Btw, definitely appreciate the non-perfect canvases. As someone who has been cutting hair as a hobby, I've been noticing how rare those perfect hair and head shapes are. You and fonzz are good at talking about the struggles that you go through with every head, which shows that it ain't all supposed to be easy no matter how good you are.

I appreciate that you are using models that are difficult to fade, when people always show the perfect model for their tutorial videos it creates unrealistic self expectations for the barbers wanting to learn the details and what to do when something difficult pops up, which creates self doubt and makes us feel like we can’t get the perfect fade on every client, which is true but we wanna at least be able to also make our difficult head shaped clients wanting more complex cuts to look good and be happy too, and showing us on all types of canvases helps so much, I really truly appreciate this! Thank you Bossio, you’re a life saver 👏🏻

This is probably the best video you've made technical wise. RU-vid is full of videos with blurry cuts but to find a video that teaches you technique to deal all the complex things on a man's head that will make it a tough cut? Good luck! I've been doing self cuts since I was in high school and I'm 36. The only reason I did sell cuts was because the barber always f***** up my hair! Really my hair texture thickness indents and growth patterns probably made it tough just to get a good cut. Luckily I figured out how to get it done. This video speaks to me my man!

Another advice here, super easy. When someone has that dip in the back, beginning your "guideline" in the back has worked best for me. I don't have clients that like a curve on the sides going back. Beginning in the back will stop ✋ you from fading too high on the sides. 🤷‍♀️

I think a lot of people don't realize heads are not perfect and what they want vs what they have as far as a scalp and hair density isn't going to look like Instagram

yeah bro I agree, one of the ways to learn how to cut is by having some people with difficult hair . And to challenge yourself. I’m a beginner I work at a nursing home with mentally challenge individuals. I’ve learned and still learning how to cut white black Mexican straight and curly hair all types of hair. The only thing I haven’t had time to learn was scissors cuts, because I’m a housekeeper so I’ll do maybe three heads a day. I cut their hair for free,, against job policy to charge, right now the experience is more then money,, I’m bless to have this job, and furthering my skill level right now PRICELESS , on the street yeah I charge. But it does feel good to give someone a cut who haven’t had one in years. In life you have to give something back to Mother Earth, Chi-town hollla bro-man.

big fan of your work but i think this was such a hard cut for you is bc the miscommunication you had during the consultation. He said “mid to low skin fade with a long blend” and he emphasized after that “a little more dropped in the back”. I feel the best way to go with this cut is starting the bald line in the back very low so the indent would be like a #2-3 covering the indents. Still a great cut tho!

nailing 100 on a rough canvas can lead to a lifer client. i like facing a good challange because if i see that challange again i can fall back on the hindsight to make it super tight and give someone a haircut they didnt think they could pull off.
