A brutally honest food review and audit. Food was very nice in taste and texture - however, presentation not the best, and the food service was not the best in my honest opinion. This food review is an honest review at the time of recording.

Eating out is 70% the food and 30% the dining experience the staff provide. Losing that 30% can make a perfect meal a 40% experience. Paul at Cafe Paolo is a prime example of how to treat your customers, nothing is too much trouble.

Customer service costs nothing but can make or break a business. I honestly did not think the omelette or coffee looked very appetising at all. I love coffee, but could not have drank that.

To be honest I thought the omelette looked thin and a bit of a waste of time eating it - I’d have been hungry again before lunch. The service you received would have made for an awful experience - one to swerve 👍

I wonder if the waiter had that kind of accent 🤔It's possible, but I have my doubts (no born and bred Londoner would push a card reader in your face alongside your meal, you either pay up front or after).

Good see you DJ on this site, hopefully can build on the subscription numbers. As already remarked can't say visually that crepe and coffee looked that appetising.. Coffee looked like treacle, fine if one likes it extra strong but equally service makes or break such eateries. If was me, I'd searched for an alternative venue.. Appreciate your comments food was good but didn't appeal to my taste buds with respect.. Great seeing this latest site, Darren as the previous OTC vlog you worked hard build up seems disappeared from my system.. Good luck expanding this site.

Well said, Darren. Basic manners and politeness are a basic level if you're providing a service, especially in hospitality. BTW what filter/app do you use for your profile photo on the intro? I like that texture and drawn feel, looks it's been penned or painted.

Warm customer service makes you want to go back again and again, in a city full of choices I wouldn’t go back to a frosty reception like that. They should know that. It’s tough enough out there with restaurants going bust, so no room for bad service. Great review mind Darren, great vids, great new energy to the channel 👍

Totally agree, the minimum requirement for the guys working that morning was to be friendly and efficient which is something the likes of Pret can manage. Service is equally important as the food. Loving the new channel mate 👍

Thanks for the vlog DJ. Not only was the service poor, there is no excuse for poor manners. Your money is paying their wages at the end of the day. I've ran businesses for nearly 2 decades and if i treated my cusomers that way, i wouldn't still be in business. No excuse mate and glad you brought this to light.

Keep up the regular uploads and your channel will go from strength to strength! Maybe do a voice over if the cafe music will risk copyright strikes.

The "omelette" looked like a crepe. As for putting feta in a "Provencale" omelette, when it should obviously be chevre, that's just bizarre. The "service" speaks for itself. Not for me.

The last part of your video was the most important part, Darren. If it was me i wouldve walked out and never gone back. There are thousands of cafes and restaurants that would be only too grateful for your custom. To me its a breach of trust. If , then, you are honest and decide to pull them up on it you dont know whether they'll tamper with your food as payback.... Consequently,for me, the trust has gone. Anyway, an interesting , honest review. 🙂👍

I get where you are coming from but as a person who serves customers in my own butchers shop, the thing that P*sses me off the most is folk dropping you to answer their phone whilst I’m in the middle of serving them or doing the same to chat to someone else they know while there are other people waiting to be served! Manners cost nothing!😡😡😡

Absolutely right. Service is as important as anyone and people on their phone or carrying on a conversation which someone else when you trying to order and then they get the order wrong really pisses me off. I think I would of got half way through ordering and just walked out.😂

Honest, interesting, informative video Darren, What a bright beautiful looking restaurant. Sadly all down hill after entering. Two gripes from me.Know you only had a 1/2 slice of toast,has the world run out of side plates? And places could sell more coffee or tea if they gave full measure in the cups😢.I'm old-fashioned, I like my half- moon omelette, set on the outside runny on the inside. Customer Service, clue in the name. It now seems to have fallen back to the days when being a waiter/ waitress ( server's) was seen to be a dead-end job,a low class drudge. They are the point of contact with the public, not the out back staff. Maybe it's a sign of the times. Don't think I'll be rushing to try the food.Did your colleague turn up and what we're their experience? Thanks for the hospitality of sharing breakfast with us. Allan&Family

Late Comment Darren Eating out is an expensive experience in London as it is in Dublin TBH the omelette did not look that great But as for the service : I wouldn’t have put up with that ‘customer service’- just rude ! it cost nothing to be nice & the worst is ignoring you & having to repeat yourself just because his phone was more important! Sorry bit of a rant but think manners are required if in the Service’ industry xx👍👍

I notice the lack of customer service in so many areas. It really irks me when I try to order and the person is on their phone. I feel like I am a nusiance for placing my order. Sometimes these workers make me feel that they are doing me a favor taking my order.

I think 'Service is King' No matter what the enviroment, bad service makes great food bad, why, because you can have the best food in the world but the paying public will not come back to you because of Bad Service. DJ what about not only reviewing the food, but the service as well !

Sorry to hear your eating experience was somewhat tainted by the poor service. Making eye contact and listening to the customer is what it is all about. The food did look lovely though.

Some places ask for payment upfront as people eat then walk out. so I know we’re they may becoming from there and in London. on the phone is a no no. if he had come back and asked what I had ordered I can’t remember you toke the orders. my pev is you tell them and they still get the order wrong. I can under stand if it was busy and loud not when u are the not one or two in there.

I've encountered this exact situation far to many times , seems today's generation are lacking in customer service skills. It won't be the first time I've told someone to put their phone down and talk to the person who's paying their phone bill , they look mortified that someone has actually dared to challenge their rudeness. Interesting meal , can't say I've ever tried that but if I ever do it won't be in that place 🤣

DO a lot of fishing CAN GET A Greasy cafe breaky for about £7 . No frills. Unlike you LOVE tinned tomatoes no hash browns fried bread if lucky. TEA or coffee included.
