Not as good as 2014 advert which was a classic. My great grandfather was a soldier in the Imperial German Army and was killed in 1914. It was a very moving advert as my grandmother talked about him to me as a child. He never lived to see Christmas 1914 as he was killed by then. I hope everyone has a good Christmas this year. Peace to all!
Sainsbury’s ads are going into a multicultural mode. They’re not going to be the kind of monolithic adverts like they were in the past. But this transition must take place and if it doesn’t, Sainsbury’s will not survive
Why don't the ads play Christmas music?? It's a bit vanilla for me to be honest, didn't love it or hate it either. Only Aldi and Boots really give me that warm Christmas feeling.❄️⛄️
My favourite time of the year is watching boomers get annoyed about Christmas adverts and almost having aneurysm at seeing non-white people on the television. Not long now!
Sainsbury Christmas ads have really bottomed out the past few years. I've been reading the comments and some folks seem to be complimenting them on this ad, and I honestly have no idea why. The ad isn't inspirational like the 1914 ad in 2017. Neither was it entertaining like the Mog ad of 2015. The ad barely has any Christmas feel to it. It's just a minute-long camera and CGI trick with a song that has nothing to do with the holiday season. Remove the few Christmas themed props and it they could have shown it any time of the year.
Whoever is responsible for this add needs sacking.. did every single supermarket get together and decide that this years advert will have exactly the same theme.. a mixed race family of about 12 people all sat around a large table covered in food.. . WOW, really outstanding and memorable. NOT
Skin colour is clearly something that upsets you imensley. "Indigenous" being Anglo-Saxons I assume? A mix of Danes and Normans, neither of which are orginally from the "isles"? A nation built on trade with an empire that spanned most the world, we became a powerful nation because of the melting pot of cultures that came traded and made this isle their home as well. Maybe an advert that just allows everyone to feel included at Christmas might be a little more worthwhile than a statistcally correct one, either way I hope you have a great Christmas.
@@nightingale6480 biologically the family setup in this video doesn't even make sense though ? Do you have a problem with the race of the natives of these isles? You sound like a racist. The roots of these isles Foundations that were built were by ethnic, native Anglos and Gaels...who are you to belittle someone elses ethnicity? You don't see ads on eastern tv with a table full of white people during ramadan etc... Why does "everyone" want to be included in a Christian festival when odds are, the cultural background some of the actors are supposed to represent aren't even Christian backgrounds ...?
@@Eringobragh2024 if you actually understood the advert, it’s supposed to show the gathering of friends and family which is the true joy of Christmas - being together again with the people you love. And you know very well that Christmas is no longer a strictly Christian holiday, in the sense that a great deal of people who celebrate it aren’t even religious or aren’t Christian, it’s now just become a general holiday. As the other commenter said, why can’t you just let people be included in an advert about a happy time for many, why does it bother you and others so much?
While this ad is a step up from last year's, I've still been seeing quite a few complaints on this, asking where the quality of the 1914 ad had gone. Lets face it people, the 1914 ad was lightning in a bottle, and we're never gonna reach that level of quality again.
@@j.e.wattes8991 as a black man myself i honestly dont fuss myself counting how many white or black people are in an advert skin coulor is irrelevant maybe your right about more white people in the adverts but at the same time it doesnt really matter as long as i have equal job opportunities as the next whatever coulor man as a tax paying worker in the UK im not bothered. My only question to you and all others is why does it have such an impact on your lives if every advert i saw from now on only had white people i would not be affected in any way whatsoever why does it impact you guys' lives so much.
@@deleted3792 Of course you dont have a problem with it, you are the minority. Imagine you lived in Africa and seen nothing but white people on TV ads, wouldnt it be kind of weird?
Here in the States, it's the same. It's rare to find a commercial that doesn't feature 100% black (representing about 15% of our population) or mixed race groups - now I think it's great to see all types of people in advertisements but this seems more like pandering for purely commercial purposes mixed with some not so subtle SJW flavor. Basically the ad people and the sponsors patting themselves on the back - I doubt very much that they care so desperately about minorities, although of course that's what they're trying to project, more than filling their coffers.

