@@codygarner7495 I think he’s joking that some manufacturers might intentionally make their cars hard to repair so their customers are more likely to toss the old car and buy the newer ones. My dad bought his 92 Toyota Camry brand new and today, 32 years later, he's still driving it! He's no longer required to pay to register it every year or to get it inspected anymore. Idk why, but its been that way since the car was 25 years old. It still runs great and is in fantastic condition. My dad has only owned 4 cars in his entire life, he keeps them for years. He's 90 years old now.

My late grandfather bought his 1990 Camry brand new and kept it all thirty years. He only ever trusted his sons to fix the car when it needed repairs and I even worked on it a few times when I was growing up. It was involved in an accident in 2015 when someone slammed into the front-driver side, speeding past a red light and not paying attention to my grandfather making a right turn out of a gas station. Got it fixed up, insurance came through, and was sold when my grandfather passed away in 2021. It wasn't a beast, but it held its own all those years.

All of my siblings and I learned how to drive on it, I took a lot of hot dates out in it, and it was passed from one starting out married sibling to the next. You go ahead and get yourself one of these cars, just don’t get into any accidents with modern cars. Even if you’re willing to put up with the lack of all the modern conveniences that 99% off buyers demand, you’re still driving a tin can. If this vehicle were to get in a collision with a modern car even at moderate speeds, you’ll be extremely lucky to survive let alone walk away. There’s a reason modern vehicles are the way they are and sorry it’s not the government or even the manufacturers fault. It’s the public’s fault for making the demands they’ve made about safety, efficiency, technology, and so on that have turned the modern car into what it is.

Late 80's early 90's was the peak. Cars were good looking, reliable, and affordable and could be maintained. Products generally were significantly superior in quality and durability.
@ryanb8736
@ryanb8736 Месяц назад
Quality? No they were not. I fixed them for a living. They rotted out fast. Things rattled. Head gaskets popped. Radiators exploded. Oxygen corroded wiring that mice loved to eat. Frames rotting out in five years. Please don’t tell me. I made millions owning a shop fixing cars. Cars these days are built better and last longer. 100 times better quality now.

@ryanb8736 Working at multiple dealers and shops I can confirm cars were better then. At least you can find the engine in a 90s by popping the hood, new ones you've gotta remove 20lbs of plastic 1st then you don't have room to work and it's all electronic. 80s/90s alllll day😎
@ryanb8736
@ryanb8736 Месяц назад
@@DaddyxDagoth I was an actual mechanic and owned three shops since late 80’s. Cars were crap back then. Cars are easier to diagnose now with proper tools. Parts also last a lot longer now. They are not hard to work on. You just need to be educated on how to work on them. It’s not hard. Corrosion was a huge factor back then. Electronics were not sealed. Suspensions were a mess. Transmissions were awful. Head gaskets were weak. I can see how you are intimidated by new cars. You need knowledge.

The best cars were made in the early 00's in my opinion. Reliable, safe, not overly complex, still easy to work on, clean running but not over engineered with ridiculous and unnecessary epa mandated parts like cars are now. No stupid stuff like big video display screens on the dash or push button transmission shifters. The 00's were the best mix of advanced technology and old school reliability.
