What do the different political parties stand for? What are the major, minor, and micro parties promising this election? Well here is a few dot points for EVERY SINGLE FEDERALLY REGISTERED POLITICAL PARTY IN AUSTRALIA! Some are very straight forward and some have vast and complex policy platforms that I could only fit a fraction of in this episode.
This is a summary of a few key issues - without any commentary on whether those policies are good, bad, or even practical. It's entirely up to you, the voter, to be informed and express your opinion as you see fit at the ballot. Also, just because I mention an idea or policy for a group of parties doesn't mean other parties don't also agree with it - a lot needs to be removed for the sake of time.
If you think I've missed a party: no I haven't. You're thinking of a state registered party, one that doesn't exist anymore, or one that changed its name. I assure you, I was thorough! I even briefly explain Teal Independents, even though they're not a political party.

Cool cool, can you do the same kind of video but with all the parties that don't exist anymore? Like the Australian Communist party that was dissolved in 1991.
@guillermo.mserrano
@guillermo.mserrano 2 года назад
I'm not Australian, but the Victorian Socialists sound to me like by far the best party around there together with the Socialist Alliance. The 90% tax shouldn't be seen as radical because in anti-communist 1950s USA the highest Federal Individual Income Tax Rate was also around 90% (I don't know what marginal means, though). And yes, the Sales Tax or however it's called in English is classist and even some liberal (economically right, such as the Spanish government in 1911) governments have abolished it for being so backwards. Free quality public services, democratic control of companies by workers, etc. It just makes sense. The Greens are the best major party and I'm quite happy with their policy objectives, but approaching climate change without also fully addressing the root issue, capitalism, isn't enough. Their social democratic and green reforms are very good, but the Socialists' ones are more thorough and intersectional. Also, addressing the climate crisis from an economically centrist of centre-leftist standpoint will just produce very poor and insufficient results.

Thanks for adding chapters to the video, super handy! Edit to add: it's not your responsibility to do it, but the UAP's promise of capping home loan interest rates really needs a disclaimer. It's not currently possible for the government to regulate interest rates, because this is the RBA's responsibility. To do this would require a huge change in the law and what the RBA is and does, and would increase the wealth gap in Australia by either driving up inflation or stopping banks from giving out mortgages altogether.

Actually inflation has greatly increased under an RBA. The idea of personal income tax, rather than tariffs also belongs to the idea of a centralised bank controlling monetary policy. Also, what is the point of an RBA, when they set the cash-rate, only for banks to be 50 times higher than the RBA rate (see all banks offering 4.99% fixed home loans when the RBA was at 0.1%)

Yeah and given how China threw Pakistan and Sri Lanka under the bus when they begged China to help them out of their serious economic woes... well... after they spent so long kissing up to China it goes to show there's not much point appeasing them. Dealing with evil monsters like the Chinese government will ALWAYS be feeding the crocodile and hoping it eats you last. And given China's dangerous interaction with one of our military vessels and even plans to build a military base within striking distance of the east coast well... any genuine thoughts of keeping them at bay forever by appeasement are just wishful thinking.

Just something to note if you're looking into the Australian citizens party. They're affiliated with the Larouche movement and have been accused of being anti-Semitic (which makes their focus on the banks a bit concerning), racist and anti-lgbtq. My local australian citizens party candidate has One Nation preferenced 2nd on their how to vote card, so y'know, buyer beware.

I just hope the gst can be scrapped, it’s shit that just increases taxes by 10% for everyone. I hope Australia gets to reach 250 million people though.
@dingodazz3724

@@1mol831 You do understand that the GST replaced the messy Wholesale Sales Tax system, more commonly known just as "Sale Tax" at the time (which was around the 22% in the mid to late nineties) and many other state taxes? So if GST is "scrapped" the government would just bring all those taxes back.... and it would no doubt cost us more ('cause the government don't ever lower taxes or charges when they make changes). So it wasn't just a straight 10% on top of everything that existed - although that didn't stop businesses for taking advantage of the situation and upping the their profit margins amongst the price changes as most consumers had no idea what Wholesale Sales Tax was really. I would just be happy if they don't increase it!!!!

Coming from someone from the UK i found this video very interesting. In the UK Labour is a major just like in Australia with the Greens being a major minor party. Yet the Liberal Democrats are a major party with the Liberals being one of the minor ones. While there are similarities between political parties in both countries you also have those who are on the opposite side of the party scale. Though here in the UK both the Liberal Democrats and Greens are part of the PC culture that a lot of us hate. We also have a load of parties even a few that were formed in the last couple years or so. Thanks for the upload. Hardcore Lime had a few videos up but took them down for some reason. We also have some regional parties as well as a number of local ones.
@Dan-to9hl

I think Labor has some similarities, but lib dem and liberal here don't really match their namesake counterparts in the UK. Liberal national coalition is more like the conservative party in the UK.
