This ain’t a chopped cheese you’re missing a bodega cat some bulletproof glass and a papi or habibi maybe a few gentlemen with some braids out front too
I not from NY but I think I make a mean chop cheese. French bread Meat seasoned with: Cumin Salt and pepper Garlic Adobo And toppings what do y’all think?
@@pbmyurei is good cant go wrong maybe remove cuman it dont matter Onions and well cheese or uh paprika peppers are good (bellpepper) grilled of course
When the Ock’s wrap the sandwich up in foil and paper its not just to make it a “to-go” sandwich. Thats how you close the sandwich. Most important step.
Hey Sam just wanted to let you know your vids got me through 8 days of I.C.U (12 days of hospitalization total due COVID-19) and I’ve been on bed rest and supplement oxygen for a month and half at home. Today I got the all clear from all my doctors and my family and I will make this recipe to celebrate my return to regular life. Thanks for the great content!
Glad you're doing better. Strange disease. I have a friend and his 2 brothers and both sister in laws got it, along with his 87 year old mom. 3 out of 5 had virtually no symptoms(including his mom thank God), and the other 2 ended up in ICU in critical condition. Both of them survived. The 2 that ended up in ICU were the healthiest of the 5 to start with. WTF???
If you not from the Bronx you not allowed to say that. He didn’t use traditional hienz and he fucked up the minute he didn’t put sazon seasoning on the meat. Deadass. 3/5.
@@JFatzDaKeyz Ahk is used in Hebrew and Islamic communities to mean brother. Ock tho? That's the bodega guy. Shit doesn't matter if he's Italian, Hindu, Muslim, or Hispanic, that's the Ock
Bro makes a CHOPPED cheese, but doesn't CHOP the cheese into the beef like you should. I'm sure it tasted good af, but please don't try to gentrify my beloved NYC sandwich.
You're missing the last step that literally ties this sandwich together and that is wrapping it with aluminum foil so you get it nice and tight. It'll jam pack all the flavors together and makes it less messy to eat
It also steams it a bit, makes everything better. Internet Shaquille did a video on foil wrapping being a big reason takeaway burritos are better than what you make at home.
You can’t ever go wrong with beef, onions, and cheese in sandwich form... but the fact that the... eh hem, chop cheese is hamburger meat ends the Philly Cheesesteak discussion right there!! foh!!
Once again, Sam knocks out out of the park with another sandwich that makes your taste buds go into over-drive! I swear whenever I watch his videos, my pavlovian reflex kicks in. I WILL ADMIT i am stealing every recipe just in case I go back to work as a Chef!❤❤❤❤❤🎯🎯🎯🎯
@@theuniversejr how can one mistake chopped up burger patties, lettuce, tomato, cheese, ketchup and mayo.... unless you mean its a double cheeseburger on a hero...im from nyc and eaten plenty of them and from the original store on east side 101 st i think
I'm Muslim, so I want all my meat anything fully cooked. I don't want to risk any👎 bacteria/blood etc. on my food. As Yemeni I approve of this chopped cheese👍, but definitely didn't approve of the alcohol👎 bit obviously.
@@lukejposadas Just posing the question is absurd. They are not even remotely in the same league. It's like asking which is better, Nissan Versa or Porsche 911 Turbo S? No one asks that because it's so ridiculous. You get what you pay for.
As someone from Philly I was coming to the comments just to post this even before watching the video! I'm sure it was the clickbait he wanted for views but he hit a nerve w/ that one lol
Lol chopped cheese are mostly in the "ock" bodegas not Italians. Italian bodegas dont even really exist anymore in NYC *FYI ock is an affectionate term for the (mostly)Yemeni people who work in the bodegas*
Agreed. This country has turned into a cesspool of hurt feelings. It's one thing to try to be generally sensitive. It's another thing entirely to demand adults change who they are on their digital property to be more "pg", or maybe more "pc", when, nobody wants someone else "suggesting" (aka: telling them) how to run their life or manage their business. If someone came here and enjoyed themselves enough that they stayed... it's because they like the way things are. If they have a suggestion, hey... that's cool. Suggestions are great. Just, please don't whine if their suggestion is ignored, eh? (Yes yes, feel free to ignore this as well... as will I, any pedantic attempt to reverse analyze this shit) Live life. Enjoy. Stay healthy. And, be concerned about others, once you have nothing left about yourself to fix.
