That one time i spent a week driving up and down Elephant hill 3 separate times following ‪@trailmater‬ in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, WK2. Rory and TrailMater to the rescue! Even if Rory wasn't very happy about these Jeeps that ventured away from the mall.

Jeff makes his jeep as HEAVY as possible and then beats on it through the rocks 😮

The dark GC is a bit 'full send' happy... reminds me of a machinists saying : tighten until it snaps then back it off a 1/4 turn. With independent suspension parts, CV's front and rear I would approach many of the obstacles with a little less force. Anyway, great video. The inpatients of the other folks getting bothered by the breakdown should maybe think of another past time. Instead of complaining offer help! And hats off to you for still offering him help despite being an jerk to you guys.

@@DaddyBusAdventures yeah, we were trying to keep him slow when we could, but i guess the nee 4xe's are a lot twitchier because of the electric parts of the drivetrain.

@@FearlessTrailhawk Do you know if the 4xe Wrangler behaves the same. Buddy of mine just bought one , maybe need to warn him.

@@DaddyBusAdventures Unsure, but if it does, turning off the 'recapture' option helps. But each of the WL 4xe's i've wheeled with have expressed the same 'jumpiness".

@@FearlessTrailhawk Well, there's "jumpy" and then there's "driver", LoL. I'm sure he's a great guy, but there were too many times I cringed during this video from too much throttle. As you know, I've got a 4xe TH, but you've seen the jumpiness can be tamed a bit. A throttle-heavy driver just gotta learn on their own. 🙂

You can sure see thye difference between with and without a Top Heavy Tent, much less sway without

That's why I've always wondered why people go offroading with such a heavy object so high up, cause thats for sure how you increase your chances at rolling over.
@kevinmilewski9243
@kevinmilewski9243 4 дня назад
Wow, nice recoveries Jason! Looked like some heavy throttle on that WL may have "assisted" in that ball joint failure. As you've seen with mine, the WL TH is a bit jerky on the throttle with the battery and then the turbo spinning up. But I think in several situations I could have used Selec Speed myself to go smoother on the rocky stuff.
@FearlessTrailhawk
@FearlessTrailhawk 4 дня назад
@@kevinmilewski9243 yeah, it was a case of him seeing someone behind him and panic throttling into a bad rock. Otherwise he'd been just fine if he'd waited for me to get clear and spot him.

15:00 Mr. helpful at his finest... what was even the point of that exchange? I wouldn't have pulled him out after that unless he ate some serious crow on camera. Some folks just can't help themselves but to share whatever frustration they have with the world while offering nothing to help it along...

@@vinceimp9581 He came back up again to complain about how he needed to get into town, but the camera was off. I was so close to telling him to stuff it and call for a recovery, but alas, I couldn't just leave him stranded.

Hey, I haven't ran this because we always have our dog and was told rangers will not let you in with one. Can you tell me your experience?
@hikingphotog
@hikingphotog 4 дня назад
Because its National Park land no dogs are allowed, at least that's what it says on the sign. As for rangers letting you in with one, might just depend on the rangers, if they are at the entrance at the time, or if they even ask or notice the presence of the dog. My guess is due to the deep tinting on the windows, if the rangers were at the entrance, they couldn't see the dog and nobody said anything.
@FearlessTrailhawk
@FearlessTrailhawk 3 дня назад
@@supacheef1 As a non dog owner i never really paid attention to that rule. But i understand the reason for it in some of these fragile biomes. But there wasn't any ranger gate keeping the trailhead for us, just at the main park entrance, and they never said anything to Jeff.

Black n Blue is perfect color for his jeep... he drives it like it's getting punched in the face. Dude needs to learn to be subtle on his throttle, brakes & steering inputs.. it's a bare bones heavy street jeep with street tires, no lift & he just Bonzai's over & thru things way too fast... Even when he obviously broke the front end... Just keeps throttling up the rocks dragging a control arm. guess everyone has a very first day wheelin'.. his bank account will teach him how to readjust his driving.
@FearlessTrailhawk
@FearlessTrailhawk 2 дня назад
@@woody4u247 ...well it has a lift, same lift as mine (the white one)...far from bare bones 'street jeep'. I guess mine is also a bare bones street Jeep too eh? But yes, he is nee to wheeling, and had a little panic moment when i saw some jeeps behind him...i wasn't even clear infront of him yet, not sure where he was going to go anyways. I was going to start backing up that leg then get out and spot him (i had just said it on the radio like 10 seconds before the incident)

I find nothing interesting about people going full send and breaking their stuff. what a waste.
@hikingphotog
@hikingphotog 4 дня назад
And then because of that driver's inexperience, he gave a lot of other drivers a bad name when Rory just couldn't stop making fun of them for bringing their "not real Jeeps" where only "real Jeeps" should go. While also completely sidestepping the fact that Fearless made that trip down that trail 3 times during that whole situation with absolutely no issue, you know, because the new Grands have no business being out there and can't survive... except that it did.