I hate this ad. Not only is it a horrific drop in quality compared to the 2014 ad, or my personal favourite, the 2016 one, but it's also referencing a trend called the mannequin challenge, which was last popular over 5 years ago. It's just screams "come look at us, kids. We like the same things you do.", and I hate that.
Enjoyed the ad. Sainsbury's always produce the best Christmas ads with lots of sparkle. I look forward to doing my Christmas shopping at Sainsbury's. They have always offered a first class service and the staff are wonderful and super nice
You wouldn't say that if you knew how much plastic is in Saintsburys own food, they also want to segregate black workers from white colleges in black safe spaces😒
@@michmunroe.9196 In my country black/white isn't really a problem. Seems to be an issue in England. If you don't want to shop at Sainsburys then fine it doesn't bother me. But you are welcome to your own opinion
@@user-zr4wh3lh5v what county is that then, when I was growing up in my country we were told to judge ppl for who they are, now all that count's is your gender or skin colour, I don't want there to be any focus on these characteristics but there you go 😔
@@michmunroe.9196 Northern Ireland Seems to be different in the rest of the UK. You raise very valid points. I definitely respect your opinion. I don't completely disagree with you either. I take it you don't like Sainsbury's then
@@user-zr4wh3lh5vNo I actually shop there, I just don't like the way they make me feel I'm being racist if I object to them bringing politics into a supermarket, I've given up saying I'm not racist ppl will say what they say, I want ppl with the best abilities to get a job & not worry if affirmative action got them the job 👍
Hi there! I can reassure you that the claim made in the video is simply not true. We’re just trialling an upgraded version of our SmartShop experience with colleagues at one of our Holborn stores, which could offer another convenient way for customers to shop with us. There was media coverage on the trial earlier this week which you will see verifies this as well. Ewan
A Christmas to savour except for your staff eh Sainsbury's? No Christmas music and ordering all staff Christmas parties to be cancelled! Grinch springs to mind!
I ❤️ Sainsbury's. I was there today getting couple bottles of wine for Christmas. I don't care what anybody says. Sainsbury's have by far the greatest wine selection and at both ends of the price spectrum. We now have Argos in Sainsbury's Dungannon too. Great move. Now you can collect your Argos package there too. Merry Christmas to all the staff and thanks for all your help throughout the year 👏
Nature provides us with enough food for every living creature on the planet. Farmers and supermarkets have the responsibility of growing, harvesting and distributing it responsibly. Billions of pieces of single-use plastic from each supermarket. Abusive and polluting factory farming. Selling products tested on animals and burning the rainforest for palm oil or soya. Use of sweat-shop factories. Clearly the food industry is not doing its job properly. Governments should legislate on these issues before it is too late. Sainsburys are responsible as one of the UKs largest retailers, and should stop operating its business in such a dark, horrible and destructive manner.
@Sainsbury's 3% of the population is black, so why does Sainsburys in their adverts and in-store billboards always push an untrue representation of this fact? Because you are woke. Why don't you try and do something unique that sets you apart from the 'big 4'. Ever wonder why you have been losing market share recently?
I've been always looking forward to watch Sainsbury's Christmas Ad, and well.. this is nice, but that's all. Did they have to reduce the budget for their world widely glorious Christmas Ads, because of the sales decrease due to COVID-19?Wouldn't their fairy tale like Christmas spirit come back never again? I'm not in a position of moaning their efforts in this hard time, but well.. I hope their beautiful Christmas story-telling spirit (and budget) come back some day near future. Well done, though. Happy New Year.
Racist interracial advert, do you know that the UK is white not black, this advert is offensive to me being a white man but I guess it’s ok to upset me because you’re not allowed to upset a black person or a foreigner.....!!
You found this advert confusing? Jeez 😬 it literally perfectly captures the Christmas spirit, capturing all the little moments that happen with family and friends at Christmas
Nothing to do with this ..But i do wish that Sainburys would stop the Guilt trip with the repeat message "masks are now a choice " but please still keep wearing them ..please let us shop without repeating this over and over ..its no choice if you make people feel awful .
Just go easy! You easily could imagine the COVID virus surrounding these people too. Remember many have lost mothers. fathers, brothers and sisters. My own father past away this year, not related but he missed out on seeing my children and other family members. America and China are experimenting on biowarfare. Stay safe!.
