This kettle never ceases to amaze me! They are super efficient! I used mine a couple of weeks ago to provide hot chocolate to about 25 people at an outdoor scout function in -20!
Thank you for sharing your firedisk idea, Odd! Like I said in the vid - it has pretty much replaced Vaseline cotton in my kit. I have been using paraffin wax, and kerosene based oil. I'm finding that they are much harder to light when it is quite cold (-30 and colder). I may try beeswax, but I don't know how well it mixes with lamp oil. I'm also trying to thicken the mixture to avoid saturation of the center.
Thanks brother C! i only use the mic on my camera. I was intentionally speaking louder than normal, and there may have been a refractory effect from the trees. Glad you liked it!
Good vid brother.. The Kelly kettle looks great. Got to get me one... Weird winter we're having here in Muskoka. Last week we had -25 to -30. This week it's been Plus 5 to plus 10. Today it's - 20 again. strange climate. Take care...Rod
Great demo, that kelly kettle is incredible. I knew they were efficient but a liter of water in -30 in less than 5 min with a couple of sticks, that amazing!! The camera never does -30 or colder justice does it? Stay warm my friend, it not over yet!!
Ouch, -31 c is for sure really, really cold BrotherST!! May I ask if you use an ext. microphone when you recording? You have such a good sound, and you can even hear the sparks in your fire. I like it a lot!!! Thanks for sharing a great video, and have a great weekend now!!
