This time the sun is not shining on us. we are hit with heavy rains, making the task of navigating these unstable grounds quite the task. Will the Jeep Grand Cherokee wk2 have what it takes to conquer this run and keep up with two solid axle rigs? Some would say NO! I guess we'll find out. Follow along.

Have a build 2017 WK2 myself, capable enough for what I do. It's a unique off-roader, you don't see many WK2's build, and that is exactly what I like about it. Although I can appreciate and like the 4Runners, Tacoma's, Wranglers etc, everybody already has them, they all look the same. My WK2 brings a huge smile to my face every time I see it.

Completely agree! It was between a 4Runner and the WK2 Trailhawk. In 2020, the WK2 was $10k less and had better gas mileage (with 25 gal tank) and more technology. Also I barely see modded WK2s on the road so it is definitely unique. Comfortable AND capable!

I had a 4Runner before my Grand Cherokee. Trust me, it's not any more capable than my Grand Cherokee. The 4Runner should never be compared with Wranglers or Broncos. It's 100% a Grand Cherokee competitor.

I absolutely love mine -- but then I've always liked doing things different. My gearhead journey started with drift cars and I went with Mustangs because I didn't want to just drive another 240 or something. Sometimes it's frustrating to have to work around platform limitations or less widespread parts availability but I def feel like the end result has me learning far more than if I just went the same route as everyone else. Plus getting the double takes from people is always fun when you get good and blow people's expectations

Loving the videos! I’m new to the WK2, having come from well built 4Runners and a Lexus GX460 riding a 3” lift and 35s. I was blown away that my bro’s WK2 did everything my $10,000 build on my Lexus did so I dove into the WK2 but haven’t taken it off the pavement yet. It’s awesome to see the WK2 perform so well and yet give an impressively comfortable on pavement experience. It’s better yet to see you work through the limitations in suspension travel with the airbags. Keep up the awesome content. Well done!

You are so right man. Preparedness is the reason I went with a 4x4 to begin with. I was tired of driving a 2wd truck or fed car and not being able to get around town with 2” of snow on the ground. My first option and choice was the wrangler rubicon. My dad had one and I know it’s capabilities. But, the reason I picked my wk2 was because I have 3 kids and my son couldn’t fit comfortably in between the 2 car seats of his sisters so I chose the wk2 for convenience of my kids. And as I learn my wk2 I get more and more pleased with my decision. The big plans I have for mine are a lift, some wrangler 392 wheels rock sliders undercarriage protection winch and some kind of load out for the rear similar to like a decked system.

Love your videos. Although I am not a fan, I appreciate your perspective on why you chose the WK2. Having owned a JGC from every generation, except the 4th, there is a lot I have experienced mechanically & performance wise. You learn tricks from other wheelers' on how to make the 4WD system do what you want it to do, or making the attempt there of. I stayed with the 3rd gen WK because I love the body style & wanted to keep a live rear axle. I deal with the IFS, but if I had my choice, or as you say deep pockets, I would get rid of that IFS. Seems to always be an issue. I have gotten the same questions. "WHY THE GRAND CHEROKEE?" Your answer was well put! Too me, the WJ was the best of all of them. Keep up with the real videos & don't let the haters ruin your good experience. I ain't mad at ya brotha, you are doing your thang & I respect it! Holla, from 45min south!

Wrangler can’t tow anywhere close to what my hemi wk2 can. The ride is so much smoother around town where 99% of the driving is done. It’s got all the bells and whistles I need. She’s plenty capable to go wherever I actually want to go, I’m not trying to do king of the hammers or anything. It’s fun to do something different than everyone else and push a platform that is kinda niche. Keep doing what you’re doing. I love seeing another wk2 pushing the limits.

I think it is AWESOME that you have built a WK2. It is a rig that you never see out in the back country. Learning how to drive is the most important thing with any rig and you are doing that for sure. All the rigs we have are set up for off roaring especially my YJ, but our WJ and XJ are the rigs that go off roaring the most. My wife and daughter have really gotten into wheeling, so I usually just ride shotgun and spot them when they need it. Man if we were closer together, it would be a blast. !!!👍👍👍

I live in cape may County NJ, when out in the pine Barrens lots of Grand cherokees as well as compass, Liberty , commando , renegades, some patriots getting muddy. All jeeps are made for 4 wheeling right out of Big J factory. When it gets extreme rock climbing, big mud holes it changes your going to need a GC or Wrangler, CJ with modifications. My GC trailhawk has no problem keeping up with Wrangler but if we are going climbing steep incline, I do take the JKU but I have lockers front and back on the WK2✌👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

@@GrandExploration as far as i know, there are no locking diffs offered for the WK2's. ARB was developing one but I believe they stopped. Which is to bad. Even the WJ's and WK's do not have many options as well. There is the ARB, a lunch box locker, and the factory limited slips and that is it.

Jeep brother the Cherokee is the best universal jeep you can get. The Cherokee Chief come out in 1974 , the wrangler in 1987 and is no CJ , we been around longer, the Wagoner even longer 1963. The Grand Cherokee has everything, it's a jeep so the 4 wheel driving is unquestionable capable. You can real big under the hood take track hawk as example. The comfort is Awesome, I'm getting old , plenty of room for gear , I'm 3rd generation Jeep cult, we didn't have 4 door wranglers, just small CJ5 and 7. I can go on and on because Cherokee has been my favorite since a kid in the 70s . My current jeeps are a 2021 WK2 trail hawk, 2015 WK 2 Laredo, 2017 MK and a 2016 JKU . I love all jeeps it's all I ever owned but my GCs go wheeling more than the wrangler or patty riot. ✌🦆

I did the same journey you are making. I have been wheeling and camping for most of my adult life. about 12 years ago I got into preparedness to ensure my family was in a good position in case something bad happens. I was overlanding before it was called overlanding, I just called it camping from a vehicle. I had two YT channels that was for preparedness and overlanding. I decided to merge the two because I began to see where the two overlap. A good overlanding vehicle can be turned into a great bug out vehicle without a thought. I currently have an 05 WK and a 2022 JT, both of which I do take wheeling and overlanding. Each has its challenges, but both are fun. The WK with the QDII and Hemi is a very capable platform, when you lift it, it makes it better. The WK I have is full time 4 wheel drive, and with QDII system, it has electronic limited slip front and rear. Jeep took the front limited slip out of the WKII platform, in 2011 only a rear ELSD is offered, while the front has an open differential. This is why I went with the WK with the QDII system, and I wanted a Hemi.

With Jeeps Brake Lock Differential (software), you definitely need to exercise patience while the computer cycles through multiple traction models. You might consider putting Torsen differentials in, which (when combined with your BLD), will instantly lock the axle. Agreed with the comment on the different and less common platforms, there are some great rigs out there that aren't thought of as offroad capable and this is one of them that I think can be made into something pretty decent for trails. Haven’t done much to my car other than a roofrack, liftgate ladder, and 6monkeys molle panels on the back side glass. It’s not visually loud like a wrangler with angry rgb headlights is, but I like my car and am building it up for my needs/wants. Hell, in this current economy I don’t see myself doing any more upgrades at least until after election season is over. Your channel popped up on my feed as I was looking more into my car about what it can do and how far people have pushed it. @@arniecabral I think you could still hang on some trails. Just have to learn how to drive it in a different way. Use the gears and the brakes a bit more. Some guys that are really good know how to use their brake and gas to simulate the system. And low gears. Do you have 4low?
