This young focuses on the positives and beauty of Jamaica; she refuses to get distracted by the negatives. I love her energy and her love for Jamaica 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I enjoyed the interview tremendously. Irijah is my daughter, she is great inspiration to me. For the past 2 years I have been visiting Negril, I really enjoy my time there. New Year's Eve on the beach was an Amazing experience. Looking forward to returning back to JA soon. Keep up the good work Throp, I enjoy all of your interviews.
I believe that Jamaica will flourish and improve as more second generation Jamaicans born aboard moved into Jamaica. It would be also good to see both African and Caucasians Jamaicans helping to bring growth to the country.
Great interview again Throp! Excellent story and great energy Irijah...Wishing you great success! Hmmm.. destiny that she was placed in your path...right across from Travellers Beach.Fabulous..those of us with Jamaican parents that introduced or immersed us in Jamaican culture throughout our childhoods have created generations of children with a true love of Jamaica...totally awesome. There is truly so much we can do, if all the brain drain returns to build our country and enjoy it 🇯🇲
Great interview, but on the topic of safety you mentioned being in Barcelona your experience there. My Sister and her daughter visited Spain and they were robbed outside the hotel they were staying, and couldn't get help from the hotel staff. Their's good and bad everywhere. Jamaica land we love 🇯🇲
You have my attention when you mention freedom. I have been here since 2020.never planned to stay.but the freedom I felt i never want to leave.this is home. and loving it
Your Jamaican roots are so deep that Jamaicans cannot say no to you welcome home to your beautiful island Jamaica enjoy every bit of it for the rest of your life.
I am so glad that this beautiful woman listened to her inner voice, her intuition. Look how God lined up all the steps for her to make the change happen, her mind and heart was open. Blessings to you .
This interview was eye opening she dropped many gems Very informative and inspiring for young ppl and young Adults to get directions in their occupations and strategy for decisions makings. Spiritual awakened Young Queen. 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏽💯
This a great interview. This lady had ideas of businesses that would do well in Negril. She certainly is inspiring. I would love to visit that area of Jamaica one day.
Another good interview Throp. This young lady oozes charisma, I agree with her that the infrastructure needs further development. Jamaicans need to step up and take charge of the land, widen their imagination.
Throp your show is going places it was needed to Break the stereotype Stop people having fear well Done Up and Up Big Man You're one of the greatest. 💯💚💛♥️🏴🇨🇦🇪🇺🇬🇧🇺🇲🇯🇲🔥
I miss Irijah as well however Jamaica is the place for her. I am quite sure that your grandparents are happy that she has returned home. Her ancestors are protecting her. Hope to see you and your family when the weather gets nice!!!
@Throp You are most welcome. I endorse anyone who is willing to invest in our country whether it's capital or time. Thanks for highlighting the positive side of our country and also where we can do better.
Complements to you both on what makes JA so unique, and the clarity of how to inspire and transcend the narrative. I just happened to come across this interview, and it reminded me of how l felt about Negril when l was younger. Many times day and nights of freedom along the west end, and other parishes of JA without fear. It is wonderful to hear the same or a should l say newer elevation of Jamaican culture. Respect to you both for igniting those feelings all over again!!
Thank you for another inspiring interview Throp. I so look forward to these interviews, since it is my plan to move back to Jamaica even if it's on a part-time basis. Awesome job👍🏾💯
Wow Throp, another Epic interview..Irie has the right ideas & she will attain her goals..I like how she didn't listen to the Negativity and saw beyond that. I wish her all the very best as a JA resident..She's blessed..Continue Enlightening us Throp with your fascinating vlogs, we appreciate them.. Bless up 🙏🏾👏🏾🆙️🆙️❤🇯🇲🇬🇧
Irie your story is very inspiring. Will definitely join one of your yoga retreat/ classes whenever I’m in Negril. Another brilliant podcast Thorp!!👏🏽👏🏽
I ran across this interview just browsing on RU-vid...very interesting and inspiring...I love the energy this young lady has and her love for Jamaica...she made a way and a good life for herself with her drive and determination...well done irijah!!🇯🇲
Great interview, new subscriber here! This is a dream of mine to move to Jamaica at least part time. I have small children, so I’m thinking of ways to navigate that successfully.
My goal is to go on my first vacation here, and explore the island but who knows...what God may have in store. Listening to these interviews gives me more courage and confidence to travel here...despite what the media or the U.S. government has portrayed for years about Jamaica being un safe... which would deter anyone... but I am truly curious.
Thanks Thorp for this interview. I enjoyed the ones with D and O from UK. I was born in Jamaica but lived in US for 30+ years. Nice to hear all these gems. My mom and oldest aunt still lives there and few other family members. I do have a few ideas too. I loved Jamaica too.Peace and Blessings.
This was a great interview and I love her energy and vibe. I'm from the states as well and want to know about living abroad as well. Very informational, she is intelligent, knowledgeable about different countries along with Jamaica. We learn from one another and I definitely can follow her without a doubt.❤💯
Throp, I commend you immensely for doing these interviews, I feel it is so necessary that we have these conversations. Many of us would like to make the transition of coming back to Jamaica and would love to invest in the infrastructure but all you hear about Jamaica is doom and gloom where the crime is concerned. Thank you for shedding some light on other important factors that can overshadow all the negativity and focus more on positivity and prosperity of what can be done to make Jamaica a place where others want to come to (other than to have jerk chicken). Your podcasts are a breath of fresh air. Well done!! Keep up the good work .
Awesome channel Throp. I am heading to Negril the week of March 28th, can't wait. I am also training for the Toronto Marathon on May 1st. Hoping to do some great morning runs and some speed work hoping to go sub 3 hours so as you know the training can be intense also I am 54. Can you recommend to me some running routes. Maybe grab a run together.
