True, but its always nice to see how the actual story played out, and they're giving this amazing universe on-screen life again. I'll take anything they have.

@@iona2225 Due to their civilization levels (approx early iron age) and population size - likely yes. Anyway, skeksis even with garthim are to few to kill off the entire race in few decades. My bet is on some sifan, or maybe dousan stragglers - everyone else are wiped out for sure.

@@vladcrow4225 I'm a new convert to the dark crystal mythos (gave the show a watch and got SUPER into it, such a refreshing show, watched the 1980s dark crystal movie for the first time just yesterday!) so forgive any ignorance and newbishness on my part but it does seem to me really unlikely as well that every gelfling got wiped out. In this vid it is said gelflings colonized far and wide, even with the crystal bats and those beetle soldier thingies, I just can't see how they could have hunted down EVERY gelfling save 2 on the whole of Thra. Considering how kira survived (being hidden in a tree), there's room for other stragglers, besides the sifan or dousan, the grottan who live underground should be especially hard for the skeksis to completely eradicate. I'm willing to believe the vaprans and stonewood clans are 100% gone since they were closest to the skeksis center of power but all the other clans have decent survival odds. Also the mystics didn't know about Kira, so they clearly ain't omniscient and even the narrator of the 1980s film says ONE gelfling survived but we then have 2, so that isn't 100% accurate information either. Overall I just don't see the proof the gelfling have been completely wiped out, the only sources saying that (to my knowledge) were proven to be wrong.

There would have been other communities of survivors hidden far from the Castle. That, or they set up a foreign exchange program with the titular characters from Elfquest.

This would be great. On a side note... I'm going to the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance exhibition at the Museum of The Moving Picture this December with family and I noticed already that some people who had been there were finding information not provided elsewhere. For example, the little fuzzball with a beak inside SkekTek's lab has a name! ^_^ And the exhibition DOES have the Gruenaks on display, so maybe there will be something more to learn. If there is, I will find a way to let people know! :)

Good request. I'm 90% sure that whatever Gruenaks were left in AoR were rounded up and butchered up to combine with the bodies of captured arathim... until they were wiped out leaving a select number of Garthim soldiers. I assumed whatever Arathim were left behind were overpowered and killed off by the much stronger and bigger Garthim.

They could just be survivors of their clan! Strong chance rian is Jenson father yes but rian may have just gon on to have a child with another stone wood/ the other dark haired clan.

Yea its kinda depressing to know that the series won't actually end well and most of the gelflings will probanly die off, onscreen or offscreen between the series and film.

I think SkekTek will use other creatures to build the garthim. The one you see in the series also has blue eyes, while in the movie they have purple eyes.

Eran vanRijn yeah, I was wondering how they were going to make more if the Gruenaks were nearly extinct in the movie. I assumed that there were secretly more of them and that the eyes were purple because of the darkening.

1. The Gelfling kill in self-defence but are too gentle to kill another being in this way. 2. The Ur-Ru may be 'good' but they also passively want to reunite with the Skeksis, so they will not harm themselves if it jeopardises the UrSkeks' reunification.

From my understanding, a lot of time has passed since the events of the movie. Also, there are a few theories about more Gelfling having survived the wars.

@@DreamfastwithMe you need at least 200 people to create a viable genetic pool to have no side issues later on. and even with those 200 you have to enact a breeding program to get the most varied you can. with 500 you can have normal relationships with no "forced" mating couples. with 5,000 you don't need a breeding program at all. it's hard to judge how many of them there are in the netflix show you see them pretty populated and it's implied there are a good number of them spread out. in the comics it appears they have clustered together to more or less rebuild the clans to a point which would help allot with a light handed breeding program of the likes that were common among humans in times of old where a man/woman was encouraged to find a mate outside of there village

@@jamesfranxx6151 somehow I don't think the usual rules of genetics/incest work on Thra. I mean the Urskeks couldn't reproduce, and Aughra produced a son without a mate.
