When Jeremy Lin was told his NBA career was almost over he produced the game of his life. For 26 games during 2011/12, the New York Knicks Point Guard was the most talked about sports star in the world.
But his moment at the top of the game didn’t last long. This is the story about a player that had to graft to get his moment, how he seized the moment, and what happened to him afterwards.

The fact that he was overlooked despite his high school and college achievements is so regrettable. If he was given the attention he deserved with his resume, Linsanity may not have been a flash in the pan. But I’m still happy that Linsanity happened, it sure was electric, and great for the representation of AAPI

I’ll never forget Linsanity. Everyone wanted to watch what Jeremy Lin could do during that run. Everything was insane. People now would downplay it but I know everyone was in a “let us enjoy this” mood when people were analyzing linsanity.

people don't understand how crazy linsanity was. growing up, every kid, even the ones who didn't play basketball, knew two players: kobe and Lin. especially for asian kids Jeremy lin was an inspiration

I remembered living and working in Beijing, China when this occurred. Lin was the talk of the town with ballers, including the expats I balled with who played professionally for the two Beijing teams. It dawned on me that Linsanity truly won people over when I saw on TV "Wall Street Bros", regular people, intl people, and most importantly the fans of other teams rooting for the guy. He was, is, and will be the "Rudy" of NY and Asian people.

Raptors fan chiming in: I was living in the UAE when Linsanity took hold. My colleague, a Knicks fan who was able to stream games from there, told me about him after his second game. My friends were in the stands when he hit that game winner vs my team... and it was crazy to hear the Air Canada Centre crowd go nuts after a loss. Watching the game with my colleague at some ungodly hour, we both also cheered wildly. While not a pivotal part of the 2019 championship, he was a smart last minute addition. There were a few plays he ran with Gasol near the end of the season that justified the signing -- proving how his experiences with hardship could actually be useful in the challenges of a long playoff run. Short glimpses of brilliance, and a crowd that backed him even when he was playing for the other team. Best part -- he has a freakin' Economics degree from Harvard that he can fall back on.

The only thing I think is missing is a more honest sentence or two about his time in CHA & w the Nets. When not injured, we was a serviceable combo guard who still operated well out of the PNR. And he waved kobe off successfully and put kobe in his place!

Lin was nearly 6th man award winner at Charlotte, which led to him being the number one option at Brooklyn. Career cut short by injury, and to be honest, racial bias. On a potential comeback tour with Warriors G-League team, Lin was the only top 11 scorer not to receive an NBA contract, likely due to the reported racism he received on court from an unnamed G-League player. Front offices of NBA teams perceived Lin's statement as potentially disruptive to team culture, and was therefore left behind.

the NBA did Jeremy wrong imo same did college teams no one really respected Jeremy Lin and his game, him being a hard worker. IMO he should get a sendoff, a one last contract without trades and around guarrentied 18-25 minutes on a 2+1 year option contract as an apology from the league

When it all came to an end for Lin, it wasn’t a shocker for me because for me and my squad, we already knew that day was coming but we didn’t know which exact date but we knew it because it happened to Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee’s son Brandon Lee and any other Ninja that was on his way to the top of the mountain? I don’t mean the top of the mountain that’s above the rest of the world, I just mean alongside the others who made it to the top of the mountain because I know that Lin is not greater than the real GOATS of the sport that Lin plays and I know that even if they let Lin continued to play then he would’ve done great but I still know his numbers and records still won’t be up there with the real GOATS but it doesn’t matter because the people that controls who’s next would’ve never ever given Lin that chance to work on getting there? How does one player goes from Harvard, bench player, sub player, to starter player signing multimillion dollar contract to now Lin can’t even step on foot onto any NBA Officially Owned court and or any organization that’s owned or run by NBA? But in the meantime, there’s numerous teams who has bench players on their payroll right now currently that ain’t even worth the dollar amount that it costs for the prices they pay to feed those bench players the Gatorade drink that those bench players drink while keeping the bench warm for the teams real starters but outside those billion dollar stadiums, there’s a player by the name of Lin, who has real NBA experienced playtime against current NBA stars and other players, who’s not only a great well rounded player who can put up numbers, contribute any type of help for any NBA team in achieving a win or more and is also a Harvard graduate so he’s no dummy, is literally outside of the stadiums asking, calling and begging players, coaches, managers, VP’s, NBA Commissioner and team owners for a chance to play but gets zero chances, answers and not even a lie of hope for Lin to hang onto, that’s sad and very confusing but some might call it “blackballed” or whatever but for the people that know what’s going on, they know what’s up?
