crazy how ahead of his time Laimbeer was, a C shooting 3's

The whole Pistons game in that era was ahead of it's time. They pass a lot and shoot (mid-range & 3s) a lot. They lay the foundation where 2000s Suns and 2014s Warriors can run.

Detroit never lost that DNA. They won the title again with a 3 point shooting big man (Rasheed) and a dominant rebounding defender (Big Ben)

Rasheed Wallace was a combination of Rodman and Lambeer, Ben Wallace was a combination of Mahorn and Lambeer, Billups and Rip were like Thomas and Dumars both undersized shooters who could drive and defend and then you had Tayshawn Prince who was as versatile and lethal as Dantley or Aguire.
@aricohen283
@aricohen283 2 года назад
@@fighterck6241 Tayshaun was never as offensively gifted as either one of them, but then again, he really didn’t need to be, and whatever he lacked on the offensive end he more than made up for on defense

Everyone knows that the Pistons should've won 3 in a row. I'm also sick of hearing about how the Pistons didn't shake Jordan's hand. Screw Jordan and shaking his damn hand! Unless you bring up Bird not shaking Isiah's hand, do not bring THAT up.

Jordan called the Pistons “undeserving champions” and said that they were bad for basketball before Game 4 started. They were justified in walking off the court.

As a kid growing up in Michigan, this will always be my Detroit Pistons. Also Laimbeer might have been my favorite player. Fun bonus fact: As a kid, I owned a copy of Bill Laimbeer’s Combat Basketball. Not a great game, but I do miss that era of just over the top sports games at times.

Great video…. I finally understood a different point of view of why Isiah walked out. It was basically boycotting the Jordan rules which denied the Pistons playing Jordan a proven formula for slowing him down. I personally don’t agree with poor sportsmanship but to each his own I can now see the frustration of the pistons who crafted their playing style as gritty blue collar get to work types not allowed to play their style.

Until now, had no idea Daly was the head coach of the '92 Olympic Dream Team. Ouch. I think if I were Thomas, my biggest grudge would be against my coach, not MJ.
@SongofIceandTea
@SongofIceandTea 2 года назад
the coach has one job that day, to build the dream team, as that was the first time the NBA players are allowed to play in the Olympics for the USA, and it wouldn't be a dream team if they didn't put the greatest players in the franchise history.

Well done with the video. My opinion is a bit biased as I grew up in a suburb of Detroit during that time (and this team was and still is so loved by Detroit fans) but this team does not get nearly the credit it deserves. They took out three(or four) of the greatest players in history in Jordan, Bird, Magic and Kareem en route to their titles. The Bad Boys were the epitome of the word team.

Detroit (without the 4th quarter) melt down or rather mistakes, bad calls from Ref’s, phantom call, to fast and eager to throw the ball in only to get it stolen, Detroit SHOULD have won 4 championships in a roll. Oh, how great would that have been ???

There is video of Zeek saying "good game" to Jordan before the walk off. Seems like an important detail to miss. The Celtics and other teams had done it before. Pistons were just the last team to do it, since Coca-Cola-Disney-Nike-Jordan took over the league. Kind regards for the video, tho!

This bunch of Detroit Pistons bought into the program Chuck Daily brought to the team. They exploited the then current rules, only losing their competitive advantage when the NBA simultaneously changed a hard foul into a two point and possession penalty and took a blind eye to players that traveled when driving to the basket. Those two changes and age related injuries to Thomas and Lambier took the Piston away from being in the top tier of NBA teams.

no disrespect to the 80's pistons in 88 they would've lost 4-1 to the lakers had the elite years not FINALLY ended for legend kareem abdul-jabbar the passing from legend magic johnson didn't equal the scoring from kareem abdul-jabbar so the 80 82 and 87 finals mvp should've been kareem abdul-jabbar

Dunno if a fully healthy pistons could have beaten a fully healthy Lakers team but still have tons of respect for the bad boys even as a lakers fan.
@Rodanguirus
@Rodanguirus 2 года назад
I mean, a fully healthy Pistons team took a 3-2 lead over the fully healthy Lakers, and with Isiah on a sprained ankle, they lost Games 6 and 7 by 1 and 3 points. Sure, having their best player and one of the top 5 PGs of all time fully healthy may not GUARANTEE a different outcome, but it sounds almost more controversial to suggest that it wouldn't.
