Watching this as a kid in the 70s was a real treat. You really could only watch it when it was broadcast. No VCR, DVD, streaming, etc. Great reaction!

This was released when I was 4 yrs old so I have been watching this my whole life. It’s not the holidays without the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Christmas. I watch them every year.

I've always wondered where the name "Peanuts" came from, so a few years, I looked it up. It actually has nothing to do with the legume, "Peanuts" was a slang term for kids used in the 1950's, like the section where the kids sat on the Howdy Doody Show was called the "Peanut Gallery". Peppermint Patty and Marcy were both voiced by male actors. When Peppermint Patty tells everybody they've been invited to Charlie Brown's grandmother's house for Thanksgiving, it's one of the few times that she refers to him as Charlie Brown instead of Chuck. Lucy only appears at the beginning of the show when she gets Charlie Brown to kick the football and Schroeder doesn't appear in the show at all. The only other Peanuts' Thanksgiving related special was "This is America, Charlie Brown". which was, coincidentally, inspired by Linus' speech at the Thanksgiving dinner.

Gosh, the purity of this cartoon. It’s just so simple. Dealing with childhood issues like “Oh no, I don’t if my friends can come over for dinner”. I love this cartoon.

“The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show” was rerun on the Disney Channel (before it morphed into a pre-teen girl’s channel of Hannah Montana and iCarly). Schultz found a great formula, and it works to this today. Who else is hoping Charlie Brown wins the little red-haired girl’s heart and leaves all the jerks in his hometown behind?

Happy Thanksgiving, Rob and Vanessa! I’m surprised that you haven’t seen the main holiday specials but it’s exciting that you get to see this for the first time. It’s not as iconic as the Halloween and the Christmas specials but I still enjoy it. You should definitely see The Peanuts Movie at some point.

I grew up watching Charlie Brown, and since having kid's I now share it with them. My favorite is Charlie Brown Christmas, we usually watch it at least twice during the holidays. This year we're unfortunately missing out since it's been moved to AppleTv 😞. We used to watch on ABC or PBS (secretly hoping they realize this was a bonehead move 🤞).

Cool! I just discovered you guys! It's no less controversial, but my family and I tend to watch this one every year on thanksgiving plus a short from This is America Charlie Brown called The Mayflower Voyage (I think) that came with our disk. It's a cute little animated Charlie Brown reenactment of the Thanksgiving story with an emphasis on friendship and faith through hardship and the pilgrims and Native Americans learning from each other, so that could be a cool watch!

i think my favourite Charlie Brown Holiday Special (not counting any of the vacations, Snooby as a sled dog, magic show, marriage, Snoopy's family), the one's based on Holidays, is Charlie Brown's New Year, followed by It's The Easter Beagle Charlie Brown

I've watched it on and off since it first ran. Now I own it with many other favorites.

i did used to watch Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every year i did prefer them to Charlie Brown Christmas, which was a little less interesting for a kid (back in the early 80s) and i still prefer them of course, Charlie Brown ran a distant second to the Garfield Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving specials, which i still rewatch every year i will say as a very young kid, i was amazed Sally had any Halloween Candy after 11 months(from Canada by the way)

I was 1 years old when this debuted on TV. But even though it's all soft and fuzzy, I've always (even as a kid) saw these shows as the white washing and revisionism of history. The enslavement and slaughter of the natives already here is conveniently left out of this version of history. But I do love the music. Sorry to be a Downer Dude in your comments section. Also thank you for all your hard work on these video's. The channel has come a long way and looks so good. Love the effort you put into the project and be safe.

now, if you do plan to react to more of the classic animated Holiday specials, especially The Rankin/Bass specials (which i still love and still occasionally watch ), see if you can track down "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" (1985), the stop motion, not the animated version....i will say nothing more, except enjoy

omg you've never seen any of the Peanut holiday specials?! what?! Great Pumpkin is awesome, so is the Xmas one. I think you both might be a little too young, I think it's the Gen Xers who are really into those specials. My older cousins were boomers and they read Peanuts comics in the 50s and 60s. I read thru all the old books full of the original comics. I watched all the specials as a kid, all 3 every year. I still watch them when I remember to. OK so the chair came alive, because Snoopy has a very overactive imagination. I just realized Linus is there but not his sister, Lucy. guess she wanted no part of that nonsense Then again, no one wants to deal with her either. They totally cannibalized one of Woodstock's bird friends. lol at engorgement day, you're not wrong.

Giving Thanks should never be merely optional. A thankful heart is a content, loving, happy, and fulfilled heart. Cultivating a lifestyle and attitude of gratefulness cripples anxiety, washes away depression and fear and creates a joyful life. So why would anyone think giving thanks is optional?
