I enjoy your longer videos, so no apology needed for video length. Your new baby bull is adorable. I hope he does a great job and throws good traits in his breeding. Also thanks to Brent for doing some of the video, he doesn't get enough credit for helping with that. I hope you all stay safe and healthy Tay.
My uncle ran a smaller dairy farm back in the 1950's and into the mid 1970's. I always enjoyed visiting. Believe it or not, the thing I remember the most is riding the tractor while he was towing a loaded manure spreader. Keep posting the videos. They take me back to my "good ol' days!". Big city life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Ask me how I know.
The whole tone of your demeanor around your cows and Brent speaks well of your own humanity; you are very much appreciated because of your very nature!
Good Morning Taylor It’s too early in the morning for me to answer but I hope that the weather continues to cooperate with you so that o can get a good corn crop and a abundance of hay 😊
Neil is such a heel.... Lmfao 😂😂😂 Remember the more you handle them the better. But bulls are bulls. We had a red and white bull that was a huge baby. Never acted up... he was gramps longest bull. Had him 5years... then sold him to a neighbor farm. Love the videos. Enjoy your weekend.
Morning Taylor from Max & Jane in Australia we stumbled on your channel purely by chance & enjoy watching very much. My opinion on tie stall barns has been limited & I'm glad to see your cows get to spend time away from being tied all the time, dairy farming in Australia is so different to what is done else where in the world & it's good to try something different. Keep up the good work, have a great day
Like your Stones tee shirt!! That's one handsome bull calf!! Thanks for the explanation concerning how you got that calf to start eating again. Suckling stimulating the eating desire makes perfect sense. Stay safe and dry!
Good morning Taylor. Looks like the future of your herd is well planned with Neil and your new Ayrshire calf bull. Your talents as a herd manager are a great plus. Even though farmers don’t have a degree from Harvard they have the smarts and common sense to help them through all of the aspects of farming. Another great Taylor (tailor) made video. 🐄🚜🌽😉
New sub. You are a joy to watch and since I have relatives in Maine it's close to my heart. Don't worry about the length of the vids. We like 'em. I also love that you appreciate the older equipment for it's design and capability. Nothin' wrong with new tech (as long as it ain't junk) but we can't forget about the tried and true stuff
An easy way to take your tractor out of four wheel drive is to use your bucket to lift your front wheels of the ground. Then shift out of 4 wheel drive.
Thank you so very much Taylor and Brent for taking us along on your daily journey and activities on the farm. You are definitely deserving of all the praise that you have for your lovely ladies. They are really so lucky to have two lovely and fantastic caring people looking out and after them. Love the videos folks please keep them coming. Kind regards pat Brazil Ireland 🇮🇪 😀.
I have successfully used the RESCUE brand, "OUTDOOR FLY TRAP". I think it traps and gets rid of the flies better than the old sticky strips. I got mine at HD.
Great explanation. I did not know about the suckling action of the calf as being therapeutic for the calf. Sounds like you have some evidence you are correct. The way you explained it makes sense: Having to work at it a bit trains the calf to eat, etc. Way to go Taylor! Keep at it!
Hi Tay, another lovely video. Never gets boring. Always interesting. From land to machine to dairy and the livestock. The two of you work as a true team. Thanks again MARK uk
Thanks for posting I have been checking every day. Hope you guys are doing well. Farmers have some of the neatest toys. I love the hay unrolling machine . It’s unreal how much money that had to be spent on concrete . Thank again for sharing your and Brent life with us as farmers I really enjoy it.
Hi Taylor thanks for sharing another awesome video. The cow's certainly know when you're going round with a bail they stand there watching 👀 for it coming to them. You got to love Neil standing there watching you, have you got a bottle for me Taylor?.Just might be a godsend that you had the rain 🌧 it will give the corn 🌽 a good start. What a fantastic team you two make great to watch. Thanks again for sharing take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
Hi Taylor and Brent beautiful video tay no worries you make videos long and talk all you want cause it’s educational how we all get our milk and as always you both be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The farms I worked at in the 80s 90s and early 2000s we had a wic feed cart with a honda motor to feed most of the main part an what a blessing. But if it went down we had to feed by pull carts by hand 😅 lots of work. Happy farming ❤
Hi Taylor, yes flies are very "friendly" this summer, just awful! Good luck with the new guy, sounds like he's got some interesting pedigree. Wish your fortune come true❣
Great video, glad there are still some "small" farms left in Maine. Have you ever considered "predator wasps" to help with the flies? They are a tine wasp that lays their eggs in fly larvae, so the flies never hatch
Hope you have a backup plan! Born and raised on a dairy when I graduated school my parents made me learn a trade as of a backup even though I planned on farming just in case the farm failed!(got my cdl) Parents retired when I was 30(32 now) i bought the farm, sold dairy cows last year as it was holding us back. All beef cows and crops now. One day your gonna wake up and be tired of working 7 days a week, especially for someone else! Sorry I know you probably don't wanna hear this!
Friendly advice. Don't rub your bull calf on the head. It encourages him to butt at you. And I noticed Neil has horns. I'd be dehorning him pretty soon. You have some good stock. A purebred Ayrshire should be a big boost not only in genetics but cream and butterfat. 🙂
Hi Taylor, thank you for another great video, I glad I’m not the only one who is getting bitten by the nasty flys it seems to early for them to be this nasty, we also are having a lot of little breakdowns and a couple of bigger ones to but just have to keep going
Observation is a great way to learn, fyi, the sucking adds more saliva which aids digestion and the head placement helps direct the milk to the right part of the stomach. Calves feed on a teat have less digestive issues and you get more gain from the milk feed, but you have worked this out for yourself.
😁another great day on the farm. FLY ZAPPERS IN THE PARLOR ? We made squeegees from old tires for the loader. The new addition is a hansom fellow. thanks
Great video! Your videos are never too long😉. About the stack of tires over by the pad you were cleaning. What are they used for? Arbitrary question, but inquiring minds (mine at least) want to know. 😃 stay well and safe Taylor and I hope your weekend goes smoothly for you guys.
Thank you! Glad to hear it ☺️. We used those for holding down the plastic film that covers our corn silage. It can be a dirty job throwing old tires on to a corn pile but I actually always enjoy it 😄
Good afternoon sweetheart another great video. I’m glad you got the bale roller going. You guys can have some of our rain if you want it lol have a good day.🤗
What a great video. That is a beautiful Bull calf. Did you ever get the throttle cable for the Kubota? There is always something to do on a farm. Like you said, when one thing breaks a dozen or more things break. Have a great day and God Bless
Hey Taylor I’m new to your channel, I really do love the content. I’m a subscriber to Molly Bell’s channel “Bell Farms“ I’m gonna make a suggestion to everybody over there to come and check you out. In fact, I think her husband Shane messaged you about getting you some corn seed when you guys were in the market for some. I think it would be an awesome idea for you and Molly to do a collaboration video. It would probably help out both of your channels. I don’t know how close they are to you but they are in Maine as well.
Without your pad being grooved is it slick when it is wet? Also the new bull calf looks great. I was worried about Neil with your tag line for the video
You folks in Maine speak a slightly different language than the rest of the country. Cattle that you call Azures are known as Ayrshires ( air--shires ) in most of the USA.
