Yeah, the whole album is about a character who is in a dream and the different feelings and actions he does after realizing he's in a dream. The first song Welcome Back, O Sleeping Dreamer pretty much tells you everything. It's always funny when you tell people the song is about a dream and they get shocked or they don't believe you.
Actually he has a very relaxed way of drumming. If you’re interested you could watch his performance on Meinl. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3kaxJos3PeY.html I didn’t watch till the end and I saw that he mentioned the Meinl showcase.
I’m not a believer and I used to respect people who believe in “a God” but after I have worked for many years with colleagues that believe I lost my respect. I’m someone who believes that we have to take care of our world and be conscious of the impact humans have on the environment. That’s why I became a vegan, I bought an electric car and I changed our house from gas to electric heating. But wen I discuss this with my colleagues they say:” I don’t have to take care of the world I live in because in the end God will take care of it and all will be renewed”. When I hear them talking like that I know that mankind is doomed. Greetings from Holland.
Hey Michel from Holland, thanks for checking out the video. I actually don't believe quite the way your colleagues seem to. I don't think God's going to burn up His work at the end of time, but I do agree that it is being renewed by the power of what Jesus did on the cross. God gave us this earth so we could steward it well and be His representatives here, but that doesn't mean we can throw our toys on the floor just because we know God will clean them up later. We have responsibilities. The disagreement seems to be over what things are acceptable and what are required. I don't think that 1 degree of temperature needs to be stopped at all cost (politicians have been saying for decades that we'll die soon), and I don't think we can freely dump chemicals into waterways. It should be a sober minded balance. So my view of what's acceptable probably falls between yours and your colleagues' based on my understanding of the Bible.
Nice man, you want to save the environment, but than you contradict yourself by buying an electric car, which according to studies are more than thrice as bad for the environment as regular cars
Unlike your Christian friends, I believe it is important to take care of our resources and I despise littering and recommend recycling whenever possible. The Bible actually tells us to be good stewards, so taking care of the earth and all life on it should be paramount and that includes humane treatment of livestock used for food. But in regards to electric vehicles, they are far more dangerous to the environment than fossil fuels. Just check into lithium mining and the toxic consequences wreaked on everything for miles around it. Electric vehicles still use fossil fuels because the majority of power companies use gas to create the steam needed to produce the electricity to charge them. If even half of a heavily populated area used electric vehicles, the power grid could not handle the demand, causing brownouts. Despite the propaganda surrounding the push for electric vehicles, there really is no environmental or economic benefit in them when weighed against the damage caused to produce them. Don't forget that there is a lot of plastic being used in parts of these vehicles including the shell of the batteries and you know where plastics come from?....that's right, petroleum! Your phone, your PC, your headphones or earbuds, your smartwatch, your appliances, your tvs, your speakers, your alarm clock, etc, etc, etc, all have components of petroleum. And, in closing, don't turn away from God because of bad examples or being rubbed the wrong way by Christians, they are just people too and are prone to sin, but by the grace of God, we have a redeemer of those sins and his name is Jesus. There is no physical evidence I can provide to prove that God exists aside from citing archaeological finds and historical records establishing the validity of the stories in the bible. There is no amount of witnessing that I can convey to you to convince you that God is real because it is only through faith that you can find Him, but once you do, once you establish your relationship with Him and God reveals Himself to you, there is no amount of mockery or persecution that will make you denounce Him. You'll go to your death proclaiming that God is real. Give Him a chance, truly seek Him with an open mind and especially an open heart and I'm sure you will find what you didn't know you needed but will never want to be without again, the missing component in your life, God.
@@nathanaelgazzard7989 for me, family subjects are the most tender. Songs like Future Bird by Vola; The Salesman, The Husband, The Lover by The Receiving End of Sirens; Hello Drifter by Spiritbreaker. Lower Still by My Epic is another tearjerker.
So i was hoping that the rest of the trilogy would be coming but hearing the whole "just a warning about their other videos" makes me think there won't be insight on the rest because yeah they get dark Anyway the album is based on a man's dreams but i think the video trilogy is entirely different. To me as a fairly anti-social introvert the video speaks to me because i have only a few personal connections to people and while being the way i am is fine normally losing someone you let into the circle is difficult. But there's ways an introvert like me copes with things. However yes can still affect us. For normal people you can be surrounded by friends and family and yet still be alone and for everyone else things go back to normal and your left alone with your inner termoil. In both cases the triolgy is what happens when the termoil overwhelms people.
Hey, welcome to the channel! My videos are mostly geared towards Christian thought (though anyone is welcome to watch), so I wanted to give a heads up that some of their lyrics get much darker. I'm also trying to give a broad scope of bands and metal subgenres, but maybe I'll circle back to Lorna Shore in the future. Sun Eater was on my mind as well. I appreciate the thoughts! Is Lorna one of your favorite bands?
@@MetalSharpensMetal they are one of them in this genre of music definitely. I'm an older metal head and I see a lot of what I liked back in the 80's in this type of stuff. It's raw, unapologetic, touches on subjects that are sometimes really dark, and brutal musically. This trilogy in particular is my favorite because again it hits home. I know people who have had this happen to them and have went down the different paths that the first video could take you. The only person I called a friend other than my wife did take the path of the first two parts of this trilogy. So while it's dark it's reality. And regardless of what you believe religiously they are important topics to discuss, which why I do like hearing people's take on things such as these videos.
@@gd229 well I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I'm don't plan to shy away from too many subjects, but wanted to make it clear that the solution for the issues these songs describe is Christ, rather than dwelling in the darkness. Curious when you say "took the path of the first video," did you mean losing a loved one and falling into depression/suicide, or trying to find solace in dreams like the lyrics describe?
@@MetalSharpensMetal he took the path of the first two videos which was to lose the person he loved, feeling like he couldn't go on and no one noticing he felt that way. Only difference is he was successful in ending his life the first time
What I took away from the whole album is it's centered on one man who has turned his back on God, but enters an eternal dream to deny God the satisfaction of judging him in the next life. Throughout the man's dream, he realizes that suffering is part of being human, but he's made it worse for turning his back on God instead of putting his faith in Him. In part 3, where he burns it all down, he's waking up because he understands his loss.
That's an interesting analysis. I can see the frustration element in the lyrics as well, but what makes you think the main character (or the band) is indicating that faith in God would be a better alternative?
Way to take something beautiful and crap on it. The whole album is a concept album and is about a man who is unhappy with his life and ultimately creates an alternate universe using lucid dreaming, and the trilogy is the conclusion of this, where he realizes that life isn't any better, and while it's centered around a dream, when we speak about lucid dreaming, it's the true desire of the heart, this trilogy is absolutely gorgeous.