Great video. The vegan cafe on the beach is rasta ade refreshments shout out to mike and Colonel the owners. Great food. That's my hang out spot when i come to negril.
Great interview and ideas....as Throp states Jamaicans need to be the ones who develop our communities........can they first start with completing the projects started...for example paving parking lots....finish the buildings that lay dormant for years or sell them....make sure roads have proper drainage before properly paving them..Jamaica needs more urban planners and people who are held accountable to see that the governments money is spent properly..quality is key.....if outsiders come and do the work and make the profits we need not grumble...
Hello my brother, I love your podcast, it is so informative , interesting, enlightening and a breath of fresh air if you will. I believe this forum is so necessary for Jamaica, reasons being is that there are so many people perpetuates these myths of Jamaica, for example, people would say, "Jamaica is dangerous to live/visit" this is false!! Jamaica is truly heaven on earth, just to say the least. I am a Canadian, migrated here from Jamaica as a young teenager and so, many people as far as Florida when visiting family, people would have this reluctance about retirement in the land of their birth mainly because of these myths. I am a social worker/Behavioural therapist and if I may take the liberty to say one of my studies in college and subsequently in university is global village and so Jamaica is the creme-de-la- creme of the Islands. With regards to dangerous, look how many murders daily in Ontario, let's not talk about Canada on a whole. Look at Americans crime rate, mass shootings etc, in comparison to Jamaica, no where is better than yard. I'm in Jamaica frequently and so, it's the highlight of my adult life, Jamaica is an absolute jem which is now shown around the world thanks to your ingenuity. You have created a social space through the world wide web to show the world what living is like, real stress free living from all the chaotic hustle and bustle of the foreign lifestyle that eventually killing many. Like your guest who took the plunge moving to Jamaica, bringing their education, experience, expertise, knowledge in many diverse avenues to Jamaica, what a blessing. Jamaica is on a path to greatness, the people are great full of creativity, love and positive vibes. Jamaica, she's a trailblazer in her own right!!
She is from NYC and found what freedom is in Jamaica. Is it like us leaving Jamaica and going to the USA and in this huge country and yet feel claustrophobic. A question I ask after a few months in the USA was , where is the freedom they talk about? It took me like 6-12 months to understand the 'Boxed' freedom (I call it) there. So, not free like Jamaica. I hope the policies and changes the JLP wants to make don't take away the freedom that we Jamaicans cherish.
You just summed up my Sentiments to a (T) America is not free that's a Myth. I kiss the Ground when I land in Jamaica because I become alive and my spirit soars, I feel total Freedom and cry each time I leave.
By-the-way, Throp, my daughter was born in the USA, living in Canada with children and husband, who are Canadians, how do I go about getting a Jamaican permanent status for them?
I listened to this guy interviews all the time and, when I expressed myself about what I know. Then you have some cyber bullies is trying to criticized me, but I am just speaking the truth. Becaused their is a lot of people who strongly believes, that Jamaica is the most violent place on earth. Which I know that it is a lie, even some of the same Jamaicans them. Who is new comer to foreign, they always talk a lot of negativities about Jamaica. Becaused some of several reasons why they are afraid to go back home, because they know what they did before leaving.Listenting to this fine nice hot 🔥 chocolate body young lady, from New York City. Which moved from there to Jamaica, because she is much free to move around to an extent.Becaused in any country you go to, there are certain areas, which is very, very dangerous to go to.I have been to a few countries and spend sometime there, and see real violence.I want to know why so many people around the world is falling in love 💕 with Jamaica so, although you have some is saying that they are afraid to go there.Anyone that lives in New York City, can lived anywhere in the world and don't afraid of anything. I remembered when New York City was one of the most violent city in the world,it is Rudy Giuliani was mayor of the city. Things can of change,my father was living there since 1970 until he died decades after.
I am a British solicitor and a Jamaican attorney at law. I am a Maroon who can claim on my father's side to be a direct descendant of the 1795 second Maroon war in Trelawney. My mother was born in Portland Jamaica. I was born in London England. I am President of the Jamaican Forum For Human Rights and worked as a missionary for 14 years amongst the poor and less fortunate Jamaicans and have lived in 9 Jamaican garrisons (Jamaican ghettos). Jamaica is a beautiful country but Human Rights abuses needs to be addressed. I am a senior now retired attorney at law and the legal system is totally corrupt. I think that if you are going to be transparent you should try to find out why I was the victim of a murder to hire plot and why corruption is slowly but surely depriving litigants of their fundamental God given rights. If you are nostalgic dreamers of our ancestral home and then refuse to address poignant issues relevant to the ordinary people of Jamaica, then what is being spread is nothing more than one sided propaganda.
Jamaican is special because its not copping the western world. For example, things that will pollute our island. We love enjoying the outdoors without the distraction of all the technology it allows us to connect with nature. We get enough of all the same things being in USA or Canada or England etc. Being different is why we all go there so why are we so quick to make it mirror where u are running from? Love the interview and glad you are on the island but don't be too quick to make it be like where you leave, it takes away the uniqueness.
Does Negril have casinos? Negril would do so well with casinos, bars, live shows, music, live plays, parks, amusement parks, movie theaters, modern malls, medical tourism, and so on
Thorp no joke fear for your life ,unfortunately it’s a fact of life I watched the dallor 4-1 rise to 40-1 us in no time .it can be very dangerous yes your right wrong people your downfall ,guidance is necessary ,returning residents are targets ,I lived orange hill 89-97 ,from hotels to home invasion ,you need to be careful ,I was yardy so had little trouble but almost every foreign person I knew white ,black had to be responsible but even that is not enough ,wrong place at wrong time is the least you have to worry about ,irises jah be safe love .b
