do anything for me. It's just a bit meh. Great review as always though Ben.

Another point I'd thought I'd mention after hearing the same in your other videos, when saying the case material, it's pronounced "three one six" stainless rather than "three sixteen" 👍

See thing is, 38mm used to be the standard size, but times have changed since the 80's, and everyone now still want larger watches as the norm which is 40mm and many watches are built at 40mm for that reason. To go large would be 42mm and upwards.

I heard about this brand 10 years ago but I've never seen a review of it.

Got a used one for about 10 bucks that needed a battery. Replaced the older leather straps with a cheap Amazon nato. Watch now looks like it's worth much more than 10 bucks. (Maybe 20? Haha)

It's not really my style, but I think it's fair to put it in the cool category: definitely a decent piece, and you could always swap out that strap for a two piece number that would slim it down a bit. Definitely better than the Fossil. If I had to choose between the Wenger or the Fossil for the last watch I'd ever wear, or the watch I'd be buried wearing, it'd be the Wenger every time. So, yeah, basically I would be seen dead in the Wenger.

I kinda want to get a nice quartz, but honestly, if it’s going to be quartz, I want more perfection... the second hand being not lined up bothered me as a child.. maybe even caused some ADD.. I have a quartz Casio edifice now, that’s kinda pricy as a work watch... BUT, I bought it because it didn’t have a hand for the seconds... that tiny fraction this second hand off is too much for me...

I think it looks great and have the material and water resistance to back it up. Very good deal in my eyes. Like you I don't really care it says swiss made as long as the quality is there. I'd definitely rate it Cool.

I don't know, Ben. It is not an uncool watch, but it is not cool enough, either. Is there anything in between. Like "it's ok". It is better than fashion watches, though. So, maybe it is cool? Yeah it is cool.

The second hand looks huge compared to the hour & minute hands. There’s to much writing on the dial. The second hand also has poor alignment , as you said. But the biggest reason for me not to buy would be , it’s a Quartz watch...a Swiss Quartz!! Why? For me , if it’s Swiss made , then , it has to be powered by a spring & not a battery. How about a review on a cheap or a few cheap Swiss automatics??👀

I'd say it's marginally cool because of the sapphire coated mineral crystal. Otherwise I don't think it's that cool, and if you're going to go quartz, there are a ton of less expensive options unless of course you absolutely have to have "Swiss Made" on the dial. I own an older but fairly similar Wenger 7930X, and it keeps good time. It definitely has straight spring bars. Functionally, it's no better or worse than my favorite Casio. It IS better than a Timex, because it's very quiet, and all of the Timex watches I've seen are loud - quite loud to the point it bothers me sometimes. (Is the watch in your review quiet? Reviewers seldom if ever seem to talk about this.) Quality wise, I think Wenger = Casio, but in this case, the sapphire coated crystal might be a bonus. Then again, at double or more the price, and because Casio offers so many options at that price point, there might be some benefits there depending on what you're looking for.

Picked up a Wenger in a discount retail store for $25 battery is dead Swiss Military Field watch.

I think it's pretty cool. I may just pick one up next time I'm at Costco.

It have a Ronda 5030D movement and I think the same movement is used in a few Ferrari and Tissot watches and I believe that could be an interesting subject for your channel.
