Hey Sam. At about 14:21 there's a distribution button. Try using the array. Align the last item and then horizontally distribute them. Nice work!

great video. Helpful tip. If you cut relief on the bottom base where the erasers are, the pencils will sit flatter.

This is cool but I have taken it one step further. I make the pencils themselves. It took a little while to figure out how to make them, but i've got it down now!

Maybe add in a couple alignment cut outs to the top and left side of each piece,the same width as your plywood. Then you could use the cutouts during glue up to key the two pieces together. This way you are certain you have the two pieces aligned.

Sam - great video tutorial, however having issues with your file getting F1 w/extension table using XCS to register correct dimensions when framing and cutting - I’ve calibrated, focused and installed/reinstalled the extension but no luck getting the F1 to cut 1/8” Baltic birch accurately (360 x 110mm) according to your template file. Suggestions???

My wife is a teacher. She keeps a mini bucket on her desk that she keeps pencils in for those students who forget their pencils. They are supposed to return them at the end of class, but she would have them disappear. I thought it would be funny one year to engrave a bunch of pencils for her with "I stole this pencil from Sra. Haynes." It had the opposite effect, it got to where students that weren't even in her class were getting her pencils. It was a game and the more pencils you had from her desk, the more clout you had. UGHH!

Hi Sam, thanks for the video. You explained everything very clear and accurate. This is a very useful template. Just wish I had a laser to use it with. Each of your videos always seem to give me another reason to purchase a laser. Just have to settle on one but they are changing so fast. Looking forward to the next video👍

Don't really need your template (I have a Snapmaker, so need to do my own), but thanks for the fantastic inspiration of engraving pencils. I legit never even thought about it, but it makes perfect sense. It's funny -- like a week before the video you did for your coaster template, I created a jig to engrave some 4-inch circular coasters that I'd gotten. Great minds think alike (well, great mind... and me).

question F1 or M1 I want it mainly to cut and engrave wood and secondary engrave metal (for metal the F1 is clear). But the main thing is which is the best laser for wood?

I would say the P2 for wood... going by xTool's current machines. There's a rumor of another wood cutting machine coming out soon that may be in a goldilock's range.

Correct. This is only compatible with the F1 and Slide Extension table. I don't have an M1 machine, so don't have any templates I feel confident to sell for them.

Hello, i purchased the ultimate xtool F1 template kit, and when I tried to cut the first part of the pencil file, my F1 started, and then it stopped because of the fla😂me .What do I need to do to keep this from happening.

If you want to make something special for left handed people you could have an option to rotate the design 180 degrees so that when holding it in your left hand the text isn't upside down. That always bugged me as a left handed kid.

Another option would be to print the opposite way on front and back and say left-hand-friendly/compatible. Of course that requires spinning them over and layering again.

Teachers by their very natures are more communicative than cosmetologists at an open bar. Target - errr Select a few in your chosen district/grade and gift them a 25 or so, and throw in something else you like to make, cups etc. You will absolutely get smashed with requests from their peers.