@@jamesmandla1192 It's called a comment. The "comments" section is intended specifically for that, and the conversation was being had, so yes... I was invited, through public discourse, to offer my comment... in the comments section. Try for a more intelligent response than "No one asked", "g".
Sam next time add some bacon on it. Only the the true New Yorkers know about adding bacon. Great job thou I definitely approve I would order a chopped cheese for you any day!!. You just earned yourself a new subscriber by the way.
utewbing What does “lol” and “Hahaha” mean to you? If you didn’t recognize that as obvious humor, then you really are stupid. Also, stop upvoting your own comments; it makes you look weird.
You’re not from NY so please don’t speak. Arabs invented it in HARLEM AND ITS MADE WITH LAWRY. Stop trying to change the origin of recipes and ingredients
Yo New York in the house Is Brooklyn in the house? Uptown in the house (Harlem) Shaolin, are you in the house? (Staten Island) Boogie Down, are you in the house? (The Bronx)
Original? When. Wiz was popular in philly but since i been alive normal was american. But its a cheese steak bruh. Make shit happen. Wiz, american provalone. Shit maybe i even want a chicken cheesesteak. That wiz with is pats genos shit.
@@williec7273 yeah bro i usually dont even need to specify the cheese. Lol now that i think about it only time i have to specify cheese is at a tourist spot. Only tourist spots i go to is jims and delesandros. Other than that its already known without me saying anything what type if cheese is on my cheesteak.
Love your cooking philosophy, Sam. I started cooking at a diner when I was 17, was handed the opportunity of a lifetime during bar rush, and broke out into the industry for a few years. Moved on to construction. Still love cooking. But I have to ask; Since when have you voiced a sponsorship in your videos? I could be completely oblivious, but I don’t remember ever seeing you be sponsored.
Minced meat should be eaten well cooked, the process of grinding meat means the outer and inner portions of the cuts of meat are ground up and mixed into each other, a cut of beef I'll enjoy medium rare as long the outside is well seared, but when the inner layers have become as prone to contamination as the outer layers, I'd suggest making sure it's all at least medium well if not well done.
I love how you truly enjoy eating your meals afterwards. I have made many of your recipes and they are soooo delicious!!! Never any leftovers!!! Thank you!!! 💕
@@robynnewton2080 i guess i'm secretly channeling Sam. i'll have to watch this brisket episode but we cooked one Friday, 10# and oh my, it was juicy, tasty and quite spectacular.
Hey Sam, if you've never been to Puerto Rico and tried a really good TRIPLETA, try making one! They're a long sandwich with (traditionally) three meats, hence the name, with lettuce and tomato and mayoketchup as the sauce. BUT the yummiest one IMO is one that only has two meats in it: chopped up skirt steak and chicken breast. Oh, and potato stix, can't forget that part for the crunch!! We usually make it with pan sobao, which is extra soft, kinda sweet bread (not as sweet as brioche). It is served in tube form wrapped in tin foil. YOU WILL DIE AND GO TO HEAVEN. You can use that japanese mayo you love so much to make the mayoketchup.
Why do people always compare these two sandwiches when they don’t even use the same ingredients. And the chop cheese isn’t at every bodega. Its mainly a uptown & Bx thing and not every bodega uptown even makes it. I live in west Harlem and my bodega don’t make it. It’s an ok sandwich when you sober but fire when you high AF.
Bryant721 fax. Nobody who wasn’t part of the culture knew about it until Bourdain put it on blast, but these new wave food conquistadors are making it seem like it’s a NY thing. It’s not- it’s an uptown ting. Nobody from TriBeCa, Chinatown or Red Hook would understand this, unless you actually fuck with us.
If that's the case, than speghetti and meat balls with cheese is just sausage pizza. So many things we eat use the same ingredients, just prepared cooked differently.
Bob Dylan tf how? What you said makes no sense at all. This sandwich is literally the exact same components and assembly as a classic burger. ONLY difference is that the patty is chopped up and placed on a roll. But you said that spaghetti and pizzas are the same thing...? What?
Whenever Sam looks into the camera and gives that sly smile and says "You're gonna like this." it is super wholesome, reminds me of my late father and brings back such good memories! Thanks for all you do Sam and family :)
Guaranteed they’ll be selling $16 artisan chop cheeses somewhere real soon 🙄 they can keep that shit... I’ll stick with habibi at the bodega on the corner tho 🤷🏻♂️
